Guests are on the road home. Dh has gone to ds's to drop off something. I sent along unopened birthday cards (from 2 July) that were left here and a photo that dh had printed for ds from the wedding. He wanted to leave it here until he was moved, so now he's moved and it's out of my house. So many things in this house!

I downloaded a book last night and think I'll start reading. My focus was not great when I was upstairs.

Dee I saw your note yesterday about the upcoming holidays but don't remember where we list them. Can you direct me?

Lady M, can we ask at what # your BS needs to be before you can eat?

My number is 110 until it is adjusted tomorrow. When they start the class, they average 3 days of pre-meal readings to get the baseline number. Everyone in class has their own number. Then they continue to average pre-meal reading for a week to further adjust that number. They are cautious so the biggest change to baseline number that happens is .05% a week. I am expecting my number to be around 105 starting tomorrow.

Church was well attended and all around excellent this morning. The nursery was busting at the seams with littles but had excellent volunteers. I made sure there wasn't a nursery need before each service but was able to attend my class and church service.

DD11 selected the meat for today's meal and was eager to be the cook. I was in mentor mode while she did 99% of hands-on cooking. I asked her if she wanted to try two methods of cooking the steaks and she did. She cooked half in a cast iron skillet on top of the stove and the other half was cooked in the air fryer. We all voted the air fryer was the best cooking method. I filled the bread machine before leaving for church and it was ready for the meal.

DS13 has mowed and weedeated our back yard. I went with him to care for the pets and flowers at the two homes that are gone on vacation. He just killed a snake inside the shop while working on his dirt bike. He is a blur of motion and is rarely still.

I took a long nap I don't like it.
I think I need to take dh places to feel like we are busy outside of the house.I also would love a day where I am on my own in the house. I have an errand day this Thursday but I think I need to up my game for the rest of the summer to do things that are not work.

Someone sent a message to HRH last evening about midnight that they didn't want to alarm anyone, but somebody was about to give birth to George Jetson. lol.

Amazing that we pondered whether a child in our families born about now might have the amazing way of life the Jetsons had. Just goes to show we assumed great strides back when we were beginning to consider the "space age" - especially cartoon writers.

Enjoyed the sermon this morning. But otherwise it's been a cooped up day of wetness. Watched a Miss Marple mystery. Ordered vitamins.

We did go out last evening but ended up in a rainstorm on the way back. A real gully-washer. We were fine, but we were finding out how fast the windshield wipers would go, for sure.

Happy birthday, George Jetson! (I loved that show! I remember watching on Saturday mornings at my paternal grandparents' house. I usually spent Friday nights with them, and I loved to watch cartoons on their tv because they had a color tv before we did!)

That IS an awfully steep increase at one time, isn't it, Dee? Does inflation in general have something to do with it, or is it all the new management?
My goodness. I can't imagine what a (very small!) 3-bedroom, 2 bath house with attached carport would go for in your area. We are practically letting our renters live there for free in comparison! We get $300/month. We know we could get a LOT more, at least twice as much, based on what others charge around here, but these people have been here forever, and we didn't want to raise the rent from what dinlaws had been charging them. They do make a lot of improvements and repairs without asking us for any assistance, so that's good. They are an elderly couple and not in the best of health themselves. (Although the man mows our yard, for $100 each time, so basically, in the summer, they are paying only $100 rent. It's crazy. If they ever leave we will likely sell the house or turn it over to ds. DH does NOT want to be in the property rental business.)

Cathy, IKWYM about looking at the journals and planners. I can just get lost in that aisle. I want them ALL.

I am STILL stuck on wanting that fancy household chore planner I told y'all about a few years ago. And I KNOW I won't follow their plan and I would just be wasting my money on it, but I can NOT get it off my mind!

The Prayer Planner IS working out good for me, but it doesn't have all the "extras" in it -- the daily task list and seasonal chores, etc.

I am so tired I cannot believe it.
It has been a good weekend, and for the most part, the dgrands have been good... but I. am. exhausted.

Friday, we went with ds & the dgrands to the historical home nearby, only spent a couple hours there, but the second hour was outside and it was sooo hot and humid. I felt like my jeans and t-shirt were just sticking to me when we left. It was nice; we were only ones touring at the time so the guide took up a lot of time with us. But outdoors, there were about a million boxwood shrubs, and my allergies have really been acting up ever since.

Friday night dgrands were here and Saturday we got up and went to Nashville. I think Dee mentioned that Mr. Dee wouldn't want to make that long a drive anymore... well, it's less than 2.5 hours for us, but traffic was pretty heavy as we got into Nashville. It was their tax-free weekend, and Oh My Goodness. The traffic backed up onto the interstate at the Opry Mills mall. We took the less popular entry into sorta the back way to the Opry house and mall -- and it was busy, but nothing like the first exit from the interstate.
Then trying to eat was quite an ordeal -- 2 hour wait at every restaurant we tried. We decided to eat at the food truck in the Opry plaza -- just outside the Opry house itself.
The show was really good, though. Celebration of Barbara Mandrell's 50th anniversary as an Opry member. (She has been retired for approx 25 years, so in some ways, it was kinda odd. DH and I said it was kinda like having a 50th anniversary party for a couple who had been divorced 25 years, LOL. But OTOH, I liked all the performers, and it seemed that Barbara Mandrell had probably asked for certain people/friends to be the performers. Carrie Underwood was the big name -- and dh is not really a fan. He says "she just hollers," LOL. I admit, I have had to look up the lyrics to some of her songs because she does sing sooo fast and loud that sometimes it is almost a rap song. But I do like her a lot. DS and DDIl got to sit backstage once at an Opry performance, and she was there. They said she was VERY stand-offish, surrounded by body guards, etc, and did not mingle with the other performers at all. The Opry bills itself as one big family, but I suspect it has lost a lot of that atmosphere due to changes in management, etc, and I do respect her for showing up as much as she does. A lot of major stars who are members of the Opry seem to just show up very occasionally and it seems they just want the "title" of Opry member, but they really don't care to be involved with it so much.
ANYWAY -- Barbara did not perform. She came onstage at the end of the show to thank everyone and say a few words, but that was all.

So that was Saturday.
Church, piano lessons, Wmart, garbage out, allergy shots... normal Sunday... and dgrands have been here all day and will be here till around lunch time tomorrow. Then ddil is taking them to her brother to give us a break. We'll have them again for a few hours Tuesday because she has a class at work.
DS will get home around midnight tonight, and leave again around 7:00 a.m. in the morning. Then he'll get home Wed. morning.

We are planning dh's birthday party for Thursday. That is the ONLY day ds and ddil will both be home all week, except when ddil is sleeping, LOL.

I'm sorry if I've left out someone who really needed an acknowledgement tonight. DGD keeps coming in wanting to know how long I'm going to be here... dgs needs to take a shower... their room is a wreck... and I am just falling asleep in my tracks.
