We have a heat alert here in the Great White North!

I have paperwork to get done for the accountant, so I will be spending a lot of time at my desk this weekend. I cleared it off yesterday right down to the bare wood! I haven't seen most of that wood since January or early February. My accountant told me yesterday that he wants this paperwork by the end of this month. All 12 folders are ready and organized, so all that I have left to do is put the information into the big black accounting book. (My accountant and I prefer things done "old school", not online.)

LadyM when my dd was young I cleared out a dresser so she could store "stuff" in it. One of the drawers was full of pencil crayons, crayons and markers! I spent some time organizing it into colours for her. All the reds together, all the blues together, all the greens together, etc. in their own containers. I think the bottom drawer had paper supplies. I think one drawer had hair stuff.

Supper tonight will be green beans from the garden, Hamburger Helper with beef and onions in it. Can't think of what else, because I think that's all we will be having. Kitchen is almost clean, just a few dishes need to go into the dishwasher.

For a break, I think I will go to knitting this afternoon.

we are supposed to have 95 degrees - my aunt in France is supposed to have 95 on Monday. - not something that they are not used to. so weird.
the 1700 buildings don't have ac. My mom's old house she grew up in is from the late 1600 - but the walls are really thick so hopefully that will help with the coolness. it's been really bad for the grapes that they grow for wine.

I think I will go outside while the temps are in the 70's - we had a huge beautiful lightening storm last night and lots of thunder and rain from 3 am on to 7 am this morning.

107F expected here today. The forecast says we have 6 more days of these triple digit temps before a chance of rain and dropping into the 90's.

I was up before the alarm (6am) and continued with the taping in DD11 bedroom. Taping takes a lot of time! DS13 and I had a disagreement yesterday on the taping method. His method is to just slap the tape over the area and then use a knife to cut the part of the tape off that you don't want. My method is to carefully apply the tape exactly where you don't want paint. It really doesn't matter because both methods are time consuming. Both methods are quicker than having to scrap paint off surfaces.

My plans for today include -
** Painting DD11 bedroom.
** Day #2 of 30-day DDF course. The first 4 days of this class are the most demanding in terms of time and effort. Starting anything new is always a challenge.
** Homemade Pizza. I will assemble and prep ingredients and then everyone can create their own pizza masterpiece. The Air Fryer makes cooking them easy & quick (5 minutes).

Oh, thoughts of organizing for a little girl! Loved it! Dd-now-23 and I used floral-print cardboard 4-drawer "chests" along the back of her small walk-in closet. Labeled with (wait for it) 3x5s, of course!

Thinking with Cathy, yes, I believe hair accessories got their own drawer here, definitely. Art supplies runneth over, of course. I remember when "bras" were first considered for a drawer but we were not going to write that on a label, lol.

I still use that kind of chest - helpful for quiltmaking supplies.

Party yesterday was so nice. Big meal, both cake and brownies. Our gifts were well-received.

I have watered in back the main part and did the front last nite. glad for some green grass.
I does not need mowed.
Glad I did some weeding last night.
Dishes need my attn. *
I did a special Fri. nite meal for me with home made biscuits they rose well in the warmth outside in a covered pot.

I so wanted to get the blue and tan rug at the yard sale could get it for a song today but don't know if I could lift it.
Not sure where it would go but it was lovely! Nice to dream of.

I did a bit of mending and heard the condensation pump kick on for the ac while I was downstairs so glad I thought I was going to have
to call the repairs folks because I did not thing it was working! Wahoo! That gives me joy.

I am reading "Undistracted" by Bob Goff excellent and I am enjoying it. Could work for a Bible study group or book club.
OMM; Veggie stand today on the street behind me. Went there got some veg. & zucchini & pumpkin bread.
A pens coming today, & planner for health and fitness is coming next week, I can use for fall winter.

I'm not sure if I should admit our expected high today is about 80F (26C)! It will be perfect weather for gardening, and that's what I'll be doing a lot of, both here and at dMum's. The basic plan for the day is to work around here this morning until DH drags his backside out of bed and has some coffee. Then we're going out to brunch. The afternoon will be spent at dMum's, and after supper, more work around here. I think while I'm folding laundry and doing some dusting, I'll watch the last episode of Father Brown on the video set I have so it can go back to the library.

Before any of that happens, I need to finish my coffee!!! Then I'll get moving:

- clean litter box
- clean off cat tree (it's close to the front door and much too handy for putting assorted things on)
- bring laundry upstairs and get it folded
- clear off the TV stand (again - a flat surface near the front door)
- dusting in the living room

Break #1 - feet up, first glass of iced tea in hand and fan on high. The force of air coming from fan causes me to feel like I might need a seat belt to keep from being blown away.

I walked, watered, and weeded until my hair and face were dripping sweat.

Thinking out loud....
It is too hot for seeds to germinate for fall garden. So.....what if I planted the seeds indoors like I do in the winter for the spring garden. After the seeds germinate and are established then I could transplant the seedling outside into raised beds. Seeds are plentiful and cheap; everything is already set up to support this effort so I'm going to try it. I'm okay if it fails because sometimes I just enjoy the curiosity of trying something different.

Yesterday I paid $1.00 for a single cucumber. When I saw the price, I did a double take to make sure what I was seeing was right. During the summer months it used to be common to get 10 cucumbers for a dollar. Not anymore!
