Today is the U.S. observed date for Juneteenth so post office, banks, and a lot of places are closed. (Remember that when you're planning the day!)

And it means my dh is home. I'm feeling kind of salty about that! I'm heading out to walk a little while it's still cool. I'm hoping to walk on my own for now.

Later I have repotting to do, and back to genealogy. also need some laundry catch up.

Good Morning!

Twins - Thanks for the start and reminder.

DD11 continues to run fever and feel yucky. She is eating and drinking normally so I'm ruling out the stomach bug. Her c19 test was negative yesterday but I'm suspecting that she has covid. I called our family doctor and got DD11 an appt for 1:20 today. Small problem......I have a 2:00 appt in the city for Infusion Therapy so I have asked DH to take DD11 to the doctor. I have written and printed a detailed timeline of DD11 symptoms for them to give to the doctor. Neither one of them are good at giving that type of information so I feel better sending the printout with them.

This morning I decided I didn't want to spend so much time on daily cards. I was to Move it! Move it! Move It! and get them done efficiently. It always surprises me how much can be accomplished when I focus.

My d bro will be here any minute but I wanted to say hi - so HI!

yesterday I took another nap - I wonder why my body is going down this road right now. I don't care for it but I am hoping it's only a temporary time.
I didn't get my dailies done yesterday - I did get my worst jobs and tedious jobs done which make me feel less stressed.

GOAL: GET BACK INTO BALANCE BETWEEN OUTSIDE AND INSIDE (AND DOGS)
AM WHILE COOL: WORK OUTSIDE
PM WHILE HOT OUTSIDE: WORK INSIDE INCLUDING ROUTINES. FLOORS DEFINITELY

My garden is falling apart as I have stayed inside working so now I really have to balance my time with both the inside and the outside. The outside is getting away from me.

Today's worst job: plant every single plant not planted - no matter what weeds are in the area. Plant - don't overthink. It's becoming a job that makes me feel bad about myself as it is overwhelming me bc the plants are suffering.

I watched garden answer's garden tour for June - over an hour!!! loved it but it took me away from what I need to do.

I had a great walk - talked to dfriend M as she was coming back from her early walk with Ruby, then ran into another neighbor walking and walked and talked with her. I don't know how many laps but I am at 5K steps now. Dh spent some time going through his closet and drawers and purging things. I talked him into putting it in the car for me to take, too, instead of leaving it for me.

So he's finally out of the house for awhile.

I need to
-repot a couple of plants
-refill meds containers
-water plants
-pack up that DNA kit to send to cousin - I never did it last Friday and since Sat a.m. plans changed it couldn't have gone to the post office then anyway.

I spent an hour playing in the garden. I watered and harvested onions, peppers, tomatoes, and strawberries. I think the asparagus might be done producing for the year. It has huge ferns about 10' tall which are needed to make the roots strong for next year. This is year 3 so it should be fully established now. Asparagus is one of my favorite vegetables and so easy to grow once it is established. Now it needs little maintenance to remain productive for the next 3 decades. I pulled up some volunteer squash plants because they weren't doing well. I also started the process of removing the cauliflower plants. They are over 3' diameter in size and require using a knife to cut through the thick stems.

I decided to hold off on calling for HVAC repair. With two medical appts plus DMIL care there are big chunks of time that we can't be here today to meet HVAC workers. The main part of the house a/c is working okay but it also struggles during the afternoon hours of over 100F temperatures. It is one of the additions to the house that is having the most problems. The fun room has over 20' of solid glass wall so it isn't as energy effective as regular walls. You can feel the heat radiating from the glass. I suspect that a/c unit might be undersized. I'll wait until tomorrow to call.

((blessed)) I hope the happy faces on each flower remind you they are fun, not just work! (however, let's you and me BOTH remember they are not sentient beings! We can talk to them but if we can't keep them thriving, there are no police on that beat.)

I must admit also wearing myself out outdoors this a.m. and feeling bad about my own inability, in the heat, to have the stamina (and thighs) to keep going. I was up and down a lot and finally one thigh/knee decided we should stop.

Dd got her start date for her NEW JOB! She will still work for the university system in Instructional Design, but will formally be associated with the nearby univ now, rather than the one hours away (and office at least a half-hour from here). She applied because they said "hybrid" but when they found she was by far the most qualified, and really wanted her, she was disappointed in how few days were at home, and declined. The dean of that school/dept offered her FULLY AT HOME if she would change her mind, no less pay or benefits, and she took it. This will mean so much in the boys' lives, giving them a feeling of security that their single parent is not far away. She does have a convenient office and can go in whenever it would best suit her.

Dd23 took her around the campus for a tour, even though dd42 once knew this campus inside and out. She is an alumni here (Bachelor's) as well as there. The changes have been so immense that she was surprised to be so dependent on dd23. Lots of tricks and tips regarding which of the many places to eat, park, etc., are best were so helpful, she says.

Visiting her sister's new office was bittersweet for dd23 because it is at the epicenter of the tragedy dd23 dealt with several years ago. That smaller-than-most building has been exclusively turned into offices of that dean and support staff, so that it will be respected still, but not a classroom situation any more and lightly traveled - wounds just too fresh.

I did try errands later this morning, although I did know P.O. must wait until tomorrow. Lots of construction caused delay, but it was okay and I got one direction of errands done.

I worked outside until it got hot-i am sitting in front of the fan to cool off it feels great! dogs are with me as well - I have the sprinkler on now. I did remove the morning glories that are growing wild and put them along the fence line - hoping the take.
did some weeding
appreciated the pumpkins that are coming in. I need to get some straw.
tomatoes died due to lack of watering this last week while I worked inside.
I am sure I can still get some but I HAVE TO plant them right away. I will have dh go with me bc it will give me the push to plant them as soon as I get home.

Hourly:
As it is so hot already (for me) I think I am going to change up my plan.
Every hour take my auger and plant one, or two, of the 1 gallon containers in flower garden - perfect place or not
mark with paint where the plants will go
set up one little area of rocks
trash anywhere that the dogs made - or I made.

until it gets super hot - work in garage
find the landscape fabric in the garage and place by dry river bed
take apart old arbor that broke. and put on side of the house
take garbage outside
build bench and place in back

Tomorrow: dh has a glaucoma dr. appoint at 1:00 so we have to leave at 12:15
water in am by hand
change dog pool water
hope wake up to be able to start garden work at 7 am before dh's appointment and the super heat comes in.
