Saturday Delegating

Sometimes we should ask for help, and the weekend's a good time for it!

Enlist some help from those whose schedules may make them more available today. Can someone reach/carry/heft/move something with you today? Could you use another set of hands?

Would two heads be better than one? Would it help you to snag another family member and share a project idea with them while they have time to plan along with you?

Do you need a family meeting? Does someone need to hear that the household chore distribution needs tweaking?

Well, Dsonil DID say to me a couple of days ago, "You need to tell your sonil when you need something done!" Know I'm always hesitant to do so. He's working today anyway -and tomorrow I believe. LOL because he brought home his new uniforms last night and tried on the pants. His words: "There's no way these are the size they say they are!" Ummmmm, he surely does not realize how much his girth has changed over the past many months. Not sure how he's going to correct this one.

I'm s2slippers, meds taken and bed made. Hoping dd gets up before too long so she can get at DS-A's remaining shirts before it gets blistering hot again. It's only 74 out right now but is sure to reach at least near 90 by afternoon. They can't print at night as they can't leave the garage doors open to let in bugs and mosquitoes. Know she wants to ship them on Monday.

I made out my separate lists yesterday for errands, computer, calls, to-do's, packing notes. Did a separate page for each and have them lined up on a table in our room. At least maybe I'll feel like I'm heading toward being ready next Friday. Of course I hadn't figured on using a good share of the day before I leave with court on Thursday.

Watched the hockey game between NY Rangers and Tampa Bay last night. Guess I've become a Lightening fan. Taped the game so dd can watch some of it if she wants, otherwise we'll just delete it. Was a good game.

In our house, there's a teen with so much to do I hate to add through delegating, BUT I see the need for some prioritizing for her. I won't be shy in telling her so, and suggesting priorities. Dstepson wasn't able to come yesterday but will move those limbs today, which suits me fine because now HRH will be here to help him instead of me, and can suggest any other smart uses of time for two men.

A fuss between some of my cousins is becoming something I can't ignore. I love them all, can see (from their very different lifelong ways of looking at the world) that each one is hurting and thinks they are right, or thinks their feelings are not being respected. Sigh. At first I thought my role was to stay quiet and let this die down. Now I wonder if I could have helped by stepping in and diffusing. It all seemed so silly but it's looking less silly all the time.

No delegating here I'm afraid. DH is busy putting the finishing touches on the latest boat he is building. He is getting ready for a big race. Exciting!!
I will be off to work soon and will have a busy day as well.

(((Harriet))) praying for situation to 'diffuse' with little input for you and that you will be led to only input what you should. Know all too well of what you speak.

I had breakfast and did up the dishes -mostly dsonil's coffee mugs. Then I proceeded to clean out the refrigerator. Wanted to get that done before we left or dd would come back to a fridge overflowing with 'green'. Some things I thought we might use up -OH NO! I definitely don't like green fuzzies -only were a couple. Some things I knew we would not use up and dsonil definitely wouldn't so just tossed them down the disposal and to recycling bin. At least we now know what we're having for dinner -hamburg gravy and mashed potatoes -have 2 containers (quite new) of mashed potatoes and the makings for the hamburg gravy on hand.

DD is out trying to print shirts. She's being held up by cleaning some screens and the implements to do that with. She thought she'd cleaned them out after she did DS-A's green print on the safety green shirts. Not. She's now printing white on some black shirts and can't do that till all the green ink is out.

I'm taking a break for my back before I delve into the next project. At least dh saved me some room this morning. He had asked me weeks ago to bring some of the creamer bottles (we've taken off the wraps and have ended up with a nice clear bottle to hold screws, M&M's, whatever. Asked him how many he wanted today and he replied ZERO. He decided that what we use this summr will fulfill his needs. I am taking a couple of the smaller bottles -one will most likely have the remains of my morning juice. I'll like that at the hotels as I'm usually left with the choice of orange juice which is too much sugar/calories. I use the light 50 to take my morning meds. I won't have creamer left as that will be gone in about 3 days. Dsonil has some French vanilla which he really isn't using now as he usually has cappuccino and I'll just use that the rest of the week.

Need to go to W M and get some quart size plastic bags for some packing. I bought gallon size last week. Hoping to pack most of my clothes this weekend. Trying to talk dd into taking the wooden rocking horse (she had it made for gd when she first came) to her MIL's for her niece. She has a 3-year old who wants a 'horse' and is expecting another girl in about 2-3 weeks. She decided this would be a good place for this horse since she won't be moving it or keeping for gd down the road. So I just gently suggested we might run it over to Plant City after church tomorrow. She has to put the chlorine bottles in her car anyway as we need to get that after church. It's practically across the street from church. Hopefully dsonil will be motivated to put it in the pump at least once this summer.

Been trying to gather all our info on reservations and printed out copies for each of us to have. Got out 2 plastic envelopes to put these papers in. Already had one for DD, actually, that I had placed a few things I knew she'd need to take with her. The 2nd envelope I got out was for her to put all her paperwork from court/attorney in. Then, hopefully, she won't be hunting for a piece of paper at the last minute. Also made her a bracketed list so she can jot down things she needs to do before leaving: i.e. -changing her phone number, changing their beneficiaries, get dsonil's check auto deposited. It won't do for her to have mail forwarded to her up north and have his check coming up there.

