Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Good morning!
Thinking of Lynlee and hoping she can CI
After I left the CPA yesterday, my energy level was near zero and my brain said enough already! So, I stopped doing and took the rest of the day off....as much as possible while still monitoring & mentoring two kids. I thought I might be getting sick but I'm feeling fine today. #Thankful
Today PODA -
** 9:30 DH appt with family doctor.
** 10:00 Team cleaning
** Homeschool catch-up day with DS14
** Virtual public school for DD11. This virtual day is a sham to satisfy some government requirement because DD11 only has one paper to do. It will take her less than 5 minutes.

(((Nancy))))
DS14 and I had an intense conversation this morning. I am not pleased with DS14 continually volunteering DH for endless part-time jobs. DH has enough plates to keep spinning without DS14 adding to it. If DH wanted part time employment (he doesn't) then DH could easily obtain it. My message to DS14 is "stop volunteering Papa to do all these extra jobs!" DS14 thought he was doing DH a favor which makes it all the harder to get my message across to him. DS14 has no understanding why anyone would not want to work from sunup to sundown.
DS14 and I also had another intense conversation about taking food to his bedroom. He knows this is not to happen but does it anyway with his nighttime eating. It is a daily thing to take a half dozen bowls & cups out of his bedroom. Because he continues to do it, today I added a consequence....for each bowl & cup found in his bedroom then he is grounded a day....ie no going to work or playing with friends.
I am thankful that DS14 has a gentle giant personality with me. He is physically much taller and stronger than I am, but he never uses that ability to get his own way. We can have intense words, but I never fear him.
Last night I grounded DD11 because she had an attitude toward a teacher yesterday. DD11 didn't cross the line and get sent to the principal office but she did receive a strike and probably a zero (I'm not sure about the grade). DD11 and I had a conversation about the correct tone and response to be given to a teacher. This weekend we will be practicing DD11 giving her presentation. We will start with DD11 giving the presentation to her stuffies. Then she will give the presentation to Micro and Sam (the dogs). Then she will give the presentation to her rabbits. Then she will give it to Papa and me. I might recruit some friends for DD11 to practice giving the presentation. Will repetition help DD11 feel confident enough to get up in front of her class to give the presentation? I don't know. It is the only thing I can think of to try.
Raising kids is not always fun and games. Sometimes it is simply hard.
Next up = check homeschool assignments.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
I was trying to explain to dh last night how tired I feel a lot of mornings and how hard it is to get up. He says it's a choice. It is, in part, but I am retired so I don't have to be somewhere most days. And I've been trying to get an early start during construction so I would be up and dressed when they got here. I set my clock for eight this a.m. - don't have to be anywhere - and didn't get up until 8:45. OTOH, I'm reminded by a Facebook group for Trigeminal Neuralgia that gabapentin leaves a lot of people sleepy and slightly memory impaired. (I don't want to taper off and go through that pain again, however.)
When I'm fired up about genealogy work, that's a motivator to be up early so I can get upstairs. There's too many things crowding that out right now. Once I'm through the kitchen, the trip next week, and then Rosh Hashanah prep, I'll be back up there. I'd really like to set aside some time up there now.
We have the weekend home - dh is volunteering tomorrow and I'm watching a webinar for a couple of hours. I might squeeze in genealogy in the afternoon.
We went to get dh's play car last night and have it home in the driveway. He wants to haul off everything we can on Sunday to get the other side of the garage cleaned up so he can get that car into the far side of the garage. Garage cleaning with him is stressful - I think it feels like "my stuff" against "his stuff."
I need to get moving somehow.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Amen on the sentiment:
I have been thinking of d Lynn as well!
hi d lady! I am glad you took time off yesterday afternoon - your body and mind told you that you were tired. good for you on listening to your body! I wonder if your d son thinks he is helping dh - sharing what he does with him and not understanding that time is limited. I am sure your ds won't enjoy the new consequences but it will stop the dishes building up in the bathroom.
I love that you build your dd's confidence - what a great idea with the presentation.
(by the way I was told in 3rd grade to stop giving my teacher a dirty look- it changed my attitude. That look must have been pretty bad - my dad used to give us the "look" and I had the same look"
You are a very very good parent! Parenting does have hard times but you being who you are is making a difference in their life.
. I am always amazed at this age - up through 16 - that they see things from their own point of view and can't see how much others in their life. dd when 16 (at the time she thought she was the smartest) could not imagine how much of work dh and I did for her and in general. She just couldn't understand - "they think their thoughts are a fact." I heard this once about teens.
I actually thought having young adults would be the end of worry. Growing is hard at times.
hello d Nancy waving at you too! I m glad your knee is feeling better.
hope your allergies start behaving yourself.
hi d twins it's not a choice. You are tired when you wake up and it takes a bit to get into your day! Give yourself grace! Some days you will be raring to go and others will be good.
It's hard to be on your own time all the time. As a she I found that I am better with having a structure or responsibility outside my house. (problem for me is that I know I am not on a time schedule like I was). dd younger is the same. I find not having a set place to be or things I must do for others tends to help me move forward.
I pray that you don't have to deal with that pain again.
I know I can't do dh's right now thinking. Praying that this weekend your dh isnt' cleaning the garage. - what would happen if you have him just do his stuff. dh and I have split our garage in 2. he gets one side and I get the other side bc I am not good at him choosing my stuff instead of his.
okay it's 11:08 and I woke at 9:15 wow!!!! time to go back to cpap machine. I dislike it but it is necessary.
I have done nothing. Dogs are waiting!

