Hello, all!

Am having a reasonably productive day. Got some wash done and some payroll done. Dfriend K has invited me and a couple other lady friends to come over and play a game this evening. I'm not sure if I will or not; it depends on if DH has anything planned or if I end up in the midst of something useful.

I didn't see the moon last night despite staying up too late. It was DH's guys' night. He went straight from work and got home late, so once he was home, there was much to tell, both of the work day and updates on how the guys were doing -- they had a full contingent, so there was much to tell. Apparently, they were telling airport/airplane stories -- one of the guys is a retired aircraft controller, so his stories had a different twist.

Time to get back to the payroll work. There was a paragraph hurting my brain, and it doesn't hurt any more, so time to try again!

I had lunch.
Glad I weeded before b/c it is thundering out now.
I got out my zoom class notes but decided against it also not going to town today.
I did clean as you go while I fixed my lunch brunch type food. Yummy!

I * think * my computer troubles are fixed. This was supposed to be a 15-30 minute process, but in the end, it involved over an hour yesterday on the phone, a visit from a technician today, another hour on the phone, another appt scheduled with a technician tomorrow -- and then -- finally -- it seemed to resolve itself and we canceled the appt tomorrow. :? SIGH. We still have some static/buzzing on the line, but IMHO, no more than we use a landline, we can live with this. It is beyond frustrating to talk to the phone company people. (The tech was very nice, but the people on the phone are sometimes hard to understand, and rather than have them call me back, I stayed on hold, so that was added a lot of time to the whole ordeal.)

Other than this -- I've accomplished nothing. DGD and I have played Pin the Tail on the Donkey tonight and baked a couple dozen cookies. That is no biggie -- we just took them out of the box in the freezer and laid them on the cookie sheets. (They are the Otis S... kind that the school sells every year.)

Dgrands seem happy with their new teachers and classes.

I saw the moon last night -- although there were some clouds. The moon through the clouds always makes me hear the theme to Dark Shadows in my head. (Do y'all remember that tv show?)

The countertops look very nice, Twins!
I wish I had some texture/something on mine. They are just plain off-white laminate, I guess, but I don't mind the material, and it has held up very well. But dmom's are a speckled sort of white with gold/brown/black flecks of something in them, and they don't show stains or anything like mine do -- and dmom's are 60 years old!!! DDIL's are very dark, grayish, and have a marble sort of look to them also.

LadyM -- I think you are doing an AMAZING job with ds14 and dd11, but I have to say I understand. DH and I are both generally VERY tidy, everything in its place types... and ds... oh. my. goodness. He is a piler/stacker... everything all over the place type. And then he went and married his twin, basically. I wonder if he may have developed this messiness as a rebellion to dh's OCD, actually. I am doing better at not mentioning it to them or offering suggestions or tips. If they can live in the disorganized chaos they do, well, so be it, I guess.

Waving to ALL!!! Hope you have a good weekend!!!
Tomorrow is another day.

In the "it's always something" Dept. my water system isn't working. I thought it was fine when we put the air in the tank. Tonight I went to make a pot of coffee and the water was coming out just fine until it wasn't. Just completely shut off. A check on its little faucet didn't show anything. Crawl under the sink, don't see anything there either. Since we haven't changed the 3 filters in a long long long time we decided maybe we should do that next. Showed DH where we had the filters he bought. He had no idea. I got all the paperwork out of the file and the big round specially-sized wrench. So we have 2 out of the 3 filters to use...have to buy the 3rd one.

We rode over to H.D. and they have one brand, not compatible. So we tried Lowe's, they have several brands, also not compatible. So we'll try the plumbing supply next if they are open tomorrow or maybe buy online. Pricey little things.

We're not even sure this will solve the problem. Hopefully it will. Our thinking is maybe we knocked something loose when we added pressure and clogged it up. I've been a bit worried about this problem for a while, not wanting to mention it. DH after looking at it all thinks we should call our plumber. He's changed them himself before, but doesn't remember how to do it. I sure don't know.

Recently it feels like there's too many problems, things to take care of, seems never ending and I feel endlessly tired and not wanting to deal with all this stuff. DH says he does too, welcome to old age.

YES. YES. I can't even begin to say how much I feel this, Harmony!!! And dh is just doubly so. At 71 and in poor health, he just CAN'T face any of it, and I don't know what is going to happen to this house. (And don't tell me to Just Do It, blessed... ;) I just can't do that. I can't deal with him if he's not 100% on board with any project going on around here.)
I'm pretty sure his shower is -- and has been -- leaking underneath the floor for YEARS, I'm just waiting for the whole shower to fall through to the subfloor...
The roof is still leaking and the drywall ceiling is falling...
Shutters need replacing...
Whole house needs painting, especially exterior porches...
Porch step railing needs work...
and there's more... always more...
Tomorrow is another day.