I'm puttering away at my lists and it seems good to begin to cross off some things.

I can't believe I went to bed at 10 p.m. and slept well and didn't get up until 10 a.m. I guess it's timely because we're doing a "Night Run/Walk tonight at 10 p.m. I know I'll be worn out tonight. Nothing besides that on the schedule - I think dh and I are going to C ostco today (remember how P&P called it Cramco?) I always feel like such a "wet blanket" to dh at C ostco but I'm constantly asking "Do we need this or want this?" and trying to tamp down his buying. I try to know what we already have in inventory at home and he would buy regardless. And we don't have that much storage room.

Yesterday was busy, as predicted. I got everything done, got in about an hour of downtime during the day, and we got home from temple about 9 p.m. perhaps. I never got the kitchen cleaned back up from the second round of challah making, and dkids did their part to leave it a mess too altho they did empty and reload the dishwasher.

Need to get rolling today. I hear dh's and another voice outside and I'm still in pajamas drinking iced coffee.

This is only the second Saturday I've been home since Macs passed away. We always had the PT appt at 11 on Sat a.m. so I rarely slept so late on Saturday. I need to print a photo of Macs and send a note to his physical therapist. She loved him too, and he loved her.

How sweet, Twins. Thought your post was Harriet at first for some reason until I went back part way through. Good for you =sleep.

I feel good. Just helped dd sort by size many heavy sweatshirts and then at least as many t-shirts in black. Then we had to fold them and pack them. Have 2 really big boxes packed and 1 smaller box. They're now ready to go to F ed X and she is done printing!!! YAY!! She'll take them to school Monday and go to ship them after school. It's way too hot to be doing these this time of year. If we're going to ship them anyway then DS-A really needs to get his order in March. Unless perhaps dh takes them home. Even I have actual sweat dripping. One more thing done and off our list!!

I've been sort of packing my things and I think I can do more in a while after I take a break. DD was going to put the chlorine bottles in her jeep and then take a much needed shower. It is now 87 in the shade but trust me, it was much warmer than that in the garage which faces the sun. Nice to be done. This is something they'll really have to think about before moving all this printing, embroidery stuff when they find a new location. Question would be: do they really want to keep at this. Dsonil 'thinks' he does, but with every passing year they become less inclined. The only thing they're doing right now is DS-A's shirts. That was well over 200 t-shirts and heavy sweatshirts -both safety green and black (for the shop). He's always had all green before but decided they were getting too spotted and messed up when working on equipment. DD made a small one for dgs2 -cute. Also made a drawstring bag with the logo on it. Sure dgs will use it for match boxes or trucks.

Great job on sleep at the perfect time for the walk, Twins'.

Have been trying to concentrate on the right meals today, after last night's pizza delivery confusion that had us eating at 9 at night and certainly the wrong things. Have made shake/smoothies twice, with different ingredients, so lots of nutrition.

HRH and dstepson ended up working on vehicle mini-projects.

Ready for church tomorrow. I have to think of/carry a lot of little things for the different "jobs".

I really need a better tote. I have some that are too small and one that would be ideal except too large. Need to put in a little online search time, I think.

Chat turned to shopping for clothes yesterday, waiting with the other teen (boy) families. I was surprised that all the boys said they hit the stores for everything and request mostly gift cards for large dept stores. I was the only Mom who said I use online ordering for tee shirts, for instance, although we all agreed kids (especially boys) go through them rapid-fire. I actually felt they were missing some opportunities. I get a selection of .. um ... anything to find exactly what kids ask for at a better price. Got a dramatic all-over dinosaur design tee for my paleontologist, DangerBoy, for instance. Saw it for several prices and just picked and chose the best price right from my desk.

Next up - washing my hair to put up for tomorrow.

Happy & content after a fun day out with dh, a delicious lunch, & a nice long walk outside. We went to a craft show several towns away & then strolled around the town, browsing in all the interesting little shops. We try to visit here at least every other year. The show is always well done with a nice mix of vendors, & this year although the forecast was for sunny, hot & humid, the sun played peek-a-boo with the clouds quite often, & there was a nice breeze that kept us cool & comfy.

Hi Harriet, I liked your opening for today so much that I just had a spontaneous family meeting with dh who is sitting a few feet away at his desk (we share an office here at home). It was about our lack of progress -- OK, no progress -- on our basement project. This was supposed to be the month we really focused on this area, & so many last minute things popped up for both of us that we haven't worked even one day down there. I just asked dh if he had any plans on Monday, & he doesn't. He agreed to work a few hours with me on that day

Hi Dee, I'm inspired by your set of lists, grouping together similar tasks. Very organized, & almost a guarantee that something important won't be forgotten.

Hi Twins, sending you cyber energy for your Night Run/Walk. I do remember how P&P used to call C ostco Cramco, heehee! ((Hugs)) for you as you miss your four-legged boys. The picture of Macs for his physical therapist is such a nice idea.

I talked dh into a light dinner tonight after our indulgences at the craft show. I'll make some salads with either chicken salad or egg salad on the side. Think I'll get started on that now, & when I pass by the wall calendar I'll write "Work in basement" on Monday's square
