Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
LadyM, I have that reaction to tax documents too. I still need to do our own, as dh has reminded me several times. That will come after RH, I think.
Looking ahead: I have four days after today before the out-of-town trip. Tuesday p.m. we'll drive to ATL and stay there overnight with our friends (her dd is getting married) and take an Uber to the airport. We'll get home late Sunday afternoon, and I'll have a week minus an evening to get ready for RH. (Services at temple for RH eve.)
DH came through and then went to Costco. I snapped at him - or that was his interpretation - about dd.
I am still trying to settle things in the kitchen. I need to devote some time to the DR and get it back to order too. I'm so distracted it's hard to work at any one thing right now.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Homeschool is finally done for the week. This week was a challenge to get it accomplished with everything else.
Next up - take a break and enjoy my noon coffee that is overdue.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
yay on homeschooling to be done this week.
d lady!
-----------
I am struggling to get started again. Time to push myself.
emptied old pots - the pot was root bound - I had to use a serrated knife to cut down to the bottom.
zone 1 has been watered this week.
one hour from now move hose to veg garden.
played with dogs.
It feels like 5:30 and it's only 4:10!

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
scratch taking a break, but I have been enjoying sipping the coffee.
After mentoring DS14 to clean his bedroom, he left for work.
I helped DD11 print her presentation so she can practice.
I showed DH how to download and update the software on his phone.
DGS25 has decided he wants to communicate with me after cutting me out of his life for the past couple of months. Now he is texting me all stressed out about starting a new job and can't pay his rent (tip of the iceberg). I assume DGS25 doesn't know that I have heard what he is doing through mutual friends. There are consequences for bad decisions. If this was a onetime mistake, then I would be inclined to rescue him. However, I can't see any upside to enabling DGS25 to keep making poor decisions and then running to me to pay his way out of them. #SorryNotSorry. #ToughLove

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Question - is anyone having problems getting to this website today? I'm not but I've heard others are.
I used an app to register & pay for DS14 and DD11 to attend a lock in next Friday night. That means DH and I will have a rare 12 hours together without kids!

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
d lady how nice that you all will have time together while the kids exhaust themselves out with all the fun that they will have! ay o
yay on mentoring him while he worked on his room
yay on getting the presentation printed.
it's true - there are consequences for all of us when it comes to bad decisions. I do wish I could have know what I know now when I was a teen and young adult. My mom was a constant rescuer and always felt she could do better - it wasn't good for me. its a good thing to learn from our mistakes. you sound like you have good friends. I will pray that he finds his way and sees that standing on ones own is a gift.
-------------------
When I didn't take responsibility or don't learn from my mistakes then I become a victim. It was a part of growing up that took me a long time to learn. It's good that I was caring and not selfish but It took me longer to learn and stand on my own two feet bc my dear mom constantly took over. (she meant well - and not liking the feeling of watching me fall - it made her uncomfortable. When I learned what was happening; I finally told my mom - thank you but I need to learn which was hard for her. I also stopped complaining to her bc I felt panicked that I had messed up. I stopped being the victim. I learned to be an adult from that moment.
----------------------
You are a blessing d lady! You remind me of my wise and loving mom in law - she was one of the best parents I have ever known.
dogs are sleeping again after running around!
I think I will make a garden journal/plan for the remainder of things that need to be done. I made a prospective garden journal -plan and to do list in winter/spring 2022 and I finished what was on the list.
okey dokey time to look at home de pot to see if I can order the compost and soil

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
We are here at the College Town condo. We’ve eaten, unpacked, and the dgrands are in the pool. So far we have it to ourselves and I am GLAD. Last week there were two other kids here and dgs was the oldest. I worried the whole time that he was bothering the others — playing like he was a shark, etc. Their grandmother said no, he wasn’t annoying them and she hoped we’d be back the next morning— but we didn’t make it back on Saturday because we slept late and left early for the game.
I still don’t feel good. Coughing and sinus congestion.
I also think I messed up in the teaching/mentoring area with ds. With an only child, it was so much faster and easier to do it myself that I never really TAUGHT him to clean, for example, or be organized, all that stuff I complain about in their housekeeping habits today. I wish I had had your example then, LadyM!
Anyway, I’m trying to relax tonight and just enjoy the change of scenery. Maybe the rain will hold off this weekend— last report was 70% tomorrow and 40% tomorrow night. Game is at 6:30 pm.
