Our church in FL has cancelled services tomorrow due to, you guessed it -Covid.

Dh and dd have gone to Buffalo to watch a scrimmage game between the Sabres draftees this morning. Today is DDIL-R's birthday and we'll be celebrating that later today. Usually buy a cheesecake for her but she bought a lucious looking cake at B J ' s yesterday -white raspberry with cream cheese filling. Sounds decadent.

I'm feeling better today and have started my morning dailies.

All of my laundry is clean, dry and put away and it's only just past 9 a.m. on a Saturday.

Dishes are all clean and dry as well. I guess I should go empty the dishwasher.

Dh has done all his watering in the vegetable gardens.

hello d dee, d Cathy and everyone!!!!

the gardener man is coming this morning for 3 hours. I thought I could dig out the bushes and plants out in front on my own but I decided that I need help with this. I have the plumbing company coming money to excavate the front of the house to fix the large sewer pipe that is leaking and starting to crack.

while he is here I will use his strength to remove the remaining flowers in the flower bed (we had soaking rains that rotted out most of the plants roots) - now there are grasses fully intrenched in the hard soil
what he will do: dig out the plants that survived,
dig up the dirt so that I can pull all the grasses and weeds out
bring the soil/compost bags to the back and place them on top after I put bricks around it.
I will replant the flowers
I am thinking of having him dig a small trench in front of the flower bed and fill it with pea gravel. (we get run off from all our neighbors in spring).

The first 5 routines are done.

I'm feeling good but have a desire to take my activity level down a notch or two. Instead of go-go-go mode, I would like to drop into relax and chill mode for a day or two. My DBro tells me that I don't have a clue what it means to relax. I will agree that his method of relaxing and mine are different, but I suspect that is true of everyone.

I prepared the daily journal pages for next week. Part of that process is putting the predicted temperature on each day/page. Just when i thought we had hot weather, I discovered it is going to get hotter. 105 is our coolest day next week. Most days are 110-116F.

DS13 just left for work. We discussed clothes worn by those who work in the heat all day. Most wear long sleeves and long pants. There are many who wear hoodies. Today DS13 has 2 shirts on. A short sleeve t-shirt with a long sleeve hoodie over it. To contrast.... most people who don't work outside seem to wear as small amount of clothing possible.

It's already a 'satiating' Saturday for most of us. WTG, gals!

Just went down to the farm stand and picked up 1 cucumber and 2 tomatoes to the tune of $4. Shouldn't be surprised at the cost when I think of the increased costs to produce anything these days. But then I did save on gas. The farm stand is here on the grounds each Saturday from today till they stop producing. At least our little way of helping someone else make it through.

Dh left his phone here today when he and DD left for Buffalo at 7am. Expect they'll be back in an hour or so.

Thought our dneighbors were going to be here this weekend -but not so far anyway. Maybe later.

Good morning, village! It's rather busy for so early in the morning (it's early here )Yesterday was my first day off, and it was mostly spent running errands - five stops in the morning, and seven in the afternoon. A lot of driving with the price of gas the way it is these days! The plan had been to go to dMum's in the afternoon to do more weeding, but somehow the errands kept piling up. The only one that needs to be done today is picking up potatoes and pumpkin. We're lucky enough to have a decent sized grocery store across the alley, so DH will be doing that one.

I have, as usual, put a LOT of stuff on my todo list for the day. The basics are that I'm going to do some work around here for an hour or two, then head to dMum's for several hours to do weeding. Did I mention the huge swath that was mowed right through the middle of her front yard? Then there was a second one that expanded on the first one? I contacted the property owner to see if they had done it (I thought probably not, since (a) there was absolutely no warning given and (b) they wouldn't have stopped before it was completely mowed down) They assured me that they had not done it, and they didn't think the county would have done it, either. I'm about 98% sure I know who did it. dMum has a neighbour who thinks he's god's gift to gardens. The darn thing is that the man couldn't tell a dandelion from a delphinium!! He's mowed down several plants that I was going to save and bring to my house. If he's touched it again since I was last there, I will most definitely be having words with him! He's the same neighbour that decided to mow along a gravel bed that was along the side of their house facing dMum's. A rock spat out from under the mower and shattered one the window in one of dMum's doors onto the deck. The window was basically the entire door! He tried to deny it. Said it wasn't his fault and he hadn't done it. Actually went right into dMum's house and started yelling and swearing at her (heaven help him if he tries that with me!). The neighbour from across the road came over to see what was going on. He pointed out the rock sitting on the deck about 3ft from with door with the shattered window, and basically told the idiot neighbour that it was plainly obvious to anyone with eyes that he had caused that rock to fly out from under the mower and break dMum's window. He also told the neighbour that he'd have to pay to have it replaced. Needless to day, the neighbour wasn't happy, but he's a short, stout little thing, and the guy across the road is MUCH taller! In the end, idiot neighbour from next door paid to have the window replaced. I don't think dMum ever spoke to him again.

