I am sure moving to your new home and finding out that it is not protected from developers is overwhelming everyone in your community. To change from farm land to a suburb is horrible to say the least. I think that's why the town near us chose to have a set amount of acres per home owner so that developers wouldn't ruin the landscape. I am so sorry this is happening to your community d Harriet!

We used to have 10 acres in the middle of farm land and last time I checked they had built 5 homes on our property. We had sold it to an individual whose family then bargained with the city to break up the property. It was devastating for our farm neighbors bc they knew that properties around them would be next.

Happy Birthday DDee!

Whoosh! There went my morning. It was time well spent but it is astonishing how fast the time goes.

I slept well with a high sleep score and was up and going before the alarm to wake the kids. Routines have been loosely followed, but I still need to check my daily SHE cards to see what I have forgotten to do.

I went to the farm to get fresh eggs. I like seeing the chickens running around and knowing exactly where/how the eggs came from. Sidetracking a bit while speaking of chicken & fresh eggs.....I was talking to DDIL this morning and she was telling me how her best friend has started renting 2 chickens. I hadn't heard of that before, so she explained that her friend pays $100 a month to rent 2 chickens and a small coop. The coop & chickens live in her back yard and she gets fresh eggs every day. She has fallen in love with the chickens and is now going to buy them.

DH and I went to the local grocery store and picked up some fresh vegetables and milk. Pork chops were on sale for $1.79 so several of those came home with us too.

Homeschool was done and DS13 is working now. He is scrapping windows today. These are new windows that were installed in the house they are renovating but the windows were not taped before they spray painted the new walls. DS13 is rarely unhappy with any job he is given but this one is not his favorite. I think it might be the frustration that the windows should have been covered before painting.

I had planned on taking DD10 to a snake presentation tonight at the local library. She wanted to learn more about snakes and hold them. However she came home from school not feeling well so we are staying home. I checked her temperature and it is normal. She is eating well and has no symptoms.
Hum....This morning she admitted that she stayed on the phone all night with one of her friends. They both fell asleep while on phone with each other and woke up at 5am to start talking again. She knows better than to do this. I know better too. I normally have her phone automatically turned off at bedtime but I turned that feature off when she went to stay with DD44 and I forgot to turn it back on. DD10 not feeling good could very easily be from not getting enough sleep. #ParentalFailure

I made chicken salad, boiled squash, cooked carrots and a big green salad today. I ordered cheeseburgers for the kid's supper.

Happy Birthday to Dee!

You know, I found myself looking at that date and thinking there's something about it, but I wasn't at home at the time and not associating our village, I guess!

blessed, thanks for your sweet thoughts about my well-being! Actually, we moved a short distance within the same area and have knowledge. What's happening is that a municipal board is considering road changes now in reaction (overreaction) to developments that were finished years back. When those developments were being considered, there was no discussion that later on, they'd be used as reasons to make further changes. Many are up in arms about this, so I'm hoping there are enough voices, and no one really needs mine. Still, I see the unfairness and unnecessary expense, etc. I don't see how money would be appropriated for this idea when other areas in even our own county are begging for road funds, but then as I said before ... .. not surrounded by the brightest. Money, however, talks. And lack of money speaks up distinctly.

It was a relatively easy few hours caring for the boys. Youngest, however, free now with summertime to be on his video games, must have said "Look!" 1,000 times. His mother warned me that he'd had several falls through the day and gone into tears a couple times with the frustration of a day that held too many accidents. While I was there, he did bump himself in the face with the doggy gate, but looked at me, and I guess I didn't look too sympathetic, so didn't complain.

IMHO, one lesson we might learn by this is that native Hawaiians consistently had enough sense not to do things like that.
