Saturday Passover — Easter Eve?

Maybe you are all busy with prep for the holidays?

We are just getting started. Dh and Dgd have left for Hardee’s and I need to s2s.
Dgs is coming over to hide Easter eggs in a bit, but that will have to be an indoor activity— it rained all night like it was being poured out of buckets!

Good morning, lucylee!

Thanks for that start. I read an interesting take on Passover, 2022, from the podcast hosts of "Unorthodox", which said this Passover is the one after, "We barely had a chance to recover from two devastating years of a global pandemic when along came the first full-scale war on European soil in decades." The piece said partly, "What does freedom entail? If you read the Haggada closely, you see that freedom is not simply, or even, joyous liberation. It's the freedom to suffer, struggle, endure and maybe — if God is on your side — arrive someplace better." I thought that was well said.

We also have rain, but a gentle one. Don't know how we got that lucky. Egg hunts could happen if you have galoshes!

It stops me from the planned planting, but other things can happen. Our green-eyed boy and dgdC arrive home from happy vacation today.

[Red face] I just got out of bed. I have been sleeping up a storm. Weird dreams of course from sleeping so late. We were home at 10:30ish last night but it was a long social evening.

And dh just came home from Torah study. He says he have company tomorrow night - friends - at 5:30. Dh and I had talked about having these friends over and he set it up at Torah study.

For the record, yes, Passover started last night and lasts seven days - some people do an extra day. We don't really observe much other than going to and participating in a Seder, or ritual meal. Which reminds me, dfriends for tomorrow night probably do observe, but otoh, we don't eat bread/cake, etc. anyway.

Oh my goodness Harriet. I have a big ole' catch in my throat right now. Tell me more about this podcast please. We recite the plagues as part of the Seder - we were begin silly adding on with COVID, then some legislators - in our own state and otherwise. Plenty of modern day plagues going around.

Have no clue if I even posted yesterday. I found myself coming down with a cold Wednesday night. Took m ucinex in the night and yesterday. Now dh says he's coming down with one. Sure I caught it from dd but quite certain he's been gone too long to have caught one from either of us. He said he got quite chilled yesterday out in the rain. Know he walked plenty of steps (over 20k) as it shows up on my computer. He said today was 'optional working' and he thought he'd stay in. Forecast is for more rain AND snow! Sure when DS-A booked their Disney trip this week he thought they would be through with snow/ice. But he has dependable people manning the ship so he's fortunate.

Yesterday would have been our DGD's 11th birthday. This is DS-A's DD. Our DD and I used to leave a small memento in her memory every time we went to "Small World" at Disney so know they went by there yesterday. Haven't been in a few years now -probably 3. First it got too expensive, I was in/out of the hospital and then of course dear old Covid struck. DS wanted dd to come to Disney and join them yesterday but she looked and there were no tickets available for then. Just as well as she's trying to get well before she leaves with her students for their trip to Jacksonville (for SKILLS competition) tomorrow afternoon. She picked up a very large Ford Expedition car from the school board on Thursday. Looks strange sitting in our driveway.

DD and I went to L Alfred this morning for breakfast. (Dsonil had gone to flea market/hobby shop in Tampa). We decided we didn't really enjoy our breakfast -either of us. It's always seemed good before. Stopped at $ Tree (where everything is no longer a $1, but $1.25 btw). I found placemats for dd's dining table however. Win/win.

Here it is in print in the Pittsburgh Gazette where I read it online. It is actually a piece they wrote for today, not an audio, but they do cohost the audio podcast. I am very much a visual print-observer and not given to podcast listening. If they hadn't made the effort to write this, and then various news outlets pick it up, I'd probably never have known about their commentaries, but one is a editor at Tablet, too.

LucyLee - Thanks for the start today.

I slept in this morning until I woke up naturally at 7:30am. I usually have 1 or 2 days a week that I don't have to be up & going at a particular time. I enjoy the change of pace.

I took time this morning to catch up on my book study and post my chapter summaries in the group messaging.

Last night we went to Good Friday service at church. We were in the nursery, so I watched the service online when I got home.

i have a plan for Easter meal. I will need to do some prep today so it can come together easily tomorrow.

I have more prep to do for tomorrow. I've hired a person to take pictures of DS13 and he has scheduled it for tomorrow. Since DS13 isn't in public school, he doesn't have the yearly professional pictures taken. I expected DS13 to be resistant to having his picture taken but I was pleasantly surprised at his eagerness for it. I have low expectations and would be happy with a picture like what the school photographer takes but DS13 and the photographer have teamed up to make plans for something more. I'm staying out of the planning process and just letting DS13 take the lead. I do know they have chosen the locations for the pictures and the photographer asked me if DS13 could drive his pickup there. My response "NO. Do you realize he is only 13 years old? He is old enough to earn money to buy the pickup, but he is not old enough to drive it 20 miles by himself."

This feels like Sunday because yesterday felt like Saturday. I have the new Fitbit up and charging. Will go on a clip, I don't do the wrist band.

I need to figure out supper for us. I think it's either leftover brisket brought home from last night or some ehhhh turkey burgers that dh brought home from Costco. I have fruit and salad already too. Of course, we also have leftovers from the restaurant on Thursday evening. Tomorrow night for friends we'll grill steaks and do a veggie and salad. Fruit for dessert then too?

Hosed out a couple wood boxes to go in the shed to finish drying out.

Was hoping to be feeling more chipper than I do today. Drat.

Hello. Beautiful day here. Warm and very humid.

I was otd early, supermarket to get bread and rolls to take tomorrow. Also a stop at 3 more places in my search for a vitamin everybody must have stopped making. Guess I'll have to get it online.

Finished my library book. That was pleasant.

Next:. Make the baked macaroni to take tomorrow. We can just heat it up there. I have eggs cooked ready for dying. Just for us. Just because it's Easter and it's fun to do. Can't find my Easter grass and there's none to buy in the stores here. Weird.

Hopefully I'll get. Back, but if not, have a nice Easter /Passover.

I s2s before dh & dgd got home with breakfast. We ate... and now dgd is eating again (popscicles and Cheerios). She is a bottomless pit!
I also played school with her for a little bit, and she helped me straighten up the kitchen and get the sheets in the washer.
Now dgs is on his way over for Easter egg hunting.

Dmom called and wanted to know if we could eat lunch together tomorrow.
Surprise, surprise, dh agreed. So dmom is going to come to church with us tomorrow (ds, ddil, and dh are singing) and then we'll eat lunch together.
I was so shocked. I know dh doesn't really want to do this, but while I was trying to make excuses and get out of it, he said, "It's okay, we can eat somewhere." She offered to cook, but he said that would take longer for the afternoon, and he preferred to just eat at the small restaurant across the street from our church. Since we get out of church at 11:30, it's usually easy to get in and out quickly there.
