There will be fireworks! Picnics and barbeques. Going to a beach or park. Early risers might go fishing. Boating and being on the water. There will be no doctor or dentist appointments. No mail delivery. Banks are closed.

Sounds like an appropriate day to begin a long weekend for all of us! Happy Day to Canada and all of our Canadian friends here!

Happy Canada Day!

Dh has gone to get some meat to BBQ tonight.

Cleaning lady is coming today. Time for me to get out of this chair and go make the bed.

Update... all clean laundry is away. Bed is made. Air conditioning is on. All dirty laundry is in the washing machine and it is going. Dishwasher is full and waiting for it's turn to work. (I never run both at once because we have a septic system with narrow pipes leading to it.) All other dishes are washed and are now drying themselves on the rack. I'm dressed. Dh is back home and he put away the groceries. We are having steak tonight!

Now I can go cross stitch. My goodness, we are so exciting in this house...

Happy Canada Day!

Today is the 5th & final VBS day. As soon as the kids are picked up by their parents, we will immediately start taking down VBS decorations. Every wall and many of the ceilings are decorated. Twenty-seven adults and teens have volunteered to help do this so it shouldn't take long. I will be gathering up the decorations I borrowed from the school and putting them in my SUV until they can be returned. When I borrowed them, they filled the bed of the pickup so I am hoping I can get them to all fit in the SUV.

After the church is undecorated then I will start the cleaning process. I will have 1.5 days to clean the church. The lady who normally cleans is going to another state to visit her widowed dad. I need a check list, so it gives me clearly defined cleaning tasks to do in the different areas. Right now, it just seems overwhelming and endless number of things to clean.

Up and doing my morning routines. All ready folded three loads of laundry. Yesterday I didn’t make my bed. That’s two days in a row I didn’t do it…Oh my don’t know how long it’s been since I did that.

After I put everything away I need to get dressed. I need to do a Wally World run. Sweetie wants to go with me. I’m going to buy a few extra things in case I can get good enough to cook on the grill. Then I’ll ask my son and his family over for a swim and hamburgers and hot dogs.

I think we've put together a small last minute family gathering for tomorrow night. DS and dd, dcousin J, her dd and family and her ds and family. Still trying to get in touch with her other dd. I say "and famMily" even tho I don't know if any of the grandkids - a little younger than my kids - will be here. Dh will grill burgers and chicken. Cousins are bringing stuff too. I need to figure the rest out. Ds also had asked dh about going out for brunch with us on Sunday so I made a reservation.

I have sheets in the washer and would like to spend the a.m. on catching up downstairs, and then afternoon upstairs. Dh is at work, and playing golf this afternoon. I think that instead of cooking, I'll put together a "board" for us of meat, veggies and fruit and we'll graze tonight.

I'm not walking this a.m. I am achy and need to stretch more but hate to get on the floor after the vertigo last week. I wore a blister on a toe earlier this week and it's not on the mend yet and I'm trying to be careful with it. It looked dark red and discolored last night but better this a.m. I've soaked it in epsom salt and plan to do it more today. I'm not diabetic, but I've heard too many stories of sore on the foot not healing with horrible results.

The only damage to my phone seems to be that perhaps there is rice in the area where the charger goes, and I can't charge it with a cable. Dh has a wireless charger that you stand the phone on, and he says I can have it for now. There's a car charger that does the same thing apparently. The back of my phone, when I take it out of the case, has a lot of cracks in it and I hate to think of taking the back off to get to the little charger insert. Looks like I have an iphone Xr, introduced in 2018? Not ready to replace if I can help it.

Happy Canada Day to Cathy and all the rest of our Canadians! So glad to see Bittersweet hanging around again; missing Kathryn.

I really ought to get a grocery list together and get some things. Don't want to get too much with our refrigerator being iffy. But we are getting together with friends on Monday and need to have something to bring. Thing is, I know the little store does not have everything I want. I hate to go the big store, and they use an in-house shopping service that only has so many slots per day. I'm sure there won't be anything available till Tuesday. The thing to do, I guess, is to look online and see if the store around the corner has what I need. It's still pretty large, though, AND they've recently rearranged everything, but they use the third-party shopping service, which is generally available right away, so I will likely use that.

