What signs are you seeing today?

I just saw a NEGATIVE sign that brought me joy. DD11 woke up with 101.5 fever and said her throat was hurting yesterday. I did a c19 antigen test on her and am thankful it isn't showing up. It has been 3 days since she came home from camp so I suspect she has that stomach virus/bug/germ. No one else is sick but we will be isolating and keeping our germs at home.

Today I am looking for positive signs today one was bs was excellent when I got up yea!
Another is that it is NOT raining this morning.
Last evening after a rain shower I edged along the front side yard & picked up clippings.
Had a good dream.
Remembered to cook up the dog's bones.

I need to fuel the other rig trying to decide if I will do that today or not.

I need ideas for 4th of July gift basket!

what I am seeing:
The routines are helping my home!
I do find I am less frustrated but I have to find a balance between the outside and inside work.

Getting one worst job and one tedious job, out of the way, helps my brain feel less cluttered. It's a good thing. (I may not like doing it but once it's done, I feel better).

My worst job today:
bring down the dead plants and empty the pots
bring down the rug with the nails, carefully, and toss in can

Tedious Job for today:
garbage in back yard from dogs
put away food boxes from chewy
garbage in garage

this week:
Work on balance between inside the house and outside.

Continue working on reducing my visual clutter from our move out and into the house.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OUR VILLAGE DADS!

Just came home from a Father's Day Breakfast at DS-R's. He used his big griddle for the first time. They've been out twice this week to get it pre-seasoned. This is a 'blackstone griddle' -BIG!! Very nice, then we went up to the camp store and got dh's free Father's Day Donut. He could have had coffee if he'd wanted it. (I need to make a note to buy creamer today when we go to Geneseo. I'm out! So no coffee for me this morning -I know: I'm spoiled.)

It's still quite windy and cold out. I nearly froze (well, not really) while out for breakfast outside.

Dh and I decided against going to church this morning and I guess that was a good thing. So now we'll go to Geneseo this afternoon and hit G oodwill (put a good share of what didn't sell yesterday in the back of our car), the bank and W almart. It'll be my first time in Wally world in probably at least well over 2 years. Can get the creamer there and want to look for jeans for dh. He bought two nice pair of work jeans there last year. Only trouble is the first pair he managed to almost immediately fill with some kind of acid holes. Good "buy" jeans.

I need a big sign for today that says "Take some down time!" I was exhausted by last night. After the cemetery visit I got home, had lunch and regrouped to go to the river. We had a very long boat ride exacerbated by the fact the boat couldn't go fast at all - something wrong with motor. And it was still hot in the sun when we were out of the wind or going with the wind so I felt sweaty and sticky with sun screen. Anyway, by the time we got back, the bilge was filling up with water and bilge pump not working. This board doesn't belong to the friend - it belongs to someone else who lets friend use it in exchange for dfriend working on it some and for the dock space. So friend has about decided to terminate the agreement because it's falling apart. Anyway, the bilge was too full of water to get it on the lift out of the water and so he and dh went to buy a bilge pump. He eventually got it pumped out and today is getting it onto a trailer to take a look at it. This dfriend is super handy and loves to tinker with things so he's enjoyed getting his lift going and tinkering with the boat.

We stayed until almost 10 p.m. - it is so gorgeous there - and sat outside the whole time. The location is a river gorge with a mountain behind and a mountain on the other side of the river. I really would have enjoyed some floats and the chance to get in the water...

So earlier dh went to meet ds to see his new place. He won't close on it until someone in July. I begged off after I had wanted to go. They were meeting at nine and I just didn't feel I could be up and out and cleaned up at that hour.

Yesterday's rush to be cleaned up and out of the house in the morning, and the subsequent reset to go to the river left a lot of "footprints" behind. I need to walk and get a shower and get a.m. routine done and things pulled back together. We're meeting ds at 1:15 for a late father's day brunch, a little less than three hours away.

Oops, may not walk because ds is here with dh now.

Morning...

Yesterday turned out different than expected, but in a positive way. My son and his daughter came over for an afternoon swim, animal crackers and home made ice pops from the freeze. We had a splendid time!

Not long after they left we were hit by a monstrous thunderstorm complete with wicked lighting and booming thunder. I sat out in the covered part of my lanai and watched the show. Lighting was hitting was hitting very, very close to me with huge bolts lighting up the sky. Weather forecast is predicting the same starting sometime this afternoon. After living in AZ and seldom seeing these types of storms, I am really happy to see them again. When I lived in Mobile, these types of storms were a normal occurrence and I missed them.

Dee...how did your sale turn out from yesterday? When I was a kid, a group of us kids would put together a garage sale. Lots of fun and I was the future teller. Think I used one of those Magic 8 balls. We always donated our monies to our volunteer fire house. I was also the banker. Hadn't thought about that in a very long time.

I'm headed to Wal greens to pick up a few things in a minute. Want to get there before the storm is suppose to show up. BTW, my mom was admitted to rehab yesterday. We, my brother and I, made the decision not to visit her till tomorrow. We know it will take her time to settle in and when she becomes confused she can really get nasty to us. Being this is Father's Day I told my brother to stay home. His son and DIL are coming to visit and bring their daughter. My brother has yet to meet his new grand daughter and I told him it was more important to enjoy the day with them. Most likely my mother won't even know the difference.

My brothers other son has been away on business this past week. Turns out several of the people there had COVID and he caught it. He is fully vaccinated. When he got home and was standing at his door, his wife wouldn't let him in...they have a 8 month old son. Told him to get a hotel room. My brother told him to come to his house, go directly to his old room and don't come out! My mom's condo is empty so my brother took his son over there to recuperate. I asked if they drove in the same car, and he said...No WAY His mother brought food for him and left it at the door. My brother says his son sounds like he has a very bad cold.

Blessed...I could have gotten the audio version of Perry Mason, but I was really interested to see what Erie Stanly Gardner's writing style was like. His Perry Mason series ranks third in the ten best selling book series. A while ago ... I don't know the appropriate name of the society of American lawyers honored the character of Perry Mason as the best example of what a lawyer should be.

Off to run my errands before the storm starts to hit. The rain clouds are already forming...

If I had LadyM's Fitbit I'm pretty sure it would tell me to rest today. I walked three laps but it felt like it was all uphill!

I'm going to get my shower and clean up the kitchen. I have the debris down to one counter now...

Happy Father's Day and Juneteenth on a rare year they fall together. Our Dad's day celebration took a funny turn last evening as neighbors from dd42 to dstepson houses and beyond lost power but ours did not. The last time this happened, it turned out to be cows scratching and shoving against a post but there were no cows in the pasture this time, so even though the problem was at the same place something must have been different.

Anyway, part of our Father's Day plans changed as dd42's family stayed here through the darker/dark hours until power was restored before 11. The older boys enjoyed part of their MMP game with Grandpa and the young ones hung out playing youtubes of funny animals. The youngest was getting sleepy but had not fallen asleep yet when we learned power was back.

I'm headed over to dd42's now while HRH has lunch with dstepson. I'll have pizza with dd and the younger boys at her house while he and his two sidekicks of the day get back to their gaming here, with pizza fuel. We know dd23 wants to drop by but haven't heard when.
