Steady Saturday

Post by Harriet »

Hope we all can hold it in the road today!

Homemakers keep things stabilized and normalized - what would these households do without us!?! :D

Quiet around here today...hello Harriet!

I've seen what happens when my household tries to survive without me! It ain't pretty! Dishes piled up, no cooking done, laundry in baskets...not to mention no bills paid etc. I have job security!

Working on end of month stuff. Had to redo stuff I'd started because something changed yesterday when I hadn't expected it. Guess I got ahead of myself. It's the end of the 2nd qtr so there is more to do.

What would I like to do today? Finish a book I'm reading (am reading a book with DGS as part of his summer assignment) and send him my notes. Grandma just finding another way to connect!

Morning y'all morning Harriet..,

I am up and have started my morning.

I have been invited to a wedding Monday night. The girl that is getting married is a member of the LDS ... Morman church. Her boy friend was accepted into medical schoo outside the U.S. And wanted her to come with him. She said yes but only if they were married. That way in there future plans so they just pushed up the date.

I have several dresses I can wear but need to ask my other LDS friend if they are appropriate. Either way I would like to have a pair of dressy earrings. And I need to purchase a gift card as a wedding present.

I already had a luncheon date with several of my friends so in order to beat the heat I need to get my hinny out the door and shop before I meet up with them.

My house is in order and laundry is done. I need to take care of my pups and garden. The heat is now in the 108-09 range. It storm season now and we are expecting a dust storm later this afternoon. Those types of storms cause blackouts and make it difficult to drive but I plan to be home by then.

I need to start my day. Hope y'all have a good one... Cya'll later :)

Hope the dust storms bypass your area, RR!

Dee should be getting wild weather this weekend. I hope the campground is fine. We got a weather advisory of those storms but just that they are happening and could affect travel, not that they'll affect us. Today is sunny with increasing cloud cover. Rain starts tonight and tomorrow will be cold (maybe 60 as a high), wet, and miserable. As a result I hope to get out on the bikes today

I'm at the 'colourist' right now, enjoying tea and chocolate before the rinse. Did a slipshod job this morning, mainly because I'm intending to do it again in a different colour in a week or so. Just needed to get the grey to wheat blonde and so it can become red/gold highlights after the second application. I've decided I miss the hint of red in my hair from my younger days but am going with golden brown, not auburn/burgandy/mahogany (the last one being the colour I used when I was younger.)

Weight stayed steady this morning despite the pizza last night (I wasn't going to hop on the scale but couldn't resist.)

I've already had my cereal and fruit. Did those before the hair colouring began so I could get at it before dh was done on the exercise bike (I have to use his bathroom for the colouring because I have no counters.) His bathroom and mine are back in order now.

Slept well, no more panic (maybe positive spin worked) and just talked to dmom -- nah... she MIGHT go to the festival on her own, IF she can get in touch with Friends A&B or C&D... maybe they'll drive their Corvettes down there... IF she gets her yard mowed... yada yada yada...
It is no use to worry about ANY plans concerning dmom, b/c plans rarely ever come to pass where she is involved.

And dh seems to be feeling some better, so that is good news, too!

We shall try diligently to hold it in the road, Harriet!

Harmony, I think that is just wonderful, that you are reading a book w/dgs! I hope I can do stuff like that when dgs here gets older!

Oh drat... forgot to weigh myself this morning before breakfast... I usually weigh every single morning before I get dressed. Forgot today b/c I made the Saturday Hardee's trip instead of dh.

House here is okay... I never did get the weekly vacuuming done, and I did not mop floors... about the 1,000,000th time THAT particular job has been skipped... but laundry is under control and everything looks neat and orderly.
So... looking forward to the day's outing w/ds -- ddil -- dgs... and so thankful everything seems to have worked out.

Hope you all have a great day! :D
Tomorrow is another day.

It is raining, Kathryn, but not real stormy, yet. Know dgs15's races were cancelled early this morning and they have flood watches up. We're probably between just the rain and the flooding. Know there's supposed to be a lot this weekend.

I finally revved myself up to a steady movement so I could go get some groceries. It was my first outing like that and I'm "pooped". I absolutely had to go. My movements are still very slow and stilted and my tummy is on the fritz besides!

Wanted to come on and at least wish DHelia a Happy Birthday. Cheated -didn't look at our site but saw it was her birthday on FB. :D So have a wonderful day, Helia!

Have to go lay it down. I had a half sandwich for lunch and that's really all I wanted. Talked dh into the other half when he came in. He's already been in twice to change soggy clothing.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Hair is done, looks ok.

Made myself a nice lunch and have now washed up all the dishes and tidied the kitchen.

Next up - nap or bike ride. I'll see what dh is up for. Oh, looking over at sale flyers, I remember I have to go to the store. Maybe I'll do that since I hear a baseball game coming from the other room.

I was going to remember helia's birthday first thing this a.m.
I declare. I put things in my brain and they just spill right out of there.
Happy Birthday!

Harmony, that's how I read several Sherlock Holmes, the first 4 Harry Potter, Dr Jekyll, and most of the Series of Unfortunate Events. Just reading along with what was going on in the house at the time. Yes, I think it helps to talk about a book and hear what someone else got out of it. Of course, you are a fiction reader yourself, and I have to be nudged into it.

I've just had the worst telemarketer call in my life and then a long conversation with AT T customer service. Hackers have started calling in such a way that the caller I.D. reads as your own name and number. That way it has a false familiarity, but it also means they can't be identified. I knew it was not HRH/me calling but wanted to find out the name of the company who was. The fellow tried every trick he could think of to avoid saying his company's name, arguing back and forth with me, and was obviously scamming. Finally he told me it was "IPhone", so I imagine he has no company. I called AT T fast, but there's little hope they can figure out who it was. Anyway, I renewed the Do Not Call listing today.

Yesterday Dee had such a good title and my day was opposite to it. Sigh. Never so frazzled. Long story short, my efforts at peacemaking between some extended family members has not gone well. I started out with high hopes for a laundry push with dd, so she could set up outfits for the week and my laundry would benefit, too. Also I had some housework plans. All pretty much a wash. (ha - a laundry pun, unintended)

I have gotten some extra laundry done today, though. I want to visit my colorist soon, as well.
