Good Morning Nancy

I'm sipping on coffee and the TV is on but no one is watching it. The little ones turned it on to Nick Jr channel while they are enjoying a slow wake-up morning. That lasted about 5 minutes then they were ready to play

I am also having a slow morning. I have been outside and finished the pool chores. Also made French toast & bacon for everyone breakfast. I modified the recipe to make it lower carb and higher protein. I like the taste of this version more than the *normal* recipe!

Today is town wide garage sale. I want to drive past several of them in hopes of finding furniture to put into the guest room. I will buy the mattresses new, but the other furniture I hope to find at a bargain. Yesterday I found a high quality leather chair in perfect condition at a ridiculously low price. I am hopeful to find more.

Busy morning here already. The guy showed up to pressure wash porches and driveway at 8:30 and dh woke me up then. He wasn't supposed to be here until 9 but I might have still been asleep then too. Not doing a great job. He's working on driveway right now and will need to come back to the back patio before he's done. He washed the patio, then the furniture while it was sitting on the patio, so whatever cobwebs and schmutz was washed off the furniture is on the patio.

I went to H ome Despot with dh earlier - I needed to get there earlier this week for light bulbs and refrigerator filter anyway. Also got a $3 houseplant for inside or patio.

I don't know exactly what is on our agenda for today. Dh bought a new sprayer at HD and we need to get mulch spread. I'd like to clean out the garage some and clean up my stamping area.

Took LO & DGD4 to the library to return his library books. Normally I take care of checking out & returning his books, but thought LO was old enough to do it himself. I told LO he needed to turn in his books and ask how much late fines he owed. He marched up to the library counter and said "How much are you going to pay me?" Argh! Obviously I needed to explain the process better. The librarian told LO that the books were still in the "Grace Period" and he didn't owe any late fines. LO was very serious when he told the librarian "But I don't know anyone named Grace and she didn't have my books". LO really had no clue about the process so we started from the beginning explaining the library book lending process.

Found a dining room table & chairs at garage sale. It was a heavy built solid wood table with 4 heavy wood chairs for a great price.. It took me two trips to haul it home. Redneck style. DH would have NEVER done it the way I did, but HEY! I got 'er done.

I intended to put this table & chairs in the guest room but once I got it home I changed my mind. I am going to swap this big heavy table & chairs with a lighter weight table/chairs. The lighter weight table & chairs has been in our extended family for about 100 years but I doubt if it will continue to hold up with heavy usage. DCousin just finished renovating the table/chair set before I got it so I really don't want it torn up. By moving the 100 year old table/chair set into the guest room hopefully it will have many many more years of use in our family.

Normally I would not bat an eye at moving all these furniture around by myself. However, I made myself stop and wait for DH to arrive home. I will wait until after heart test are done before doing anymore heavy lifting. Although I pick DGD4 up and she weighs 43 lbs so I guess definition of "heavy" lifting is up for interpretation.

LadyM Dh and I both enjoyed the library story! I also enjoyed the 911 story (from H&F) the other day.

I went garage saling too. Biked around because it was faster. The neighbourhood has a completely different feel on weekends and I realized we weren't getting out often on weekends so I had missed it. During the weekdays when we walk/bike around we see other retired people or a few toddlers at the play park. On the weekends, the streets have lots of children playing around and families are out biking or walking.

I scored a nice shirt (I hope, it was hard to tell because I only had a window reflection to judge by), earrings, a candle/plant holder for the outdoor dining table and some plate holders. I also scored a book from the giveaway shelf in our garage as I went to get my bike!

Came home and dh had already pulled everything away from the windows getting blinds. The installer comes in about an hour. We are getting blinds for the two office and two kitchen windows. It will do a lot to cool down those two rooms and perhaps increase my interest in using both the treadmill (it is in the direct sun from 11 - 7 these days) or cooking (when you aren't blinded by the sunlight by working, it is easier to think about cooking dinner.)

We had a nice egg lunch (me omelet, dh scrambled.) My omelet turned out perfectly and I commented that I'm getting good at making them. Dh said, "Bet you never thought you'd say that." and I agreed since 6 years ago I didn't even eat omelet!

I cleaned up the lunch and breakfast dishes and then cleaned the windows. Then, since I had the step stool out, I cleaned the vent grill in the kitchen which was dirty again. This time I removed the taupe paint (everywhere that was metal originally had oil paint and they repainted with latex so it keeps peeling off) and then had dh removed the whole vent box from the wall so I could clean the louvers behind the vent. It looks much, much, better now.

I'm taking a break now, cuop and then I'll tidy the apartment. Here I really notice my bad habit of dropping stuff when I walk in the door.

Wed I did as much around here as I could...did not feel motivated very much though. Did get groceries, since I couldn't figure out what to make exactly, I just got some of everything, made the meats and asked what I should make for the rest of the meals.

Thurs. was crazy. Two trips out to jobsite and 1 to supplier while I was finishing up here... 2 trip to employee still recovering, beds all remade, floors mopped, bathrooms cleaned, switched all my stuff so I could give guest room to DGSons. We made trips out to outside playground/skateboard park, wildlife place. Put up card table in living room and put together 3 jig saw puzzles, the last one several times with DGD because she liked it.

They left just before dinner yesterday and I slept all afternoon, all night, until 9:30 this morning! It just wears me out to be with the little ones. I'd even run around a field with DGS kicking the soccer ball. They have no idea how much effort it takes to be Grandma!

Today was a few hours of very very important paperwork stacked up. Trip to employee's for his forms which I got out with mine. Have been helping DH with truck, we worked on brakes again and now he's back with break booster which was probably the problem all along...so I best go out and see how that's going.

I am having a hard day, a little bit because of immediate things and a little more because of things that I must finally address.

Exhausted from writing an involved email as I attempt to untangle the threads of the fuss between some of my extended family. I am trying to show one cousin that at least part of it was a misunderstanding, however complicated, but I must walk on eggshells. I finally asked HRH to dare me to just send it. He did and I did so if something is going to hit the fan at least "a brave woman dies but once".

Added to that it was SAT day. Of course nearby schools weren't sites and had to drive a long way. Not feeling so well - allergies. Rapid fire texts have begged dd to be the 3rd wheel (not saying "chaperone") on a first date with/for the daughter of a couple we know. Also texts to her from the mother. HRH is worried about that because "the mall" sounds so simple but that doesn't mean crime doesn't happen there. I just feel put-upon.

It is Saturday evening and some church work (which is not promised before tomorrow but would be helpful) is not done. That makes me irritated with my extended family member (at least one) and irritated with teenagers' social lives.
