Whole day here was challenging. I've been busy the whole day. The heat and humidity is making me headach-ey and I've hardly ever had that from the heat before this year. The humidity just feels oppressive. I hope everybody else with the same are feeling ok by now.
Several trips out, back and forth, back and forth. Last LOL hung up. My desk is piled up, though I tried to work on some of it. Cleaned out the front seat of one truck which looked like a garbage dump. Hope to get caught up tomorrow, don't know about that, since DH is going out again to clear out a place they've finished. Always hoping things will get easier around here. One of the building owners where DH has been working for 2 months came out to view it all and is happy...so that's one big thing.
I got part of the kitchen mopped - the dirty part. Well, at least that's someting.

Re: First things first Friday
Truth - we missed dd terribly while she was gone and I know she missed us. But this child came home ill at the world. We can't seem to have more than a few moments without getting on each other's nerves or fussing.
I know that one thing she needs is a good night's sleep. She says her best chance was last night, but that well after she was asleep another girl was banging on her door frantically because she couldn't find her roommate, and saying - actual words - maybe there was a murderer,
wanting dd to search with her. Of course, they did find the other girl and no murderer, but by then sleep wouldn't come. Then neighbor girls stayed up until 4 and their noises kept waking her. Today she was hugging these girls to say goodbye, but I think she really believes she's well rid of that high-school-age dorm situation.
The exhibit hall was impressive. The professor had had each one hold up their names under their chins for a photo, and placed those faces with names high on cork board walls. Then all their drawings and models were pinned or displayed beneath them. I found one boy's art that I believed was truly better than dd's and pointed it out. She also took me to another boy's, though, and showed me some fine points I was missing, and said that his was the art she admired.
So I agreed there were two with better grasp of architectural drawing than she, but really hers looked like they came from textbooks to me. She designed a concept for an outdoor ticket station for a light rail line. The electrical was so detailed. She had made her own silhouette people to show scale, and offered plenty of extras for others' use, so we found her little people sprinkled throughout the models.
From the artsy to the evil - I hate snakes. I had what I would really consider a battle with an old rascally black snake at dusk today. He was determined to get into the chicken house and I was determined he would not get past me to my hens! I was disgusted that he found me and my iron garden rake so non-threatening. So much for vibrations bothering snakes
, because slamming the rake down in front of him over and over made no difference, he still came right for me. I raked him back twice but he just kept in his original direction. HRH got to me and took over, and he swept/threw the snake out of the house and away, and we locked the hens up quick. Then HRH sprinkled "snake away" powder all around the house. Sorry, chickens, if you don't like the mothball smell either.
