Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Good morning everyone! I had a somewhat productive evening. DD13 and I ate at home, which cleared some of the camping food from the freezer. We ate the last of the sandwich meat, she got the last of the corn, and I made progress on the black eyed peas. It is testing week at her school, but she had some good news yesterday. Her arch-enemy is transferring to another school.
After she left, there was enough light left for 15 minutes of weeding, and I filled 2/3 of a large lawn bag. More extreme catbox cleaning was needed, but at least this was the small one. (There are 2 huge ones 2'x3' and the small one in the bathroom I use to feed Cleo her prescription diet). I caught up on all my home emails. I did not find the church's Wednesday menu, so did not post it. There is one thing I need to post, but it is not critical today.
One bill came in, and there is money to cover it, but it would not leave < $20 in checking for the next 1.5 weeks. I will pay it right after next paycheck (5/29). It is due 6/8, so that should work. Here is something annoying: the x gets his check at the first of the month by direct transfer. If my paycheck arrives 5/29, one would think that would work. However, the bank REMOVES the money from my account on the 24th, but he doesn't get it until the 1st. WHY??? I will have to transfer from savings to cover it, then back again after payday. And this is NOT due to poor budgeting on my part.
Better planning on getting out the door resulted in no mad dash for the train this morning. I have done my 'timecard' (actually a webform to complete) and gone to a meeting. Now, I am working on a report.

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Good morning - for 15 more minutes.
I've been pretty on track this morning - but my a.m .routine is still not done. I've been doing other things.
Hi Twins!
Hello to the rest of you too. I don't have time to be social, unfortunately.
Done:
- bfast
- computer - checked email; replied to one
- s2s and self-care
- walked w/ dfriend B (out of the house for 2.25 hours)
- lunch
- boiling pasta for casserole tonight
I need to leave in abou 45 minutes. Ack! I just got home from walking with dfriend about 30 minutes ago.
Before I leave, I need to:
- cook gr. beef for the casserole
- do as much of the a.m. routine as possible
- spiff self for work
- gather items for meeting with mentee and then payroll
I'm meeting with my mentee at 1:15 and hoping to head to work by 3 pm. The school is basically across the street from the coffee shop where mentee and I meet. I should be home at 6:15. 2 friends will then be here at 6:30/6:45 for dinner. And that will pretty much be my day. I'd like to finalize some hotel reservations for my trip next week.
I think dh is wanting help with Iceland too, but I need to know more from him before I can help with that. I know he's reserved space in a hut in the mts. for one night, so we'll be doing a hike up (1000 meters up) one day and then down the next, a short mountain hike.
Have a good day all!

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Good morxxxx -- nope -- good AFTERNOON, everyone.
I have often been told how stubborn I am, so this is not a difficult day to meet the goal of our topic.
I don't really have time to be social this morning either. I am dh's designated companion for SEC baseball tournament today. DS declined, saying he needed to stay here and paint at his soon-to-be new house. So dh and I will be making the trip and I am hoping for * NO ALLERGY * trouble.
I am also trying hard to STAY stubborn when faced w/my stubborn friend/salesperson as mentioned before. I do not doubt the product would be good for me, but I am just not going to spend that kind of money on an experiment.
I don't think I am, anyway. * AUAUUUGUGGGHHHH!!! * Allergy nurse did say, "You're worth it." But * sheesh * There's a lot of things I had rather spend $1500 a year on, instead of what is basically vitamins.
Oh well... just letting that sit for the time being, just ignoring dfriend's message.
Hope you all have a good day, with lots to celebrate by bedtime tonight... thinking of you all, but Harmony and Dee are especially in my thoughts for less stressful days ahead... better sleep...
And it was good to hear from Twins and hear that things are going well on their family trip. Much deserved relief from stress for all of you!
Also, smiled to hear that Elizabeth's dd's "arch-enemy" is transferring!
(((HUGS))) for Kathryn w/physio-pain AND travel-plan pain!
OH -- got to tell y'all -- I am just so thankful for ALL of you! I was looking back through some old posts last night, and realizing how you have all helped me through so many milestones, and I just had to say this again. I don't know what on earth I would do without you. With my crazy phobias, I will never be able to do a face-to-face meeting, but you will all always be some of my best friends in the world. (Partly, I can't do face-to-face b/c I feel compelled to keep y'all "secret" from my IRL family -- not wanting ddil or daunt or anyone to "intrude" on MY space here, you know. Here in Tiny Town, I could do nothing w/out ds & ddil knowing. In this case, it's really not you, it's me, LOL! And I try to downplay the time I spend here to dh, b/c I know he would not appreciate my sharing quite as much as I do sometimes...)
But I just wanted to say thank you again... when I looked back at some of the losses dh & I have suffered, and the gaining of ddil and dgs, and now this new baby on the way... I am just so thankful for the patience and encouragement and reassurance you have all shown me as you talked me through all this. You are all such wonderful ladies and I'm so glad I found you!

