Wonderful Weather Wednesday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

The cold weather will supposedly be banished today, the day dawned sunny (and a UV warning for later today) and there's no visible wind on the balcony so I'm hoping for a wonderful day.

It has been so windy lately, I haven't been riding my bike. And even when it wasn't windy, it has been so cold, I haven't been using the balcony. Looking forward to adding those summer activities to my lifestyle.

What's the weather like where you are?

I'm up. Having tea and chocolate.

Dd and I are going out shopping this afternoon. We both have Costco runs to do and it will be more fun to do them together and easier for her to buy all she needs since she doesn't have to bike it home.

Update from my sister's FB account. Because she finally filed a report with the transit company (after tweeting them over and over for 5 hours demanding they give her a contact other than the general complaint contact) the police contacted her and informed her that her Good Samaritan encountered the assailant last night after leaving the subway station and there was a scuffle while he detained the creep waiting for the police. The police didn't know who to believe (because my sister had not left her name or filed a report) so let both go. Now that she has come forward, they will try and locate the creep and she will press charges.

Sigh.... if she had just gone forward with asking for police on Monday night, the poor Good Samaritan would not have been suspected of anything by the police. Thank heavens for him that he was willing to step in and get involved. But my sister will not remember that when she talks about how all men oppress women and abuse their privilege at every opportunity. Oh, and my sister sees herself as the one protecting women in the area! I see the safety of women in the area being secured by the Good Samaritan who stayed involved even when the 'victim' didn't want to pursue things.

Point well taken, Kathryn. Like here, when neighbors of guardian who wouldn't press charges against gd for bbreaking & entering. It would have kept her safer to be held by the police. One more day....

The weather looks good here so far. Had storms again last night. My computer has been unplugges often of late.

Have gotten a lot done so far this morning: bed made, meds done, breakfast, washed and pouffed my hair, one lol is now in the dryer, took care of clean dishes, did up the dishes from last night/this morning, threw the throw rugs in the washer, swept the kitchen (now I can't find the standing dustpan so I have a 'pile'). I am not dressed as I washed all my clothes. I'll strip the bed and do the sheets tomorrow. Doubt anyone will use the bed before we return in the fall so sheets will be 'almost' squeaky clean. :) I may wait until tomorrow to mop up the kitchen. That will give dlab (Bailey) less chance to spot it up. Doubt it will get done again before dd returns mid-August. (At least that's what we're hoping for her return).

The attorney called last night. Told dd that the ONLY thing on the table tomorrow in court is the permanent restraining order and he sees no problem. (We all say prayerfully). Once that's done other things can happen but most likely will not involve dd/dsonil. Know she was much more relaxed last night. She and dsonil do have to have a paper notarized tomorrow allowing guardian to give up guardianship. So we may or may not know where that all goes. So ready to get back to our normal life (is there such a thing?)

Dsonil put air in my tires this morning. For some reason my back right was down to 29 pounds from 37. Couldn't see anything in it so will keep an eye on the pressure. This is the same tire we've had problems with ever since we bought the car. Actually it's the 2nd tire. They put a new one on when the car was maybe 2 or 3 weeks old. They tried to tell me I had picked up something that split the road side of the tire from the side. They ended up giving us a certificate for $200 for this one tire. I have to wonder if there's something with that rim???? Want to somehow get some rain - x on our windows. It makes such a difference driving in rain (and we're supposed to encounter a lot of it). Can I say I'm definitely not a fan of driving on wet roads or in the rain. So I'm praying for dry pavement to be under my wheels the entire trip.
My doctor said I can't drive for a week.
Probably we aren't surprised by that. Did they change anything or come to any conclusions, CathyS?

Hope the weather is wonderful where you are. So many from Sheville really need the sun to shine for a while.

That is frustrating about your sister, Kathryn. Glad you love her and try to help her as you can.

Weather here is. . . perfect! :) Summer here in Michigan is lovely! It is clear and sunny, a little wind, and the high is forecast to be 75 - not too hot and not too cool.

((Cathy))
I'm ready for you to get back to a more normal life too, Dee. Hope all goes well with the continued paperwork for dd and dsil. Are you driving back by yourself? I know you will be happy to be back with your dh.

Yesterday was full for me with moms group teaching team meeting in the morning (9:15 - 11-ish) and then getting the groc. shopping done - 2 stops and I still couldn't find everything (grumblings below) and going in to work early since I'd been out the last 3 school days. Then, dfriend R joined us for dinner, teriyaki trout, rice, spinach salad w/ strawberries, and bread. S and baby J (and dd19) are out of town, returning tonight.

I've been up for 1.5 hours but haven't done much. I have checked email and web sites, checked phone messages, emailed a friend who left a message for dd19, texted the same message to dd19 (friend is asking dd19 to babysit tomorrow but dd19 won't be back in town until this evening), unloaded the dw, taken the chicken out of the fridge to thaw faster, and had my tea.

