Re: Working Wednesday
In spite of all of my good intentions, my house is a mess and Aunt P comes for a visit today. Dh is picking her up at the airport, hopefully around 5 p.m.
I need to get my house and hostessing together today in a big way. I suspect some stashing and dashing are in my future, but dcleaning lady will also be here for the routine cleaning and I intend to get dkids working as well.
I'm embarrassed by the condition of my home. For two years after the move, I had the excuse that I was overly involved at temple and had other obligations and let things go but I should be making progress on getting it together by now. So I'm beating myself up about this too. An awful lot of things are still where I put them when we moved, thinking it was just "for now" until I organized.
-breakfast
-meds/vitamin
-reboot laundry (left load in washer last night)
-put everything away - kitchen counters and breakfast bar
-put away 10 things on kitchen table

Re: Working Wednesday
I'll still be working at getting settled. Really accomplished a lot yesterday. At least the living area is looking pretty decent. Still have a bit in my trunk and have to unpack my 1 suitcase. Biggest problem I've seen so far is the doggone mouse tracks.
Wish I knew how to keep them out over the winter. Everything we've tried just doesn't seem to work. Many here had bigger problems than usual -sure because of the very harsh winter. Know dd who never has any, sure did this winter.
I'm up, s2s, meds done and bed made. But my body is telling me 'breakfast time'. Be back later.

Re: Working Wednesday
Argh! Maia just bumped me (I'm sitting in a chair, yes, and she just can't leave me alone) and I lost a post.
Twins, is your Aunt P staying overnight? I've seen photos of your home in the past, and it is lovely, even if things aren't in the "right" place. Maybe they're more right than you think. I bet Aunt P will enjoy seeing you and your family.
Nice to hear from you, Dee!
I have checked emails, replied to one (band uniform business), let dogs out, brought dogs back in after they were barking. I'm drinking tea.
Yesterday, I think I installed Todoist on my phone as well as signed up for WW etools. Dh downloaded some WW apps on my phone since I was having trouble with that. However, these apps seem to take more effort to figure out than just to write things down the old fashioned way as I was doing before. My life is in a lull, so I'm going to commit some time to trying to work with these apps. If they're not helpful after a week or two, I'll just uninstall them.
Next:
- breakfast
- QT
- s2s and self-care
- update laundry
Later:
- quick groc. store run. I don't have quite enough pork chops for the dinner crew tonight. 4 guests + baby J will be here, and I only counted 3 guests when I last went shopping.
- go for a jog. I went yesterday, but I'm feeling serious about shedding some pounds and shaping up, so I'll try to go again today. I don't jog hard enough to stress my body out. Dh never runs 2 days in a row.
- start breadmaker and slice red peppers for dinner prep before I go
- payroll; final exams day 1. Not much prep for me to do, though we might have some classroom time.
- dinner: pork chops in cream and wine sauce, rice, sautéed red peppers, cantaloupe, perhaps another veggie, bread
- kitchen clean

Re: Working Wednesday
Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening the thread, Twins'Mom.
I will be working with y'all for most of the day.
Preliminary 6x6:
* Finish month-end financial reports for sewing group and send out
* Sort & put paperwork for sewing group into 3-ring binders (so much paper!)
* Write thank you notes for sympathy cards
* Dishes (already half done) and 2 loads of laundry
* Take a deposit to the bank for library group, also put my paycheck in the ATM
* LEGO Club 1:30 to 3:30
Yesterday I worked at the library all morning and it was a zoo. It's really fun to see so many kids be so excited about coming to the library.
Then I met a good friend for lunch to catch up with her news. She is an energetic, positive person so it's always a boost to talk to her.
The used book store would not give me anything for the vintage books I took in (leftovers from the library sale). The books are in good shape, so I think the problem is that they are currently overstocked and don't have room on the shelves. Oh well, I was going to the store anyway with a $5 gift card, found a book in a series I like and also a magnifier bookmark.
Last stop in the heat was the grocery store. Luckily I'd been hearing reports about the problems of bird flu in Iowa, otherwise the price of eggs would have put me in sticker shock.
I forgot to grab my cooler bag on the way out of the house, so I had to put the frozen food on the floor of the car right under the a/c vent.
Suppose I'd better finish this glass of iced coffee and get to work. First up will sort out a load of laundry and get it started in the washer, then tackle Emails. BBL.

Re: Working Wednesday
Nothing like a visit from an aunt to make us look around at the house.
Also at our manners, whether our hair is frizzy, are the children well-behaved, is everyone in decent clothes, etc, etc. I really can't think of an aunt whose eminent visit wouldn't have made me get a bit wide-eyed. It's that whole matriarchal thing. We ladies keep the world properly situated. Good for us. Ds was still living here at home when my dmother's twin died, and I remember him asking, "Who's going to keep us all straight now?"

Re: Working Wednesday
Helia, this is Dh's Aunt P and she is staying from this afternoon until Sunday; our "guest room" is dd's room so I've been trying to muck it out at the same time dd is trying to get things ready for trip to Jordan. She is leaving next Tuesday and I just don't know if she will be ready. This wasn't great planning on our part.
I am rewashing the towels that were in the washer. Some of them came from the big clean out upstairs and were musty anyway, so sitting in the washer didn't help them.
Next round:
-get dd up because dcleaning lady will be here, I think
-straighten up MBR
-fold lol and put away
-finish kitchen table clean up
-desk - scan or get rid of 10 things
---take out recycling bin under my desk
Laughing at Harriet's take on aunts - yes it's all true. Aunt P's home has always been beautiful and immaculate, she is gracious and proper and she's not my aunt, which I think ups the ante.
Ah, just texted dcleaning lady and she is not coming until 12:30 ish.

Re: Working Wednesday
One of dh's aunts stayed with us the weekend of a big family dinner. She was wonderful, grabbing me by the shoulders at one point as I was rushing by her and asking me, "What is the next thing you have to do?" She is so not ADD but was able to be a help and keep me focused while not making me feel judged.
I'm up. Dh slipped out of bed again this morning so I could have a good deep sleep from 5:30 through to almost 7:30. My sleep quality was into the 70s for the first time in a while. Also had uninterrupted deep sleep from 11:30 - 1. I was awake at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, though and up at 1 and 3 (put voltaran on at that point.)
Hope I can translate that good sleep into a productive day.
On my list:
Make meatloaf for dinner.
Dusting (including deep dusting in the living room/dining room.
Writing
Clean bathrooms.
Dh is out this evening and possibly out this afternoon with ds.

Re: Working Wednesday
checking in from dds
We managed to get the ticket printed with the use of a memory stick to her printer. My laptop wasn't wanting to know her printer.
I'f I'm reading the seat sections diagram correctly, I'm in a 'platium' seat for way back in the stalls price, though way to the side near the front. I doubt I'll see a screen from there. and just see the DL in profile. I've packed my blessing and prayer shawls, and a notebook.
I'm on a fold out couch tonight, with a thin but compact foam mattress I bought when dgs15 was born. I'm used to my wave contour overlay so I hope my bones settle here. And I get some sleep. At least its softer than te futon style couch.
Have a great day.
