Well, good for you, Nancy! :D
I am not feeling particularly sassy today, but dh might disagree, LOL!

We've been to church, and since we got home (we have a 9:00 a.m. service) I have done most of my Sunday "chores":
* checked grocery list & coupons (dh always makes out weekly list as soon as we return from shopping on Mondays, but I add to it as necessary
* watered plants (using that term loosely for some of them... they look pretty pitiful)
* took allergy shots
* wrote check for newspaper man
* refilled weekly meds
* took blood pressure (trying to check it once a week)

Now, to read the papers, eat lunch, and generally have a relaxing Sunday. Hope you ALL have a great day -- and don't let that sassiness get y'all in trouble, now... ;)
Tomorrow is another day.

Bling on your tuchas, Nancy! You are a sassy granny.

I quickly lost steam yesterday after the trip out. I tried to explain to dh how motivation and enthusiasm "leaks away" when one leaves the grounds.

We are going to the market soon. We partially put the back patio back together after yesterday's pressure washing.

Good morning.

Finally!! Two days off! I need to get some things done around here, including finding out why the check engine light on my car is lighted up. That has
never happened in the ten years we've owned it.

Have a great day, everyone.

Nancy, you look pretty in your new jeans!

I have played hookey from church again. DH is distressed that I haven't been going, only sporadically. I am dissatisfied with several things our church is doing that I consider major stumbling blocks. We're gonna have to have that conversation...

I've focused on getting the house back up to normal. Gathered up all the garbage (extra bag since we had company) and doing a boatload of dishes. And I've done an internet search on things related to the above.

Looking like rain later on maybe so I don't know if we'll get to the beach. Yesterday I spent at least another 3 hours helping with the truck repair... which is better now but maybe not entirely fixed... and that is frustrating.

Anyway, I do hope you all will have a wonderful Sunday!

RunKitty - some of the auto parts stores around here will use hand-held computer to tell details of Check Engine code. It only takes about 2 minutes and is free. Hope you are able to find a solution easily.

Church was wonderful this morning. A rare time when DH and I were able to sit together and listen to the preaching. We are usually serving or taking care of DGD4 & LO. Today was the first time that DGD4 would let me out of her sight. When I took her to little kids classroom, DGD4 told me "you can go now". WhoooooHOOOO!!! She is growing up and becoming confident.

I also experience another moment with DGD4 that has me jumping for joy. At the beginning of worship service, DGD4 started to throw a temper fit because LO's chair had something hers didn't. I picked DGD4 up, sat her on my lap and whispered into her ear. She stopped crying so she could hear what I was saying (I was whispering how wonderful she is). It was just that simple! She immediately snuggled deeper into my lap, calmed down and got a good attitude.

We ate out after church and both the children sat quietly in their seats and were well mannered through the entire meal. OH HOW WONDERFUL this is!!!

Hopefully the phase of Terrible Twos & Tantrum Threes are behind us.

Back from the market - it sure was hot today! Bought tomatoes, blueberries, fresh mozzarella and peach salsa. I laid down for a little nap when we got back - I don't think I slept tho. I have a headache going, was hoping the nap helped but didn't.

-make peach cobbler
-clear breakfast bar counter
-planning for the week
-water plants (I started this earlier)
-enter one bit of genealogy data and source

Not sure I feel sassy but I guess I was a bit after church today. The minister was laughing at me because I was in the kitchen chatting and helping out. (It wasn't my church!)

Had a rough night and my fitbit alarm (for 8 a.m. meds) woke me up. Got going slowly because I was sore (that's why I had a rough night.) But I was moving as fast as I could because I figured we had to leave by 9:15.

I s2s and then had breakfast. Dried and styled my hair and then left at 9:20. Dh had just stepped out of the shower but I figured I'd be slower on the bike than he so left before him. The church is 3 miles away and fairly easy bike ride (one bit on a busy road, one bit in industrial which is quiet on Sunday, and the rest is residential or bike lane.) The only downside is the uphill trend. I had to walk up one steep hill but managed the rest, although going very slowly at times. I actually heard myself saying "you can do this", "almost there!" and other affirmations on the ride.

