Lucylee, I hate trying on clothes in a dressing room...especially swim suits...those fluorescent lights and all those mirrors...yuck! But your suit choices sound great! I have a terry cloth beach "dress". I put it on until I'm going into the water and after I come out and dry a bit I put it on again. It's just a sleeveless thing with a little yoke at the top gathered a little with a pocket...with my flip flops I can dash into the store on the way home and still look dressed.

LadyM how's the work coming?

HaHa, I didn't do much today. I did get the cake done and the dishes and made dinner and have DH's ready to pop into the micro if he ever gets home. He is still out working... and tonight we have to get that paperwork finished.

We are trying to get some paperwork submitted because in 3 days or so the building codes get upgraded again and plans won't be right. Pretty soon if they keep this up we'll all be living in concrete bunkers and nobody will be able to afford to build or repair anything!

Oh, now I'm remembering - about 25 years ago I took a batch of love letters to the beach and burned them all in one of those built-in grills in the picnic area! I had nowhere else to burn them. Now I shred everything, shredders are fairly inexpensive these days.

So... ... lucylee... ... can't help but notice first paragraph of the poetry post. Just how well did you know Rod M, anyway? :)

We had a  afternoon. There was a power outage at dd's work after she had stepped onto one of the elevators, alone, to go home. A fuse just for that elevator blew (at least that's the theory) and everything else in the building started working again quickly, unbeknownst to her. She did know she got minimal light back quickly and was glad of that. Since everyone was getting around the building fine, no one noticed that one elevator wasn't working!

She was stuck in it for 20 minutes and although she could hear muted voices, no one could hear her calling out. She first tried the emergency buttons, but that simply told her there was a power outage. So, since she had her cell phone, she tried calling her immediate boss who was the only one still in the offices whose number she knew. But that boss had gone into a meeting and turned the phone off. So next up was me, out in the parking lot!

I went inside (complete stranger to the building) and with her instructions found the first floor door of the elevator she was on and started asking everyone around for help because someone was stuck in it. You'd be surprised the blank looks you get from people just passing through. The four different people in the lobby said they had never been in the building before today. I was knocking on doors, walking right in to offices and hollering in empty rooms. I was at the point of calling 911 on general principle when a lady in the hall told me she knew how to call building security. Then the security man knew how to call maintenance, but the maintenance man was iffy enough about it that the security man called 911 anyway and the fire dept came, too.

So she was sprung (mostly due to the maintenance man's work, although firemen were attentive and stayed to check everything). By this time two coworkers were aware and hurried to us. One begged her not to leave them over an elevator snafu, lol. The other, her immediate boss, apologized for not answering the phone and said dd was doing so well, and they were embarrassed to have let anything happen to their intern! Of course dd insisted that she was fine and didn't blame anyone at all.

She held it together until the car, then let loose with the tears! :) Ds says the firemen who came are at the second busiest station in our county and flying around on calls all the time. He knows a few there, but we didn't get any names. Anyway, he will let them know our appreciation.

Wow (((Harriet's dd))) -- what a day!

And LOL... Guess I didn't word that too well... Poetry was only a poor copy of Rod M's STYLE. I had a terrible episode of unrequited love prior to meeting dh, but Rod M was not the subject of my affection. And dh-era poetry was something of an emotional roller coaster.
I feel better that all that stuff is gone.
DS might possibly enjoy parts of my journals, but he would NOT enjoy my depressing poetry.
Tomorrow is another day.

LOL, Lucylee, mine was e e cummings. No capital letters!

Impressed that Harriet's dd held it together until the car. Well done. I'm not sure I would have now, much less at her age.

Lucylee: if you batch all your stuff to be shredded (include household records like age-old bills, etc.) it costs about $10 a file archive box full to have it shredded. Sounds like it will save you lots of time. Otherwise, buy a shredder on sale. But the $30 on sale ones have to be used carefully since they'll burn out quickly if you shred too long at a time. That's why tossing everything (hardcovers and all of those poetry books) into a big industrial shredder is a good deal.

Back home after a long day. Picked up my senior friend at 2:30 and dropped her home at 7:45. She was exhausted. She can barely walk these days and should have brought her walker. The walk from the elevator to our apartment is long so I pulled out the wheel chair for the trip back to the car. We dropped her right at the door for every stop (4 - strawberry social, one store, restaurant, her apartment) but even so the walking was almost too much.

At least she's seen our home now. I'd feel bad if she had died without ever seeing it. (Not that she' near death or anything, she's just weak.)

She's starting to think about nursing/retirement homes. Her monthly income can only afford $50 per day so she'll have to find something subsidized. She asked me to drive her around to a few of the ones in the area.

Reconciled checkbook/statement. Well, if you don't care what you say. Last month the bank said I had 40 cents more than I said I had. I could NOT find it anywhere... just gave myself 40 cents and went on. This month, the bank thinks I have 40 cents less than I thought. So I just subtracted it and went on. * sigh * The bank giveth and the bank taketh away, I guess. If it were more than a dollar, I'd try harder to find it.

