National "Just because" Day Saturday PWYC

Post by CathyS »

Today is a day to "Do stuff just because..."

I know we all must have something like that on our minds that we want to do "just because".
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I'm sure I can come up with a few things.

So far today I have started a load of household laundry. Towels, facecloths, tea towels, and other things I found that dh tends to put aside because he thinks he might wear them again. The only thing I tend to let either one of us wear more than once would be blue jeans and jackets or heavier shirts that usually get worn over t shirts.

"Just because" -well, I have to, get groceries that is. No more putting it off till another day. This HAS to be it!.

Dh is working this morning, though I hope not very hard. Know he said last night that he barely could make it in the RV from the golf cart after his shower. He's so short of breath. 3 more sleeps and we can see our cardiologist. I've typed out a list of questions/concerns. Dh is pretty insistent that I go in with him this time. I do see him being somewhat confused from time to time and having to really think before he speaks. I'm sure it's the lack of oxygen he's getting. Though when he takes his oxygen with the finger meter it's right up near where it's supposed to be. We'll see I guess.

I am swearing off Free cell for 1 week -hold me to it. I realize I'm wasting too much time there. Might better be here checking in with my friends!

Going to pick up something while I'm out for dessert. Maybe cheesecake. I know the time to fix something will become short by the time I return home. Speaking of which guess I'd better finish the grocery list -just because! :D

Good morning!

Cathy- Thanks for the start today. I enjoyed reading about your meal last night and googled several of the dishes because they were unfamiliar to me. They all looked delicious!

It felt luxurious to sleep in this morning. FBit data confirmed my good sleep. 9 hours 30 minutes with a 92 sleep score.

DS14 is only working 2 hours today because his boss is out of town.

I tried an experiment of baking canned biscuits in the air fryer. I might have had beginners' luck, but it worked perfectly. The biscuits were baked in less than 10 minutes and turned golden brown on the outside and were fluffy on the inside. I like having an alternative to heating the kitchen up during summertime. I also made a skillet of scrambled eggs with meat and vegetables.

My draft PODA includes -
** DMIL to hair appt.
** cook beans, ham and cornbread
** take kids to a movie.

I have frozen biscuits, Lady M....wondering how they'd work in the air fryer.

Just finished talking with dd. She had a scratchy throat this morning and thought she had just an allergy/cold symptom. Dsonil went to a church that's open on Saturdays and she took a Covid test while he was gone. Well, it only took her a minute to call him to say he better come home. After all this time and being with students for what? almost 3 years? She now has Covid. She was hoping not to use any sick days but doesn't look like that'll be an option. At least it's before hockey season starts. She actually is keeping score for the Women's Pro league (forgot what it's called) next weekend in Wesley Chapel. They're even getting her a hotel room and paying her about $900 to do this. She is good at what she does, no doubt about it.

Dh stopped to see if I wanted corn for tomorrow -just a couple of ears. Said he'd already picked up a couple of tomatoes.

As we drove around last night I noticed that AT LONG LAST all the tall weeds along one of the pond fronts have finally been cut down. Have a feeling the new owners had something to do with that (why "hide your lamp under a bushel?") It's so beautiful. Hopefully it's forebearer of things to come. Know the loaders/tractors/bull dozers, etc, etc have been hard at work. The one pavilion was moved across the road and looks like it's always been where it is. Then the playground was moved into it's old spot. Next they've bulldozed around Boulder Hall and removed all the big boulders by it. They're also bulldozing a new spot for a 10,000 gallon tank for the new hot tub to be drained to every 2 weeks -then that will be pumped to a leach field across the road. Next they will be building that and a new pool. But then of course our rents have gone up a pretty good chunk. Not as bad as DS/DDIL's though -theirs went up $800 for the season -2nd highest in the park. Their neighbor went up $900. But ours I think I figured out comes to about $30/month higher if we figure 6 months. If you figure that's a year then it's only $15/month. Because 'rent fee' for storage for the winter is included in that. So we did okay so to speak.

Forgot to 'brag' on dh a little bit. The new owners requested of dcamp property manager to meet dh. (Former owner) They wanted to thank him (and praise him) for work he'd done for them. They've tried to keep a very low profile here but word is getting around that this is who they are. They have a permanent site in the new part and it's a little hard to miss.

today has been my sit on my bahookey day so far! 8-)

time to go to work but I couldn't help but say hello to all of you first! It's the best way to start the day!!!!

hello

I am trying to think in terms of
what little thing will make me feel like I am still moving forward.
what will keep me where I want to be at the moment without falling behind
what is making me fall behind and how can I adjust my house, garden and myself fix what's not working for me.
Be proud of what you have done in the past instead of always looking for the next thing. Pat yourself on the back for where you are right now. :D
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Always something to do...

Decluttered some in a bedroom closet, a couple of the kitchen cabinets too. Cleaned as I went along.

The mail has a bunch of stuff to do and I donwanna. I have 2 letters to answer, a statement to figure out, and desk to tidy. I'm not in the mood for any of this right now. We'll see. I did pay a bill.

That's it here so far. Maybe I'll get some pep if I eat something.

Dee - you are surrounded by an excellent group. I'm glad they recognize your DH years of effort and show appreciation of it.

My plan to take the kids to see a movie has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Neither kid is the slightest bit interested in going to a theatre to watch a movie. They both offered to go with me, so I didn't have to go alone. They didn't know that I'm not interested in going to the movie theatre either, I was just doing it because I thought they would like it.

Keeping DH in lazy mode is just as challenging as it has been in the past. DH isn't one to sit around and do nothing. My biggest concern is him doing anything to cause sweat since he has an open wound. It is 95F today so just being outside can cause sweat to happen.

We had 2 separate groups drop in this morning to visit. I am thankful the bedroom projects are finished so the living room is free of that stuff and returned to normal.

d harmony - isn't that true -
There is always something to do!

it's very sweet that they offered to go with you to see the movie - so sweet of you to want to take them even though you didn't have an interest in it either.
I know my dd's don't like going to movies like before. They would rather watch it on their computer or the tv.
praying you dh does paperwork or something that doesn't require going outside in the heat!
such a nice thing: returned to normal

hi d dee. praying your dd feels better!! I am so sorry she has covid!!!
the pond sounds beautiful - so happy the new owner took care of it.
How wonderful that dh was acknowledged and praised!!!

hi d Nancy! I am sure the d dog was so happy to be with you on the gas errand.
ooo another sewing project - fun!!!

hi d cathy - thank you again for starting us!!!
yay on working on your laundry!

have a great day everyone.
it is always a joy to be here with you!