Got to the church after about 25 minutes and changed out of biking pants into skirt. Dh still hadn't arrived so I made him a name tag and waited by the door to the sanctuary chatting with people. He came up just as the choir was starting a prelude.

This was choir appreciation Sunday so there were 5 pieces by the choir. They have a baby grand piano and a drum kit, so the 'good music program' item can be checked off our church shopping list.

This is my childhood church (I was there from age 2 - 20, 24 - 29.5 and was confirmed there as well as my first marriage.) There were people there this morning who remembered us.

But even without people knowing me, it was a very welcoming church (another tick mark.) Before walking through the door, 3 people had greeted me in the parking lot. The minister is on sabbatical but there are retired ministers associated with the congregation and one of them was doing the service this morning. One of the members of dh's choir attends there and dh had 8 people invite him to join the choir. (Another tick mark.)

And yes, it really did feel like home (tick!) which is why I ended up in the kitchen chatting with a member of the board. We were making ourselves tea since it hadn't been made yet for coffee hour and because all the mugs had been used up, I was putting out more.

The church has changed a fair bit since we left 25 years ago, all good things. The choir loft has been shifted and is now handicap accessible (as is the church itself with the addition of a lift.) They just added stain glass last year (discretely - this is a very plain church - tick!) and a beautiful textile hanging over the cross.

The church has become quite liberal and is very into social justice programs (tick!) They marched last week for the Truth and Reconciliation March (that's why I was up early while at Conference, as I was marching in Montreal as part of the movement.)

In a delightful coincidence, the minister who was there when we left, was visiting today. It was him, who put me in front of a church for the first time. I was so nervous, he had me come in mid-week and practiced with me, slowing me down, teaching me to pause a beat after a comma and two beats after a period. He taught me that when the congregation was reading a response along with me, they'd be a beat behind and practiced that with me so I wouldn't get flustered on the day. It was so wonderful to be able to thank him for that opportunity and tell him that I was now a worship leader. I got a big hug for that!

So it was a wonderful time at church this morning.

We biked to a nearby diner (between church and home) and had lunch. I thought of Lady M's after church lunch spot and thought "I could make this a tradition too!"

Then after a brief stop at a hardware store we biked on to the Ottawa Mosque. This is Doors Open weekend when you can tour buildings that you might drive by all the time and wonder about. Some are older, some are churches, the Jewish Archives were opened up, and then there are the interesting places like Canadian Blood Services blood processing lab or the water filtration plant. This year we decided to go to the mosque in our neighbourhood since we can see it from our apartment.

It was very interesting and our guide, a young woman, answered all our questions. After, I was chatting with a young girl (maybe 14) and she wanted to know what goes on in our church on a Sunday. So I ended up staying a lot longer and describing that to her. She is from Libya and another young girl from Lebanon so she was telling me how the mosque is more important to life here than in Libya. (Here it is the Muslim community and religious home but in Libya it is just a building you go to for services but celebrations take place in the community, not at the mosque because all the community is Muslim.)

I'm home now, resting my legs. My left leg is still very sore. I have to keep reminding myself that my physio therapist encourages pain levels up to 3 if I'm working my leg. Well, I'm there now.

Will do a round of physio now and see if I can work the level down a bit. I get to take another advil after that.

Kathryn, a lot of our bar/bat mitzvah kids don't get this, even tho they work with the rabbi for about a year. It sounds like a very positive experience all around. I love it when I hear from visitors and new members that our congregation is welcoming; I hope we are consistent.

Peach cobbler is in the oven, but that's all. Back to Li&t.

Twins: I'm not sure I actually followed that advice that day, I was so very nervous! But I learned it. And, I was not a young teen but a mother of 1 or 2 at the time. So more open to being taught, perhaps.

I've sat here doing nothing for the last 90 minutes. Including take my next pill. Seriously, that's what pain/discomfort does to me, I become a slug as I try and avoid moving and feeling worse.

At the very least, I will start moving now. Only because I drank a lot of water after getting home and the inevitable has happened!
