Hello, villagers ~
Topic of the day ... ok, I guess I have been
wandering around the house doing bits & pieces of this & that.

Thought I was going to go out to run a few errands, but decided I was making too much progress to interrupt by leaving the house.
Yesterday I had an appointment with the cable guy who came to do a "site survey" for the purpose of deciding where they will install the outdoors fiberoptic cable that will replace the old coax cable. Although DH and I have decided to get rid of cable tv as soon as we decide the best option of antenna etc. for us, letting them install the fiberoptic up to the house will reduce the costs if we ever decide to reinstall their tv or switch to their internet service.
Right now the plan is not to let them inside the house at all. That may change, depending on how long it takes them to actually come around to do the outside work. The guy said it might not be for a few months. Again, if we let them do it on their schedule, it will be no $ -- but it is extremely inconvenient to us to let them do it now, and who knows if we will ever want to have cable tv again once we drop it.
This guy said that the current coax cable will stay in service through the summer. I hope he's right.
Oh, I forgot to mention a conversation with DSis on Sunday about clutter. Somehow the family started talking about counter space, and DSis has a huge expanse of counter in her kitchen. She admitted that the whole peninsula is usually the place where everything gets dumped, and she has to clear it off every time she invites anyone over. I told her that was a relief to hear, and sometimes it gets depressing to see her perfect housekeeping and wonder how she gets it all done with her hectic schedule. She said she has some big baskets where she stashes everything and hides the baskets in her bedroom closet so we won't see the normal daily clutter.
My boss sent an email today asking if I could start coming to work a couple hours earlier on Monday and Thursday evenings. That will be part of the increased schedule for the summer. In the next couple of weeks she will decide whether or not to schedule me for Tuesday and/or Friday hours to help with story times. She is trying to hire a high school kid as temporary summer help, but if she can't find the right kid then she'll need me to work more often.
