Slowing Down Sunday

After a busy day yesterday, we all deserve to slow down a little bit, breathe, listen to the silence (if there is any to be found!)

I woke up an hour later than usual, probably because I had closed the window and pulled the blinds. Lately I've been waking between 5 and 6 but today I made it to 6:30. I didn't get out of bed until after 7:30.

We're biking to church this morning so I have to leave the apartment in 40 minutes and I'm still only at the tea and chocolate part of my daily routine. My berries are defrosted, though, and clothes are laid out. It is just a sponge bath morning so that will buy some time. Still, I'll be rushed.

We'll go out for lunch today at a diner on way back home. Must remember to pack my scale. I weighed my food last night and that worked well for keeping the mindless calories to a minimum. I had planned on 4 oz of meat and that's what I had.

Today I am watering. It is not too smokey yea! Chickens are fine they have been fed and released. I have a low sugar cherry crisp to assemble in the crock pot. Need to wash sheets may wait till Monday on that. We were all irritable bc lf hkurs of booms fro. Fireworks next door sigh hopi g that ks done and tney go home goday gra ds ck e every yr. For this.

Fire is out that was going last a mile or so up the hill could see the trucks from tne Street here it is SO dry out. I am trying not to whine in my journal this morning. I need a new attitude. 99* todays hi.

Another HOT day in store for us.

Have listened to Bible reading, it was from Psalms, very comforting to hear.

On my iPad at the kitchen table. Dear brother and I have eaten and he is walking around and around the island.

DH and I prayed together yesterday. Unfortunately that's something we do only rarely together so I was so touched by it. Who knows maybe this situation will improve his relationship with God.

Terribly busy at work yesterday. Amazing how much WM plays a part of holiday get together. None of the associates really wanted to be there but we just joked around, laughed and had a good time anyway. Missed dear co-worker Sharon as she hurt her knee somehow and ended up in ER.

Need to finish my coffee and hit the shower.

Home from church. Second time at my childhood church. Still not the main minister, retired husband and wife, who I know, were up front again today. Excellent message. Wonderful coffee hour. The church ticks all our boxes (except walking distance which is a pretty hard box to tick.) Plus it has that 'home' feeling that we didn't get from the other church. I nearly cried again today since I really do feel home there still, even though the church, both physically and mission focus, has changed since we left. So have we and it appears we changed in the same direction!

Had lunch at the diner again, good food, reasonable price, great service considering it was packed. Dh and I split up at that point - I biked to stores for purse shopping and he picked up worms for fishing.

I am not slowing down much here today. I cleaned the coop loft, nest boxes, and roo house and am glad that is done I had to lug tbe package of shavings out to the coop glad I had a wagon to help transport it across the yard. Hens love their housekeeping day.

Home from church. It was a good service with a message that felt like it was meant for me. Our pastor announced they found out this week that they are expecting child #6! He has 5 adopted children. This baby will be his first biological child. They are both numb and excited about this blessing.

DD was going to attend church with us, but changed her mind. DD was going to bring the guy she is living with to meet us, but she changed her mind. DD was going to pick DGD4 up this morning, but she changed her mind. DD was going to work today and then pick up DGD4 this evening, but she changed her mind. DD was going to come to our house to swim and watch how much progress DGD4 has made in the pool, but she changed her mind. DD finally settled on meeting us for lunch at local BBQ place. DGD4 went home with DD. Staying in-the-moment is a skill needed to keep up with DD. DH and LO both want a plan and then stay with the plan. They get frustrated with DD continual and constant changes.

My plan for the afternoon is nada. I am going to do my best to keep toes up until 5:00pm. In the next 3.5 hours I have a book I want to read, a movie to watch, and maybe even a nap!

I've worked out my food for the rest of the day and will go have my special snack now. It is Sunday, Dr. Pepper Day!

And I have heard from Sadie and she sent me permission to post something very attractive in members.

Harmony, this was a Lowe 's Home improvement store, so maybe there is better training, or maybe I just happened to get a knowledgeable person.

Lilac, I just saw your evening post of the other day and am sorry to hear about your dsonil's father and also about your friend's mother's diagnosis. Hope your weekend travels are safe.

We have been without electricity for 5 hours. When we got home from early rehearsal my dear uncle90 was in our driveway, so glad we got back before he drove away. He asked if we had heard the "boom" and knew there was no electricity. We certainly did not, but because we have cell phones we could report it, whereas he could not. We went on to church and back again and he was back over here, still quite worried so we let him use our cell for calling some friends, and then I also called electric company again. I had a "moment" with the irritable lady on the phone - never mind. And on a Sunday, too, dear me. But finally expressed to her that uncle is 90 plus and therefore his household is on their list of priority households.

We probably got electricity back about an hour after that. I'm so glad. He was very concerned about going overnight with no air conditioning, and his foods in the fridge, etc.

At first we thought perhaps his transformer had blown, but that doesn't make sense because too many houses were without power, and they were not all on the same line. So I don't know what on earth happened that a 90-year-old man with questionable hearing, indoors, would call "like a gunshot", but it was profound.

The porch furniture had been drying after being stained, and I realized it was starting to rain, got the child's chair up onto the porch alone, then called for HRH's help. Because he has different priorities than I and wanted to get his glider in first, my antique chair waited and really was rained on. Poodley. (a technical term, meaning... ... MEN).
