Home from being out with dd. Then out with dh. Then out with the walking club. I'll make 10k steps again today.
After weeks and weeks barely able to make 7K, I seem to be doing 10K more often than not. That all changed when I started physio therapy. Yay!
BTW: my wrist isn't bad enough for the brace any more. It just needed a day of immobilization as forced rest.
The groceries are all put away but the dishes need doing and the bathrooms need cleaning. After that, the focus will be on paperwork.
I took the Eager to Love book back to the library today because it was due and put myself on the bottom of the wait list for it. I only made it to page 89. I have lots of notes from it, though. I picked up Non Violent Communication. But the first bullet on the back was a wash-out as far as communicating with my sister goes. When I was talking with her yesterday she mentioned that she had lost her wallet late last week but got it back, without the cash.
The communication book says "put your primary focus on connection through empathetic listening rather than "being right" or "getting what you want."" so I said, "You've had a rough week, haven't you." I thought that was being empathetic but she responded with "NO! I haven't. Lots of good things happened." While, technically, that is true (her Good Samaritan and she got the wallet back with her ID and credit cards intact), the non-combative, non-being-right answer would have been, "Yes, I have but a lot of good things happened." Instead she shot me down as if I hadn't a clue what her week was like.
What she doesn't know is that I am considering inviting her to join us at White Point but to be honest I can't think of any reason I'd want to have her there. Everything I say is wrong (if I comment on the blue sky, she'll argue with me that it isn't blue.) So to put myself through that voluntarily is a scary thought.
Dh and I were talking about it in the car and he commented on some of dd's remarks about how she found my sister last time they were together and asked, "could it be the Alzheimers staring early?" and asked what will happen to her. I pointed out that it will likely fall to me. Mom was a joy to care for, she was so gentle and sweet and thankful for any care anyone gave her. I'm thinking my sister won't be.
To make life easy I suggested McD for dinner. Seriously, I don't know what is wrong with me. I'm feeling so sick now, just as I do every time we go there. Dh loves it. Me, it makes sick since my gall bladder came out. But I wanted burgers and he's been stuck inside for all day so I thought going to his favourite place would be a nice treat for him.

Re: Wonderful Weather Wednesday
Good Afternoon, All. We've had lots of sunshine today, temp. is now 84*.
((Dee)), will be thinking of dd tomorrow, and you both on Friday when you head north. Hopefully the weather will be better than it has been the last few days.
((Cathy)), hope the new meds are helping you feel better. I had a bout of vertigo back in the med 80s and I remember all I could do was lay on the sofa with my eyes closed for two days before feeling better.
((Nancy)), so sorry to hear you lost your daunt. Was she near you or out of state?
Harriet, I hope the rift between family members heals soon, or at least they can agree to disagree and move on.
Harmony, enjoy your visit with dd and dgkids. What are dgd's favorite foods? Make that for her; sorry I can't help with dd, though.
Lucy, you've been doing really well with your routines. When my dh turns into Grumpy Man I just fade into another room into my own little world!
Kathryn, I'm glad your dsis did make that report --- hope they find the guy! You know, with some people nothing a persons says is the right thing, it's always the opposite -- even when it's not! ((hugs)).
I managed to keep myself busy most of the day. I was looking for something (can't remember what it was now) and looked in the china closet drawer. I ended up taking everything out and reorganizing it. Threw lots of stuff out, and it looks nice and neat with aprons, some seasonal tea towels and pot holders, birthday candles & holders, battery candles (from Ikea) and two glass candle holders (used when the power goes out). That was the main focus for today, plus I puttered at a few small jobs, too.
Dh decided he wanted to make some cookies, mainly for ds#2-J and his dfamily while we are on vacation. He is making chocolate chip, white chocolate chip and seven layer bars. He never does anything by halves! I keep asking if he needs help and what can I do....he always says nothing! I guess this is his thing that he does for his dfamily! He will be extra tired tonight.
I think I'll go wash and set my hair. It usually lasts for three or four days till I need to do it again. That makes it just right for the weekend.

Re: Wonderful Weather Wednesday
Off to bed now.
The dishes got done then I messed up something in the kitchen and had to leave it for dh to fix.
Got quicken updated and am looking at a budget. Don't like the budgeting features in quicken now so am thinking of drawing up a budget in excel and copying numbers over. It seems dumb but seriously, the new quicken budget features don't work for me at all. The record keeping part is fine, it is the budget part.
Will do the account reconciliation and the bathrooms in the morning.

Re: Wonderful Weather Wednesday
lucylee, "lost enthusiasm" is a reason that comes up around here, too.
Kathryn, I feel for you, being steered into hopeless positions when you try to have a meaningful conversation. It's almost like your dsis is waiting to hear what you'll say, knowing that she only plans to disagree, not contemplate what you have said. Does it help to call her on it and point out how the conversation just went (while it's fresh in mind)? I wonder if hearing her words back to her quickly would show her that she just put you (or would have put anyone) in an impossible conversational situation.
When we were out today I found 3 new kitchen and/or bath hand towels in blue/ecru. A stripe and two different checks. Just what I needed.

Re: Wonderful Weather Wednesday
Hi everyone! A long deferred task is now done!!! I have combined two pages of the church website to make room for a new page we need. Our account is limited to 10 pages. I have sent emails to the pastor and youth director to look it over. Once everything is done to their satisfaction, it is a matter of a single button to publish.
I have done catboxes, but still need to do cat food. I am cooking lunch for tomorrow and am about to get a snack before bed. I THINK I might get to bed by 11 pm tonight, which would certainly be an improvement.