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
CI net was out, cable co. is making changes here for one thing, other reasons too I suspect. I got some weeding done this morning not for the feint of heart. Made the bed spiffed up the kitchen a bit. ToddlerN is here now napping.
2 dogs were in the back yard scaring the hens in the run I had to chase them off, they came back & I "escorted" them down the street they have not been back thankfully.
Swept driveway & took vits. Lunch is done. Mopped to keep my back strong!

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Trying to get moving.
Skipping walking club because my hip is quite sore. Will take an ibuprofen right now and another at bedtime. Should have taken it sooner but had an empty tummy.
Had a good time with dd. We did get the a/c she wanted and we had a nice lunch at Subway. She's decided she won't come for family vacation. Now that she sees us whenever she wants, it isn't as important to her. That suits me fine, I can cancel the cabin I have reserved for them and just use the room I have booked (I doubled up so that I wouldn't end up paying for a 2 bedroom cabin. I'm part tempted to invite my sister to come (she can share the cabin with ds) but I don't really like her enough and there's still the bother of getting her from Halifax to White Point.
Did a fair bit of shopping with dd but have more returns to do. Picked up little things like the chandelier light bulb to replace the one that is burned out in the dining room. I bought the wrong cheerios so that will have to remedied tomorrow.
Picked up roast chicken for dinner and dh made up fried potatoes to go with that. I measured out what I wanted as a small serving and had salad and asparagus to fill the rest of my plate.
I still have room for tea and chocolate as a dessert after I clean up the kitchen.
Also left a Canadian Flag and a congrats card at our neighbour's door. They become Canadian citizens today.
Tomorrow I'm out again so hope to get the returns done.

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Happy for Elizabeth's dd.
I was strong today in suddenly deciding to take dd and attend our area's historical celebration of our most famous Revolutionary War event. I was stepping WAY out of my comfort zone and navigating on foot the streets of big city for a very long walk. Found a parking meter and put quarters in for the first time in, what... ... 25 or 30 years. Then we walked about 10 blocks. The area was cordoned off and we enjoyed the costumed soldiers, fife and drum corps and general hoopla.
Dd had to go to big city anyway but to the area where I used to work at the regional paper. So easier for that. In fact I had her drive and she did fine. But uptown was pretty eye-opening for both of us, especially having to park so far away. She enjoyed seeing the trolleys and sculptures.
Dd's errand was the drug test. Crowded, frustrating waiting room. The city bus folks had a "random" day today, too, so everyone waited an hour.
This evening her youth group's activity was a hike. So I think she's gotten in her exercise.

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Living room is vacuumed, dining room vacuumed and dusted. I'm taking baby steps. Kitchen was cleaned up of dinner dishes.
I had invited my senior friend over for dinner tomorrow night but she can't some. I still will vacuum and mop the kitchen floor and vacuum the office. May even get the dusting done. I had to do that tonight since tomorrow I'm leaving here at 9:45 for a lot of the day. I get lunch out for the third time in three days. Thank heavens for Subway. I like it, it fills me up and it has some redeeming nutritional qualities. Although tomorrow might be IKEA, depending on how much time I have between physio and doctor. I have to drive by it anyway so it isn't out of my way.
My tea is almost done so I have to get back to work on the cleaning and tidying. It is amazing how trashed the apartment got this week. A lot of it was the windows being open, letting in the dust from the construction in the parking lot when the wind was from the East and tree pollen when it was from the West.

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
Got distracted while at my keyboard.
Now 11 of the 16 reservations are made. Still have the tricky inside bit to do over a weekend during high season. Hope I can find something nice, much of what I've looked at has been already booked.
I hate one night stands but this trip has 9 of them. Sigh.... At least 3 of those are in hotels we've used a lot before so it isn't quite as bad.

Re: Wednesday Celebrating STRONG Women
I wanted to say hello to everyone. I wanted to post last night, but was tired and just turned the computer off and went to bed.
((Dee)).
Nancy, you sure have done a lot of yard work lately. Hope those dogs stay away!
Harmony, I'm sorry you had such a rough day yesterday. Hope you can get some good rest tonight and have a good day tomorrow.
Twins', I'm glad you are having a nice time at the beach.
Harriet, I'm glad you liked that link . I understand they did have to wear the footie pjs and the conductor wore the cape for part of their performance. I posted the link because they play a wide variety of music, mostly popular classical that most everyone would recognize.
Oh, and it was good that you and dd enjoyed your day in the big city!
Oh, and a happy thing to report....I got a text and picture from ddil#2-Y yesterday afternoon. She received her transcript and her BA degree in Special Education from Western Governors Univ. (She thought it would only be a certificate.) So she is finished her courses, unless she wants to go for a Masters at some time! I'm sure she was doing a happy dance yesterday!
Waving to everyone....
