Plummer guy is like 2 hrs. Late now sigh I have found the coupon so that is a good thing, yarn meeting here in a bit todlerN is here now 2. Can you say distracted?

Last night I told dsecondmil to TELL the hospice folks that the air conditioning went out, but she didn't think she should call but wait on the nurse. Sigh. Today hospice nurse came at 1:30, found out about air conditioning and in 10 minutes - 10 minutes - a repairman pulled into the driveway. They do not fool around.

But I will admit that the way dsecondmil set up fans, the house was not too hot. She does have a big shade tree.

Dd and I carried dstepfil's sister home so that she could shower and piddle around her assisted living apartment for a little while before her grandson will carry her back later. On the way back, dd and I picked up sandwiches for those still at the house, going to the super-crowded, super-loud hometown barbecue joint that doesn't take cards, rather than anything simple, because "they've got the best hotdogs". All the household's recyclables were put into our trunk. Dd spent time with her dstepgf's great-granddaughter who was trying to draw on notebook paper, and let her draw with her stylus. The child was wildly bored, so dd was a huge help with that.

I was the one driving, then, without HRH, in unknown territory (HRH just can't understand why this bugs me) trying to make (keep up with) conversation with the sister, who chats a mile a minute. In all, met 4 new people.

HRH's aunt, whom we certainly DO know, also arrived and I'm a little worried about her because she acted as though dd's name was a surprise to her - named for this aunt's own mother and has been for 16 years, so... ... hmmm. She's the one who wants to stay tonight... .... I wonder if dsecondmil is taking better care of frail helpers than they can of her.

Nurse says dstepfil is so much better, she can't understand it. I sort of wish she hadn't been so negative before, getting all these elderly folk so mobile suddenly, whether they were ready or not, but she does just have to "call it like she sees it", I'm sure. And yesterday was evidently a really bad day.

Helia, you have every right to be proud of DD17. She sounds like she is really excelling. I'm proud of all my DGKids. Every one of them seems pretty smart, only one needs more supervision with work. My DGSon 16 is just amazing to me, so well rounded and into so many things. We're a blessed family. There, helia, I'll share the bragging stage so you don't feel alone doing it!

Whoa, Harriet, way to get an a/c fixed! I had a feeling Hospice could do it!

Standing back, watching Kathryn and Lilac polishing their furniture...wishing they'd come here...

Dee, you reminded me, years ago when I lived closer in town, the local gas station had WACKY WEDNESDAY where the gas was a bit cheaper and people lined up all the way up the road to fill up!

Went out and stopped at 2 banks, H D with return, and W M to pickup cards. While I was in there I thought, well, I'll get a few things, that will make grocery shopping tomorrow easier.... and I ended up just getting it all and don't need to do it tomorrow. Got a BDay gift for soon-to-be 16 yr old grandson who will be here, plus all the food for a few days of teenagers or almost teenagers with non-stop eating... my only problem now being that the refrigerator is full and it doesn't all fit!Tonight's dinner will downsize a few big containers and that will help.

DH came in early and I've been in office all afternoon with him doing proposals. That template is really wonky and takes a lot of tweaking...and I always feel burned out when I'm done...and we did two in a row. Pfffft! I don't understand the program, don't know how to fix it so I'm always reformatting, etc. Would be faster to just go back to the typewriter...but people here think I should get more modern....

Back to work!

helia, that's such a happy moment for your dd. Congratulations to her! Got to love that outlet for her creativity, too.

Yes, to paraphrase G. Keillor, we realize that in our village, all the women are strong (are they ever!), all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average. But we definitely don't tire of hearing about it!

I have the towels in the dryer, and the washer is waiting on dd to choose "most important tee-shirt color" so we can get a smart next load in the lineup.

She'd better get busy. She has 5 straight days in a dorm next week, following directly on the heels of her sister's family's visit, so there's a lot of packing to prepare. I don't know if the dorm concept has truly hit her yet. She may have a hard time sleeping in a new place, with a roommate. Oh, well. Might as well plunge in. On Wednesday, when I must pick her up in center of big city and take her to internship employers meeting, I'm going to have the shirt for the meeting in the car, and she's going to change as I drive.

Living room is mostly back to sorts. I realize the coffee table is still covered but only with what covered it before I started the madness. Oh, and it never did get dusted. And won't now. I'm done.

Waiting on dsil and dd now.

Forgot to tell you that ds sent us more info on the land he is thinking of buying. The agent failed to make the attachment the first time so ds' thank you and gentle note asking for the attachment was part of what he forwarded to us. We were both very impressed with his note to the agent, it was almost perfect (one slight grammar error but socially perfect.) So glad my dyslexic son is able to make his way in the world now.

Re thinking the washer drain thing to do it with a sink h pump $900 I don't think so. We do have hot water for clothes washing. H will have to fix i the guy put the pipe on the bill. It was not up to code so the guy could not do what I hope he would.

Yarn meeting went well.
ToddlerN is good today. H she loves the crocheted doll I made.
Roast is done & smells wonderful.

Nice dinner with dd and dsil. The Italian restaurant was hit or miss. Dd and I had HUGE appetizer salads and mine was full of great veggies. Dd's, a Caesar, had too much citrus in the last few bites. My lasagna was huge so I just cut it in half and had part of it. Will have the remainder another day, or perhaps not at all since it was so cheesy, my system started to act up. Dsil pizza was excellent. Dh found his not salty enough (dd shared and found it almost too salty.) Both found the small pizza very filling and dd could only eat one of the two pieces. Dsil ate her second piece and declared it not salty enough.

They are on their way home now.

I might have some tea and chocolate since the walk tonight increased my calorie allotment and got me over the 7K for the day. All that dusting hardly counted on my fitbit.

Quick ci -- just wanted y'all to know I wasn't hungover from my "cold beverage" last night! LOL -- it was a diet Pepsi!
But I didn't do ANY work today.
Had a almost 4 hr visit ON THE PHONE with a dear lifelong friend. We seldom talk bc we have this problem getting off the phone! She lives in another state and we mostly keep untouched via FB. DH was pretty amazed that we could talk that long, LOL.

Now -- out to see Jurassic World w/dh.

d harriet... You are such a good person... I agree that sometimes they send the elderly/or if someone is sick home too early many times when there is some improvement over a day. D mil was really in bad shape but wanted to go home and they agreed as she had the say - She was not at all ready.