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Homeschool is in progress. Spanish is done. OK history and Math are up next.
Team cleaning is in progress - The bathrooms have been cleaned and I cleaned the kitchen. I washed the exterior of kitchen cabinet doors and drawers, the vent hood, refrigerator, stove and microwave. I still need to sweep & mop the floors throughout the house and the kids have to clean their bedrooms.
Lunch is in progress. DH volunteered to get food from DFriends BBQ place. They have fantastic pinto beans so I'm all in on that meal idea. I have a menu plan and ingredients on hand for it, but my timing is off so the food is not ready to eat.
I miss RR posting. I am having ramblingrose withdraws.
Next up - finish updating homeschool assignments for the month of September.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
WTG on the confidence builder, Lady M.
Yes, I'm wondering about Rambling Rose as well. Last time she posted was last Saturday morning. Hoping everything is ok with her.
Dh and I are back from his Endoscopy at the hospital. He told them "I'm alright to walk to the car in the parking garage." Uh....no!! He was barely on his feet there. So they went for a wheelchair and asked if I would be able to take him. Uh...no to that too. So gal told me they'd meet me by the exit and off I went knowing I'd recognize dh. Didn't see them anywhere near the exit. Went out to the road & made a Uee to come back in. Went up by the front exit and they weren't there so went back in the garage and up and around to exit. Teller told me to go right through and I told him I couldn't find dh. "Take a right out of the garage and a quick left." Went up by the front again and then back into the garage -no dh. Teller told me once again to go out. Meantime the gal from the hospital called me (I had dh's phone so I knew he couldn't call me or vice/versa). "Where are you?" Told her and told me to meet them by the front entrance. Whew! Finally we were together.
The endoscopy went well. Evidently didn't find anything more than what's been there all along. (Barrett's Esophagus). So! STEP # 1 down. Next I will call the cardiologist's office just to let them know he's had the scope. The report will go to his GP so will send them an email to be sure they send the report on to the cardioilogist. Then I guess the next steps to getting him into the hospital for the cardioversion. But, I'm not sure if there'll have to be another scope to look at the heart from the inside. We were told they'd be able to see that on this scope but the gal from recovery told me otherwise. Just hoping we don't have to wait weeks again.
I stopped fairly quickly at the bakery (used to be about a mile from us) as it was pretty much on the way. We picked up 2 loaves of Amish bread, 1 peach pie day old, a carton of stuffed pepper soup (it was very good BTW), a bear claw for dh and a Bavarian cream for me. We have yet to eat those. First time we've ever bought donuts from there.
Had our soup for lunch but dh was having trouble staying awake for his. He's now sleeping and I hope he will for the next hour or two.
A workaholic in the making (For some time now) for sure!DS14 has no understanding why anyone would not want to work from sunup to sundown.

Just ci with everyone— from phone so it’s hard to keep up!
Glad Mr Dee is back home and resting.

Twins, IKWYM about waking up tired. It is always hard for me to get started. BUT — 3 in a row s2s before leaving bed/bathroom area!
On our way to College Town. Ds is with us again. That is such a huge help for me.