Did not do any payroll yesterday. Instead, DC had a thing at the community college to be driven to, so I did a couple of errands. Embarrassed myself; went to drop off the the bad router that had to be returned to our ISP. Had my choice of the UPS Store or the FedEx store to drop it off at. Went to UPS deliberately because FedEx was such a pain the last time this happened. Told the clerk behind the counter that the form said I could drop it off at the FedEx store, to which he answered, "Or you could drop it off here at the UPS store." I was mortified, but it was said with good humor, and the clerk was really excellent otherwise. I should have checked his name and praised him to the manager.

I should do some payroll today. If I can meet online with the expert to have my questions answered about the last couple of things, I have two sections that will only need a final polish and a proofread.

I will go clean up breakfast and get the wash started.

I'm writing a lot so broke it up into two posts!

Our kitchen remodel is finally on the move and they will start demolition next week. Eeek! It's going to be crazy. Need to pick out new countertops, back splash, faucet. Going to keep stove and dishwasher. Refrigerator may need replacement. I'm terrified that it will doe altogether and we'll have to order and wait a long time for a new one. (We have extra in the garage, but it would still be a pain.) The support for the drawers on the inside is broken so they, along wiht the bottom shelf, are not supported.

I'm going to rely on the expertise of dfriend M (not the one in the neighborhood) who is redoing her kitchen now. She was able to resell her cabinets and countertop.

I'm already getting huffy with dh about what I consider his over the top attention to home improvement details. I never knew that the refrigerator door not being able to open fully on one side was such an issue. Now he's talking about wanting to move the refrigerator over. Yesterday was the first I had heard of the issue.

Mystery, this will be a busy weekend for those grocery store shoppers for sure.

I must admit that, while driving home from work yesterday, I felt some degree of envy for the families I saw driving on their way out of town, towing campers, trailers, canoes, and such. I don't have to go in to work today, but neither does it feel like a holiday...just another day of housework, getting stuff done over at dMum's place to get it ready to go on the market, and yeah...it's a bit of a pity party over here. Lots of wine for anyone who stops by.

I already have a long list of things to get accomplished before going to visit dMum this afternoon. I'd better get started, cause if I let the pity party run the show and I don't get anything done, it's certainly not going to do anything positive for my mood!

First up:

- dishes
- feed poor starving critters
- bag up bottles/cans to be returned
- change the wax in all the Scentsy warmers (I have five on the go, currently)
- declutter a bunch of emails while I'm sitting here waiting for dbratdog to finish her breakfast

First, though, I'm going to go back and catch up on yesterday, and see if there's any news about dDee's hubby.

Definitely LOL about Twins and her 2018 iPh*ne!! Is now a good time to admit I'm still using my Sams&ung Galaxy7 from about 2016? It works fine, and it gives me a good excuse to say, "No! I don't want your bleepin' app for that! There's no more room on my phone!"

Happy CANADA DAY to Cathy, Kathryn, Bittersweet and any other of our Canadien villagers who might be lurking.

I've tried on a new pair of jeans and they fit -next size (or maybe 2) down and they fit! Now to look for that post that Harriet did so long ago on hemming jeans. They're petite and I only have to hem them about 4".

See dh is evidently in for about an hour test -heart- of some kind right now supposedly. It's called: Transthoracic Echocardiography. New one on me. I see the Dcampmanager posted on our campground page (FB) to send him b'day wishes today and a quick recovery. Nice -he'll really appreciate that when he sees it. Still don't know if he's coming home today, but at least he's now in a regular room.

DS-R was just here and took a bag of trash down for me. Think I'm going to try doing one load of laundry in a few minutes. Hoping he won't be coming home for at least a couple of hours. For one thing I know they'll be waiting for his test results. Had other results come in earlier and I see his white blood count is dropping a little, but so is his potassium -which we don't want. They might just increase that. I'm pretty sure they'll be putting him on a blood thinner as well.
