Lady M: What I'm looking at here, in your schedule, is that you are retired and yet on the go all the time to the point of exhaustion and health issues and just waiting for dh to retire to make things better. Other parents don't have that option, so what is different and how can you balance things better.

I just realized that unlike working moms of children LO's age, you also have grandchildren events to go to. So that adds to demands on your time.

Working moms often cope by car-pooling with other parents. How often can you manage that with LO? It wasn't an option at one point due to keeping him safe, but have things relaxed enough that you could manage it now?

Your mom's appointments are basically non-negotiable unless you can recruit a grandchild to fill in for you once in a while.

Church stuff is negotiable, though. After all, in a crisis that would be one of the first things to go. You need to consider whether or not you are approaching crisis level. Aside from Sunday, pick one activity for you to stay involved in and set the rest aside.

I had a 'normal for most people' Sunday yesterday and it was glorious. Church (no responsibilities, I just worshiped), lunch at a diner, bike ride, nap in the afternoon and walk after dinner. It was a good Sabbath rest and reminded me that we have to actively build this into our weeks.

I'm finishing my lunch break, thus I can pop in here.

Stay safe with fires nearby, nancy.

More done:
- QT
- lunch
- online tasks: (1) increased giving for one person we support and (2) cancelled a reserved book at the library

Is that it? I need to start moving it.

Moving on. . . .I'm drinking water. It's already 89* so I'm glad I got my jog in early today. I'm loving the summer weather, though!

Next:
- update laundry
- make bed
- make li$ts for the week
- finalize the menu plan and groc. list

OK - I'm off to move it move it.

On the other hand, Sabbath isn't supposed to push its way into Monday morning as well. The morning is past now and all I have to show for it is I'm s2s and the bed is stripped and remade.

I have physio in less than 2 hours and will need to eat before then. Haven't decided what to have yet. Leaning towards eggs.

Helia:
I closed up the windows and put on the a/c today. It is the humidity that's getting to me these days.

Moving it through my day.

Water plants - check
mail letters - check
Desk Day - partial check
laundry will probably be towels - check
bank errand - heading out
planning Exercise for the rest of month - partial check

transportation thinking... ...
As far as this single meeting the only other person with the same hours who's going is another teen, and we haven't a clue that his parents would agree, even if we did.

In general, we've pondered the bus options to the workplace but they help less than you'd think, driving out of the way to get to the (admittedly very nice) stop. Since all roads lead to Rome - or in this case, big city bus station, the headlines that station generates give me pause. If she was a little older... ...

I've done 25 minutes of exercise this a.m. and folded and put away the laundry.

Busy around here. I stopped for breakfast then I went out and swept the street in front of where they took the garbage today. Glass, a nail and a couple sharp pieces were there. Right where the trucks go into the drive to the shop.

Been decluttering around here. I'm ahead of the schedule. But pondering something for a few years is long enough and I'm glad to have done what I did. Up the ladder (hard) and bringing down huge bin (hard) tells me that was the right decision and I feel good about what I put in the small donation bin. I even washed the big oversized bin and put it aside to donate also. When it is loaded, it is too heavy for us to manage. My knees didn't feel very good when I was struggling to get it down...and I sure don't want to ask DH to help in the shape he's in. I can tell my back is strained a bit also.

Thinking of all that, I wonder how Dee is doing?

Oy, I over did it moving this morning! Last night a neighbor asked if I would like to walk with her at a local park with lots of walking trails this morning, so I went. 9000 steps for the walk and 20-something "stairs" - walk was not that streuous but combined with humidity upset my tummy. I looked at the local weather and it said humidity this morning was 70% - probably higher in the woods at this park after all the rain we've had.

So I had to blow off going to dmom's to meet with home health care people and I got in bed until my tummy settled down. Just now restarting the day... It was a great walk - we have things in common and it was nice to walk with her dog too.

I don't have anything else for today - it was nice to be up at 7:15 and walk tho.

So I need to reboot the day.
-call dbrother to see what transpired this morning with home health care
-lunch - at this point I probably need something in my tummy
-make a phone call to the airline for dd re staying in Israel longer
-s2s
-start a lol

Have the washer and dryer both going, there is a load of laundry to fold.

Got the kitchen cleaned. Dson-C does a lot of cooking while I'm at work but isn't the best cleaner upper. But everything is clean and shiny now. won't complain cause he does a lot of my low carb meals which helps me a lot. Down one more pound today :!:

Discussed bills with DH again today. We used to split the bills, he was responsible for some and I was responsible for some. but since his work is non-existant he hasn't been able to pay his. So made up a new spread sheet listing all bills and when they are due. Then I pay what I can. So far no bill has been paid late but I usually paid some of mine early and have used that money to pay what was his. Praying work comes in to him. We've cut back on some things too like the Dish Package. I think I could go turkey on it but DH says he needs it for the times I am off to work. So we settled on a smaller package.

He's fixing our riding mower, the parts finally came in. Our lawn is a mess between all the previous rains and a broken mower it has become a jungle. So even though it doesn't pay anything, there is work to do and a sense of satisfaction to go with it.

The laundry twins are calling.

Hi everyone! I hope those of you in the US had a nice 3 day weekend. I know I did, I slept until 1130 on Saturday! (Helped by Benadryl needed for a rash). I went to two knit/crochet events and have started my nephew's Leonardo (leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Got stuff done on vacation prep, got the animal org minutes done last night rather than the night before the meeting, mailed off the crocheted cat, got the church website current, glued chairs, and posted crochet project photos. (For some eye candy, you can check out Arts Crafts and Needlework and there they are. They are also posted on Ravelry.) For the declutter challenge, I did the linen closet. It is better organized, with one item thrown out and three given to the Free Store. Amazing how much more I get done when I don't have cat clinic on Saturday and DD13 on Sunday. DD got back late from her cruise to Jamaica with the x's family. She returns with a love of filet mignon. She will not be indulging this new passion on her vacation with me. My bills this month are UGLY.

This morning I had to make some DPCs, and they are off the list. This evening will be errands, checkbook balance, trip tasks, and some cleanup for the pet sitter (probably kitchen).

I have made my list for the week, and most of it is vacation and packing related. There are a few other chores and errands, as well. Unfortunately for packing and cleaning purposes, Tuesday and Thursday I have DD and Wednesday is an animal org meeting. There are goings-on in the animal org that make both my attendance and my ability to keep good notes essential.

In answer to ramblinrose's question of Thursday: no, the book was not Natchez Burning. I cannot remember the title, but it was about a woman who was born a grim reaper, and at the end she gets engaged to a son of Satan, but he is not one of the bad guys.
