Happy Birthday George PWYC

Post by Lady Maverick »

Have you ever watched The Jetson cartoon about a family in the future?

Today is George Jetson birthday!

Just a little silly start to the day celebrating the fictional birth date of a fictional cartoon character.

A little levity in our lives is a good thing, Lady M!

After having a spectacular sleep Friday night -last night not so great. Oh well!

Had dinner with friends last night. Ate way too much and at least the scales weren't up this morning -but they weren't down either. Then DS-R called to invite us all over to their site for a campfire. Asked him why he wasn't in bed. He refereed 3 Lacross games in Canandaigua last night at 1am, 2am and 3am. It's a special Soldiers 24-hour event that he helps with every year. Since we didn't leave until nearly 9:30pm I'm sure he didn't sleep much. Was praying for safe travels for him both ways. Imagine we'll go over to see them a bit later. Once more we didn't go to church this morning -trying to wait until dh is much better when in such close proximity to so many people. And I know there would be lots of hugs and handshakes.

It was Christmas in July here yesterday/last night. There's definitely not the participation that there was in the 'old days'. So much has changed over time and with the campground being sold to a conglamerate I'm sure the changes will just keep coming. One will be that they're measuring some lot sizes to bring them more in line with what the 'new' sites are. One is DS-R's lot. I'm certain his rent is going to go up a LOT. He not only has water front but a very large lot. He was already paying several hundred more than we do for our lot. Doubt our rate will change much if any. It will however raise as it usually does each year by at least $100. Know they wanted 'former' camp owner to raise the fee by $400 this year. He wouldn't sell under that condition. Supposedly he's running the campground for the foreseeable future.

This past week the staff (dh not included) moved one pavilion across the way from where it was. Next the company who built a playground will be coming in to move that to where the pavilion was. Next they're putting in a large swimming pool & a jacuzzi. For that they're installing a huge septic tank & leach field. Going to be humming around here for some time. Just as long as dh isn't doing any digging.

Oh, your poor DH, blessed! I hope they can do something for him. I suppose they can give him an antibiotic and painkillers.

I’m reading today at church: “Vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!” The Gospel, too, is about the transience of our work here — the parable of the rich man who will die before he can “eat, drink, and be merry.” Not a real upper. Our priest is on vacation, so it will be interesting to see who has the Mass. Probably somebody on the faculty at the seminary, which is only a short distance from here.

Agenda for the day includes visiting my DM and the weekly Zoom with DH’s family. And our customary Chinese takeout Sunday dinner. I need to make currant jam — DC picked the currants off the bush the other day. I feel bad, though, because they have done all the work and don’t particularly like currant jam. But there’s only 2 cups there, and I don’t see how I can save out any of them. Ah, well, if I don’t do something quick, it will all be moot.

Have a good day, everyone!

I was in W Mart yesterday looking at all the journals. I didn't want to buy any of them, partly because I found a pile of work books on sale for 15 cents each. They each have 32 pages. For a year's worth, it cost me $1.80 instead of anywhere from $9.98 to $24.98 for a year's worth of lined paper. I kind of liked one that had a phrase in the top right corner of EVERY page ... "Always remember... being productive is far more important than being busy." That one didn't have dates or week days on the pages, it all had to be filled in. Last year I got a $3 planner at the "Dollar" store and I have used that on and off during this year. It has 1 week per page and the dates and days are already on the pages.

Tonight we are having penne with meat sauce. Before I serve the meat sauce, dh would like me to put mushrooms in some of the sauce for him.

Dh cut the grass this morning. It's a nice day here in the middle of a long weekend.

I still haven't fully CUOPed on posts from yesterday but wanted to look in. I feel like I haven't hardly had a moment alone because we've had houseguests this weekend. I'm all talked out, too, let me tell you. They are doing a "financial review" downstairs with dh (clients) so I'm getting some time at my desk.

I've been really tired this weekend, I'm sure it's that I'm peopled out.

party yesterday was lovely!
dh went to immediate care for his abscess and is now on antibiotics
paid 2nd installment of taxes

I am looking to do what's the next right thing:
meds
dog ears clean
routine - I want to work outside but the inside house needs care first - it's amazing how not doing the floor for one day makes it look gross.
eventually I will get a Roomba. (I think if I start getting lazy).
I had to tell the landscape guy who has been helping me that I can't afford him right now. it is what it is.
I have to wait until September!

--------------------------------------------

hi d cathy! good for you on finding journals that work for you!
I love mushrooms in sauce as well. I think you make the best dinners!

hi d Nancy! waving!

hi d mystery - thank you! they gave him antibiotics! it took his dear family to get him to go to the care place - I am so grateful for them convincing him to go. I hope you have a good day too!

it's funny - because of my dad's work and he (and d mom's) friends - it have found very wealthy people that I personally know have been the most caring giving people who did great things for others on a regular basis. (they had their families involved in volunteer work from an early age as well). I am sure there are people who are rich who don't do for others but everyone I had met were really remarkable individuals.

hi d dee! I hope tonight you have a wonderful and restful sleep! what a great son you have! praying for safe travels for him. I hope your Ds's rent doesn't go up that much.

hi d twins - I hope you get some individual time!!! you need some quiet time and you deserve it!!!

hope you all are having a great day!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

I hope your Ds's rent doesn't go up that much.
I'm hoping too, Blessed. Has me wondering if/when he'll say "enough is enough!" As it is he is now the longest resident here. Either 21 or 22 years. Dh is the longest employee. He's probably been working here since 2004 -at least. I'm betting it's going to go up at least $700-$900. We'll see how close I am. Supposedly there's a new way of calculating the square footage. Baseline is 3,600 square feet which is about our size lot. His is easily more than twice that. He's already paying several hundred more a year than we are because of his 'over-size' lot and water front.

My left foot has a 'zinger' going today on top of it that is driving me bonkers to say the least. That's partly why I didn't sleep last night. Just tried putting some A spercreme on it to see if that helps.

Lady M, can we ask at what # your BS needs to be before you can eat? I've been having too much sugary stuff today and know I'm nowhere near a number that I should have lunch yet.
