Be sure to get your PODA or 5x5 planned out before you watch this

so you'll have something to do with all that energy.
Sorry, they kept getting a shot of me walking through the set with my purse. I had no idea.

Re: It's Monday. Let's Move It
Thanks for the great start Harriet! The moment I started watching the video I thought "A child filmed this!" When a child gets hold of my camera they frequently take pictures of peoples bottoms.
The first 2 hours of my day have progressed almost perfectly. All 5am and 6am cards are completed well.
I took a few minutes to review the calendar for July. Almost every day of July has out-of-the-home appointments (2 days have no appointments....so far) I have some local activities I want to do with LO and DGD4, but finding a time slot to put the activities in isn't as easy as I had hoped.
This afternoon I will take LO to his counselor appointment. After counselor appointment we have 30 minutes to make a 35 minute drive to his Karate lesson. We will eat dinner en route. This every other Monday dinner is always a challenge. Grabbing fast food is an option but not a healthy one! Hum.....I know there is a solution to this challenge.....I just need to solve it.
Next up - 7am cards

That was a toe-tapping song to get us started, Harriet! You were really dancing with that purse. Did y'all notice the giraffe with the hula hoop on his neck?!
So far I've just caught up on the declutter schedule and did a big put-away in the kitchen. Then I tidied all the papers in the office, it looks better than usual back here. Paperwork was done Sat. so nothing to do until mail comes. I've brought in the recycle bin.
Nancy, sure hope that fire doesn't come any closer to you.

Re: It's Monday. Let's Move It
Love your moves, Harriet!
I'm up. Not exactly moving it.
Woke up at 3:30 to dh 'sneaking' out of bed and thought it was morning so I said "I'm awake" and scared him. Apparently it was 3:30. So I got up, very slowly, for a pee break. Dh did his while I was trying to get out of bed and went past me to prowl the apartment (it helps stretch out leg soreness). I had just got to bed when there was a great crash so I called out "Are you ok?" and got out of bed again to find him.
He was no where near it (thankfully) when a large wall clock fell from the wall, hit a Christ Cactus, flipped the top off the plant stand (mahogany antique made by my grandfather) and all came crashing to the floor with the table-top of the plant stand inside the clock. I had come running without my glasses so at first thought the cactus had fallen off the stand again (that's happened before, but in looking for the glass watering bulb that is in the plant pot, I spotted something else on the floor and realized it was the pendulum from the clock and when I turned on the light could see the dark spot on the floor wasn't the plant and all its dirt, but the clock.
We righted the plant (which only lost about 1 cup of its dirt, unlike last time), located the glass bulb (unbroken - again, despite being blown glass) and moved it off the floor, put the table-top back on the plant stand and left everything else for morning.
But we didn't get to sleep right away. It took me over an hour after to doze off and I didn't sleep deeply until after 6:30.
Since getting up I've just swept up the dirt, put the plant back and lifted the clock off the floor. I need to vacuum and then treat the floor for some scratches. I had bought something called Rejuvenate which a neighbour said works well on masking scratches and since these are in the middle of walking spot in the living room, I'll try and clear them up.
I stayed in bed way too long and am just having tea and chocolate now.

Re: It's Monday. Let's Move It
Lady M: how many of those appointment are for LO and dgd?
How many of them would go away if LO broke his leg (for example.)
How heartbroken would LO and dgd be if they didn't have to spend hours each day driving to things?
Just because parents today over-schedule their children doesn't mean that you have to follow that trend and not stick to parenting the way it was done when we were kids and let them learn to amuse themselves and play creatively on their own.
For my kids, they got 2 activities a week (i.e. 2 times we left the house because of them) so if soccer had a practice night and a game night, then they only did soccer. If they wanted riding lessons and soccer and piano, they had to wait because that's three things. If anything, it taught them to prioritize.
I simply refused to be a parent who drove everywhere with my kids just because I was 'home' in the day and therefore in theory had the time to do so.

Harriet: Is there an urban transit station you can drive dd to and have her take transit to her work and/or that meeting. Is there someone she can car pool with who live out towards you? That will, at least, cut down on your driving.

Re: It's Monday. Let's Move It
What a wonderful way to start off my online morning, Harriet! I'm very impressed with your dance moves!
Yes, I agree with LadyM, there certainly were a lot of shots of swaying bottoms. But they were all very charming.
I have just survived 5 dinner events in a row, 4 of which we hosted.
I'm telling the girls NO dinner guests for at least 3 nights. Thursday night, our overnight guests, a family of 4, arrive. With the regular Thursday crew attending, we'll have 11 for dinner, plus the baby. (S can't make it.) My introversion is spazzing out. No one talk to me. Please. Said tongue in cheek, Kind of. . . .
Actually, I have been moving since I got up at 7 a.m. I have:
- gone for a jog; it was OK. Not my best but not my worst. 2.4 miles. It feels good to have that done.
- s2s-ed and done self care
- taken Pepper to the vet for a check up; dh accidentally stepped on her foot Friday, and she is still limping.
- had 1 mug of tea + banana
- chatted with dh re: purchasing an IKEA fold up bed to put in the playroom to sleep dfriends arriving Thursday - and also just on general principle. My original plan was to put a queen bed in ds' room to help us sleep guests more comfortably. However, dd19 has just moved her twin bed out of her room and into ds' room, so now there are 2 twins in that room. Dd19 sleeps on the double? sized futon in her room. . . . .She's making more room for art projects? Her bedroom is extremely large, similar in size to our living room. It's a bit like musical chairs in this house right now. Anyhow, we're thinking of making a trip to IKEA tonight.
Next here:
- 2nd mug of tea
- QT
- update laundry
Five by 5:
x 1. Jog
x 2. Pepper to vet appointment
3. menu plan and groc. list
4. groc. store
5. laundry progress
I hope to do more from my weekly list: yard work/buy beebalm plants/get oil in kc changed.
Dinner will be chili over rice, corn bread, steamed summer squash.
I'm off to pull the chili from the freezer and make a 2nd mug of tea.

Re: It's Monday. Let's Move It
I haven't enrolled DGD4 in anything. She has no appointments on my calendar - she just tags along with us wherever we go.Lady M: how many of those appointment are for LO and dgd?
How many of them would go away if LO broke his leg (for example.)

LO is taking lessons for 2 sports right now (Karate & swimming). I think the time invested in these 2 sports are well worth it. Martial Arts has been recommended by two doctors for LO to do. It is one of the most highly recommended/recognized activity for children with ADHD. The better LO is at swimming the more I relax. Karate lessons are year around. Swimming lessons is short term (13 lessons spread over a 2 month period).
I made a lot of mistakes raising our children 40 years ago. But I also learned a lot. I am a big believer in children playing team sports, especially in a small town environment. The peer pressure is positive. The community awareness and interest in the child is huge. If LO remains interested in playing team sports, I will certainly support his interest. There are only 2 team sports available at LO small school - baseball & basketball. Each of those sports are seasonal and (mostly) don't overlap.
My schedule is heavy in taking LO to his activities because DH isn't available to help. When MPB sells, that will free up DH and I expect he will take LO to most of the lessons.
DMom takes up a chunk of my schedule too. I take DMom to two medical appointments in the next 7 days. Plus the normal doings for her.
Throw in community activities, church activities, other grandchildren activities and without much effort my schedule starts filling up. I can't remember the last time we attended any sport or entertainment activities if we personally didn't know the people playing.
