Satisfying Saturday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Have a Saturday that satisfies! Whether you need to accomplish "great things" or carve out time for self-care, or just putter around the house, make sure it's satisfying and exactly what you need today!

I just poured my second cup of coffee and am assessing the day. Dh has gone to Torah Study and will go to Costco afterwards. I think he's going to a movie this afternoon with ds and we'll have dinner out with ds tonight for Mother's Day before we leave tomorrow.

I don't have many specific things on my list, it's "just" the big categories right now:
-get ready for the beach
-finish research report

Rolled into those categories is a trip to grocery (didn't find what I needed at closer grocery yesterday, but I didn't want to drive further with storms imminent) and drugstore, laundry, and call ahead for dinner "reservations." The restaurant doesn't make reservations, but they will take phone calls the day of dinner for "call ahead" so you get the next available table when you get there.

In the interest of getting ready for the beach, I'm charging my Kindle and being sure I have some books downloaded.

Good Morning!

Twins - Thanks for the encouraging start.

I slept in this morning until 7am and am enjoying the slower pace that comes with Saturdays.

Memories are sweet this morning. 48 years ago, I gave birth to our first child. I continue to be astonished how quickly time passes. We will team up later today to call him for birthday wishes.

As school winds down, the planning and enrolling for summer camps start up. DD10 will be attending 4 camps if I can get them all timed right. I just enrolled DD10 to attend a 3D animation camp in the city on the first week of June. That same week DS13 will be attending Sooner camp on the other side of the state. Although he is considering changing his mind because he doesn't want to miss work. I keep reminding DS13 to BE A KID instead of wanting to work all the time. He considers work to be fun and energizing.

It’s not very satisfying at the moment. Our power is out. It’s been reported and I’m going to go on to the grocery and drugstore.

Happy birthing day, Lady M!

Went to breakfast with dd/dsonil but ate very gingerly. First solid food I've had since Tuesday. I still feel like I'd been run over by a truck -or maybe a freight train. My face is quite swollen on the right side but it's better. I'm trying to be so careful. I had 'dry socket' once and never want to experience that again!

Dh gave me a huge scare this morning -details in J&C, but it's all good (I think). I was able to view his after visit summary and it agrees with what he told me.

DD just left to go talk with dbil and is taking DBiscuit with her. At one time they'd thought about getting him a dog for company now that he's completely alone, but that thought changed with his present diagnosis. Dh thought it was a great idea to take "therapy dog" with her.

I was excersising so guess I'll get back at it. Now that my nerves have calmed. I almost had myself calling the airline to see when I could fly north. This is definitely too long to be apart, but I don't miss the cold.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Power just came back on here. I'm heading upstairs in a bit. Need to reboot laundry and do a few things.

Continuing with the effort to get the kids summer camp ready. I have both kids going through their summer clothes to make sure they have enough to pack for camp. DS13 said he needs 3 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts, so we ordered them. He thinks that will be enough. DD10 is still going through her clothes. We did find her a new swimsuit and coverup earlier this week so that is done.

DH is with his DMom doing her weekly hair appt. She usually wants to go out to eat after her hair appt, so she is ready to settle in for the rest of the day once she gets home.

Dee, I'm dismayed to hear you still have so much discomfort and hope that's over soon.

Twins' how long was your outage? Glad you're electrified again.

Nancy's musical dressers sounds like something I might benefit from, too.

Hope LadyM's son has a happy birthday.

I wish I'd come in and said Happy Birthday to Sadie, which I seem to have forgotten. I think I remembered to mention LadyM's coming up.

Dstepson brought lots of food-type gifts today, with big container of coleslaw as an especially nice gift. He and HRH worked on a camera system.

Chatted with dd23 longer than expected by phone. She had a lot to tell. We expect her tomorrow.

I reminded both of them that they, alone in our family, are adults blessed to still have a living grandmother - get on that phone!

Outside I planted 3 more plants, one floral. Did a little watering with can in areas that seem to stay dry.

Harriet, I think we were out a couple of hours, maybe a little more. I got out of the house for a couple of errands so I didn't feel I was sitting her twiddling my thumbs.

I spent the afternoon upstairs. Ds took us out to eat tonight and I've had some down time reading on the couch. Now it's time for the final push to packed. I hope in the a.m. I can s2s and have breakfast and be off. Dh will pack coolers.

Probably will shut down laptop tonight and pack it up.