Anyways...I can't help change the man's idiocy, and don't really want to. I have enough other things to do with my day! So far, I've fed the dstarving critters and refilled my meds. I'm still on my first cup of coffee...thank goodness for microwaves! It's rather odd. I like hot coffee. I don't like cold coffee. Yet I LOVE iced coffee!

bw2 when you mentioned runoff, I thought of dMum's garden with its false creek bed. We have something similar here that dson and I built a couple of years ago. Ours is made of bricks, though, so we call it a spillway. It's quite fun to watch it during a downpour!

Annndd of course I got sidetracked again, didn't I? This is one of the things I was watching https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=571300971257510 Now I need to get off my butt and get some things done before the whole morning is gone and I don't get over to dMum's!

- move box of Christmas decorations downstairs (they're from dMum's, in case you thought I hadn't put mine away yet )

Morning...

Started my day with a sinus headache, but after coffee and meds its gone. Then spent some time while chatting with my son while he is on the road. He and his partner are opening up their 7th restaurant in Montgomery with an 8th on in the works for the Birmingham area. I sure am proud of my "sons".

In the meantime my ddil and her kids are flying to St Louis to visit her relatives. My son with be gone for a week and she wont be back until a week from Tue. She's a brave woman traveling with a 3 yr old and a 9 month old baby. Know she will enjoy her visit once she arrives.

Sweetie scheduled a handyman to come on Monday to do some small jobs around our home. Then on Thursday, a plumber is coming to replace all the water values that are connected to all our water outlets. Seems the builders used plastic ones and the water pressure being delivered into them is much greater that what they can withstand. Six people just on our street have had their homes flooded when some of the values broke. The fellow next door had a huge water brake and needed to replace much of his first floor. Now he told Sweetie he and his wife plan to be gone for several weeks because their home now has a bad mold problem due to the break.

There are many stories within the phase 3 development that are having the same problem, not just on our street, so the plumber is coming to change all our water values from plastic to brass. That means by Thursday morning I will need to empty out all my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Sort of a mini Twins situation.

Blessed.. I am exhausted trying to keep up with all your gardening projects. Wish you could post pictures so we could see all the before and after work. I have two plants I need to repot and I keep putting it off cause I don't feel like playing in the dirt at the moment.

We, along with Harmony, are in the summer fun of thunderstorms most afternoons. Sometimes they show up around two and sometimes later. Today is a very overcast day so I suspect the rains are not far behind. Haven't looked at my radar yet. Want to make a run to the dollar store so I will be keeping my eyes looking at the skies. On the other hand, the moon has been beautiful here and is really putting on a show.

LadyM...I don't envy you with the heat and am so glad to be out of it. Temps that high for that long can really work on your soul. All the workers in my area in AZ wear long sleeve shirts and many need to wear worker vest. Most highway work is done at night due to the heat, but others like landscapers, cable and phone guys and such aren't so lucky.

Thanks for the good thoughts, Dee. Even grilling last night was a challenge - was lamb chops which won't go into a plastic bag to marinate (the bones cut it up!) so I had a flat glass container to wash up and so much juice from raw meat. Dh did help me out and get the hose around back to water plants - I usually just carry out a gallon jugs of water but can't fill in a sink right now. I guess I could fill in our big bathtub but then I carry through the house.

So yesterday I did get the kitchen table cleared off and covered and put some things away and stashed some in MBR. And in the DR set up a dish drain for things I wash out in the powder room sink across the foyer.

I told dh that if I was still asleep when he got home from Torah study today to not wake me up! I have been so tired this week and have been getting up earlier and feeling stressed.

After I started this I fielded a 40 minute phone call about the temple cemetery money. And in 32 minutes, registration begins for the virtual genealogy institute in January and I need to be ready to sign up!

And I got into my January course! It will be online and I've paid and blocked out the week. I'm enjoying all the Facebook talk about who got into what course, and how easy it was to sign up. More than two years into the pandemic they have it figured out.

Twins - Congratulation on getting into the course!

I watered in the garden until I needed to come inside and cool down. I prepared myself a BGS and some leftovers for lunch. There is an abundance of leftovers so I'm not cooking until they are greatly reduced.

My goal for today is to research high school Oklahoma history curriculum, get it purchased and lessons planned for fall semester.