There is nothing hardcover to deal with, Kathryn -- today was just loose-leaf paper in folders. Journals are all in spiral notebooks, so I'll just tear out pages if I need to.
Sad about your dfriend.

Twins -- yes -- e e cummings... anyone lived in a pretty how town...

And re: Twins' statement:
IKWYM about energy sagging after one has been out...
-- You'd think trying on swimsuits would make me want to go on a 30 day fast or something, but in fact, the depression and exhaustion just made me hungry.

Harmony, thanks for the reassurance re: my swimwear. I just feel sorta bad about it b/c I seriously have doubts as to whether I'll ever wear any of it! Although the sports bra & outer top would probably be nice just for for walking in this heat. It's that material that is supposed to wick away perspiration, and the outer top is kinda floaty and airy feeling. It would be nice to wear to ballgames next week, too, but it sorta has a t-back, and shows some back fat.
If I see that I am going to have a real need for swimwear, however, I may get one of those cover-ups like you mentioned.
Another    was that I bought a size larger than I wanted to in all this. I generally wear a 14 in pants, (and the 14s I got at Old Navy a week or so ago are really too big and require a belt) but I went with a 16-18 in all of this. I could have worn the 12-14 swimsuit top, but it was just too low cut and the halter top tie did NOT seem to offer much support. I thought, there is no way I would be actually swimming in this, and I almost didn't buy the shorts since I couldn't find a top to swim in. I probably would not try to swim in the top I ended up with, b/c it's too "floaty." It would probably fly up around my face and I'd drown. But it will be fine for wading w/dgs or going to the splash pad, I guess.
I also feel bad about it all b/c when we got the bank statement, dh was noting how much our balanced dropped from last month. Summer is an expensive time for us, though, b/c of so much travel, and dbil owes us over $1000 for football tickets. He'll pay; it's not a problem at all, just that it came out of our credit card and we just this weekend told him what his balance was, so we're out the full amount right now.

Oh -- happy birthday to Mr. Harmony!

Waving to LadyM... Nancy... Sadie... and EVERYONE ELSE!
Tomorrow is another day.

This is what I am wondering about. Why would you go to a store that has cellulite and fat in their dressing rooms?

Same here KittyRun...

I was in Walmart today and thought about you Lucylee. Our store has all sorts of styles and sizes.

I never worry about sizes because nothing ever seems the same. I just brig in two sizes and hope that one fits. I need new undies and you would think that is an easy task, but I like a certain style made from a certain material. Geesh it was worse than shopping for a bathing suit.

Twins... are you passing me as I slide down that rabbit hole??? About to jump in again. My day was thrown off because of my ankle/foot cramps last night... no way to describe the pain, but my PA suggested potassium which I already had on my list. Nice to know she agreed. Took some late in the afternoon so lets see what happens tonigh.

My calendar is clear for tomorrow... that tells you what an exciting life I live...However knowing that I will be seeing my mom in a few weeks means I want more done on my family tree. She loves reviewing what I have found. As a side note... you know that theory of six degrees of separation...if you look close enough you will find you are related to the person in you life by six generations....turns out my mother married her cousin...her great grandfather about 9 generations back is the same as my fathers

I started working on my dxh side of the family for my son and joked that I hope I didn't find the same thing... Close call. turns out my dxh great uncle...about 6 generations back belonged to the Quaker Church 5 miles from the home I grew up in...so my mom and I will be looking for those headstones when I get home. Amazing

cy'all tomorrow...I will be hiking up my "hill" at 5 in the morning if my night cramps dont keep me up all night...

((Sadie)) I have a friend who bruised her ribs (or cracked one?) from coughing. Take care of yourself.
lucylee, you made me giggle! I forgot to say earlier how sorry I was to hear of the deaths in your community. The teen death seems particularly tragic.
I'm with harmony. I haven't accomplished much yet. However, I'm not with Harmony in regard to the reason. My energy level is fine. I'm just being lazy - and sidetracked by a game on my phone. I AM with Harriet in feeling the pull toward certain games and puzzles on paper and online, of which tetris is a culprit from time to time.

I'm heading out the door for a jog.

More things I have done since I last posted:
- finished the a.m. routine - except for making my bed
- had lunch with dfriend; ate well and am tracking points
- stopped by groc. store for more milk, which I forgot to buy on Monday
- library - return a book on CD
- laundry: lol #1 is in the dryer, #2 is in the washing machine

Well, apparently this post sat here for 5 or so hours. . . .We went to our city's summer festival after dinner. Fun band, a little ice cream (I had about a Tbsp), and we left just when the movie was starting. They always have a great movie line up. We might try to go see one next week.

And I just noticed. . .Oh, my goodness ((Harriet's dd16)). How scary!! I'm glad she is OK.

Now, I'm going to bed.
