Three loads of laundry are done and vacuuming the whole apartment is done.
I'm exhausted. Still have to go to physio in 25 minutes.

Re: Monday Normalcy
That sounds like a very wonderful time with dear friends with long histories together, RRose!! It sounds like it was a delightful lunch in all ways. I think that kind of group must be unique in the workplace. That level of openness and intimacy does sound similar to some of the intimate friendships I have with women in my church (and past churches), in moms group small groups and/or especially through church small group. Girl friends who have walked through life with you, who laugh with you, cry with you, hear the deepest parts of your heart (not necessarily the prettiest parts) with compassion, hope, and commitment - those are wonderful friends. Yes, we each need safe places.

Re: Monday Normalcy
Hi everyone! My swamp cooler is finally working after great pain in the butt and great expense. Some of the money I put into savings had to come out again. <SIGH>. I went to two parties and unfortunately the x and the other woman were at both. <More SIGH>. My chicken keeping friend is still offended by the fact that I do not like her chickens. This is because 100% of the time I see them I get attacked. Of course, in her eyes, it is all my fault. Last time I saw the evil birds from Hades, my friend had us all out on the backyard patio and the chickens were roaming the yard. DD13 wanted to play tetherball, so we did. No chickens within 20 feet. We were not even looking at them. Apparently, it is ok for the the rooster to attack us because in her words "He was defending the hens". WTF??? She also said I should ask permission before going into her yard, but she had TOLD US to go on the patio, and in fact given us no choice since that was where dinner was being served. In her words, we were not supposed to leave the patio!!! (At no time did she say to stay on the patio and there was no door or boundary that we had to open or cross). And she thinks it's offensive that I hate her chickens??? She keeps asking "How would you feel if I hated your cats?" I keep telling her that (a) it would be meaningless and (b) I would expect her to hate my cats if they attacked her. Keep in mind, I am not the only person who has been attacked by her chickens. She has forbidden me to go in her yard unless the chickens are put away. I told her I never WANTED to be in her yard when the chickens were out, yep, even more offended. She seems to think she is punishing me by denying me the company of the chickens from H*LL. I find it quite a relief! One day, someone's kid will be hurt, and she will have serious legal problems. There will not be anyone she can call on to testify how "sweet" (her words) those chickens are without committing perjury. I will certainly testify for the other side, and with great pleasure. My other chicken keeping friend is annoyed about it too, AND SHE WITNESSED THE INCIDENT!!! Why am I expected to like these birds?
I have had two meetings this morning, so not much actual payroll WORK has been done. At the second meeting, the leader was annoyed because my definition was not on the spreadsheet. She had sent the draft of the spreadsheet earlier. I pointed out that it was missing and sent the data. She asked for the data in another format, so I sent it AGAIN. Never got put in. She typed it in at the meeting, so now it is definitely in the master spreadsheet.
I am having a lot of trouble with people lately.

Normalcy...
That would be nice.
I have had vague anxiety trouble the last couple of nights, to the point of being unable to sleep, and it seems to center on this obsession I have re: discarding old journals, poetry, etc. Scared I'll regret it if I DO... scared I'll look stupid after death if I DON'T... (Why I would CARE about after death, I don't know, but I don't want to leave ds/ddil with more confirmation than they already have that I was a nut.)
DH was talking about this a few days ago, saying cleaning out his mother's house made him more aware of what you leave behind for others.
Nancy -- and anyone else who journals -- tell me again how you handle this push/pull of what to keep, what to discard.
Lots of devotional readings recommend keeping prayer journals, but even that can become "too personal" sometimes...
I'm thinking I need to go through and read, imagining I am ds/ddil/dgs... and just tear out and destroy anything that causes me to pause.
F lylady's focus for the week is paper clutter, and dh will be playing golf * hopefully * on Wed. -- but I don't want to go out and start burning a bunch of stuff and create a 911-call fire alarm, like he did not too long ago.
Otherwise, we are still doing laundry around here, and I need to s2s and later, head out to Wmart.
(((Elizabeth))) I am just LOL and * shaking my head * at your crazy chicken friend. (Friend?) Ugh. I would say Good Riddance to her if I never heard from her AGAIN. Her attitude is just insane. (((Hugs))) for the unpleasant parties, too.
Rose, dh and I were talking last night about how close-knit our faculty was. I really miss talks with my dfriends there -- and I am a bit troubled b/c my very best friend just retired and it seems I am ALWAYS the one to call HER. So I'm trying NOT to call. I sent her an email the last week of school and told her to call me when she got all the loose ends tied up, etc... Going on 3 weeks now... not a word. Saw her sister at graduation, asked how she was, told sister, "Tell her to call me..." Not a word. Saw her son last Saturday, asked how she was... he said "Stir crazy since she retired." Told him "Tell her to call me..." Not a word. So I'm beginning to feel sorta paranoid.
Waving to ALL!

Re: Monday Normalcy
Elizabeth, your friend (?) sounds as mean as her chickens!
Lucylee, I do have a couple journals. My book journal is simple with observations about what books I've read and ones I'd like to. Harmless. I keep it for me. My other one, well when I write in it I'm aware that others might someday read it. I'll probably keep it too. I would have loved it if either of my dparents had kept a diary that I might have gotten to know them better. I think one expects to read some secrets in someone else's diary. Maybe tear out anything that's critical of other family members who might read some day. Would you miss them? Well, do you ever look back on them and reread? I guess that would be the key.
My errands took me to the ends of 2 counties. I had to stop for gas also, and another stop for stuff for DH. But all that is done, unfortunately I came back bushed. Had lunch and a nap. Need to start again:
fold 1 LOL.
start dinner
sweep floor.

Re: Monday Normalcy
Just got back from errand run, Lowes, T J M axx, and groceries. Wanted to start spray painting outside patio table but it is very windy and looks almost like rain moving in. Watching the weather, if the wind drops I'll ck the radar and might get started later. Meanwhile, I need just a bit more downtime as I sip iced coffee, and then I'll get moving again.
----------------------------------------------------------
And a little later..... we have a "significant weather advisory so outside spray painting probably isn't a good plan, and I don't want to use the garage where we might have overspray. So moving on to other stuff....
-finish putting away groceries
-clean out under kitchen sink, reorganize and put things away
-nag ds about mailing off his engineer certification application, whatever it's called.
-purge refrigerator
-start lasagne sauce
Elizabeth, sounds like your dfriend is overly attached to those chickens. I'd stay clear of her and the chickens! Glad the swamp cooler is working, also.

Looks like the data cube at payroll has been eaten. That does not make it easy to work on programs that access the cube, does it? I have emailed the appropriate people. If I don't get an answer soon, I will move on to training tasks. But I want to make progress on these reports!
My friend with the chickens also decided at the Saturday party that "since you are getting along so well" (we are polite), she would invite the x and the other woman to the Sunday party, which was originally scheduled without them. She seems to think if I spend enough time around distasteful people (and birds) that I will eventually come to like them. Um ... nope.
Just got my answer on the data cube. I am to hold off on doing anything with it. Time for training videos.