Next, I'm going to have some QT, finish reclaiming the kitchen, and s2s and do self-care.

Later, I need to:
- cook up the chicken for dinner (chicken enchiladas with mole' sauce)
- prep for class
- put a check in the mail
- look at the curriculum's quizzes to see how they will work/not work for my class this week
- WF for good salsa; my current groc. store is now a dud since it's been bought out by K r oger and is not restocking its shelves. I'm not sure the new store will restock some of my specialty brands. The checkers are saying they're not going to restock everything. . . . We'll see. This is making groc. shopping very inconvenient and rather frustrating as I'm figuring out which stores in town carry which brands of which items. I've found my morning tea, deodorant, and corn bread mix at other places. I've found an alternate brand for the soy-vey teriyaki sauce we like. Would still like to locate my brand of yogurt, choc. chips, salsa, herbal tea, rice cakes (I've found them online) and type of F iber O ne bars, to name a few other items.
- meet my mentee at 1:15
- payroll, probably from 3 - 5:45-ish
- dinner crew: 2 or 3 friends will be here - and baby J too, of course. Chicken enchiladas with mole' sauce, chips and salsa, green salad or watermelon. .

I was given a new prescription at the hospital yesterday. When I went to pick up the pills, they were much larger than the previous ones. The prescription itself was also changed to more actual pills each time. When I pointed that out to the pharmacist, he blamed the doctor. Doctor says it's a viral inner ear infection.

Still spinny today.

The plan is for me to drive my car and dd to drive her own. We are sort of 'driving alone' in as much as I plan to leave early Friday morning on my way to Dunn, NC. We have reserved a hotel room there. DD plans to leave from school when she's done there. They have a teacher appreciation lunch at 11:30 which she needs to attend. Other than that she'll be done as long as she has everything done in her rooms. (They have several including their own offices). She's hoping to have everything done there so there will be little left Friday morning. She has to come back home to pick up dBailey. She'll travel I-4 to 295 to 95 and will most likely make better time than me. She can also drive later than I'm able. We'll keep in touch. Then on Saturday we'll leave together and have stopping points planned out so we don't have to absolutely 'follow' each other. We feel that makes a difficult drive even harder when trying to keep track of the other car. We may end up fairly closet together but not having to watch out for the other. Nice that we have cell phones these days. Have to make sure mine is connected to my blue tooth in the car. For some reason it's not any more.

On my way over to dsisil's. We're going to lunch. She really wants to go to I -HOP today which surprised me. She's almost always against any chain, but she has her mouth watering for something on their menu. Reminds me of meeting up with Twins 2 or 3 years ago. :D DD said she wants to go over there tomorrow afternoon after the court proceeding and tell them what's happening. Not sure how that will go but will be praying. Whether dsisil likes it or not this is what will happen. I've avoided the subject of gd altogether for some time. Last was when they asked for her address at Christmas time. We most likely will not have an address after tomorrow and that's okay. DBIL does know a whole lot more than dsisil and how much of that he's shared is anyone's guess. Hopefully, he has shared some that dh has given him. It will be nice not to have that elephant in the room between us.

Forecast is scattered storms today. We've had so much rain, not like Lady M or Texas, but it seems like it just keeps coming. I got in a walk last night - after storms had passed through it was cooler with a nice breeze. and this morning was nice when I got the newspaper. Likely to be hotter and more humid later.

I spent a little time last night looking at family trees on Ancestry.com. There are a lot of trees that include a specific ancestor - most show his date of death as 2 Nov 1876 without any source shown. Note that I've never found when he died, however.....he is listed in the 1880 census, so he could not have died in 1876! Sheesh. Whoops, here's another that has him in NY in 1875 when he lived in TN all his life and also has him getting married in Arkansas.

Oooooh, need to get rolling. We're supposed to work on dd's room later.

-breakfast, meds
-fold three loads of laundry, put away
-start another lol
-kitchen clean up
-throw on clothes and walk for a mile

Good morning! I got the four most important items on my list done last night: ream swamp cooler 'spider', email processing, card for graduate, and church website work. DD13 and I played badminton instead of cleaning her room. She has decided she does not want to see REO Speedwagon because their songs are too slow. Bummer for me, but cheaper. My computer was so slow that I spent wait time putting away LOLs (not done yet) and cleaning up the blood from whichever cat laid the trail (still don't know who).

Tonight, there is more church webwork and/or animal org minutes. It is not likely I can get both done tonight. The webwork has been pending longer so I should probably do that. I also need to do some cooking so I will have lunches for work.

I have a meeting today that I am not looking forward to. I am supposed to know lots about internal analysis services and I don't. However, I never claimed to and I was randomly assigned the topic, so it is not like I will be caught in a lie.

I am glad to hear that CathyS has an answer and some meds.
