Friday PWYC Do what you can
Do what you can with what you have.
Every one of us has different challenges and goals. Some days it is all we can do to cover minimum daily existence and other days we can exceed our expectations.
I heard from RR today and she is safe. ** Big sigh of relief** She is living the life of a pioneer with no electricity, no water, and no internet.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
LadyM: thanks for opening the village and giving us the update.
Today is the last day I can get out of my neighbourhood without a major challenge. Tomorrow the highway closes for 3 days. In the past, that's lead to 20 minute delays to go out of our little corner of the city onto a main road. Then the ongoing delays as everyone is trying to get across town with no route a good alternative to the 6 lane highway.
I'll go over to dd's and spend time with dgd3.75. And visit with dgs5.99999. I'll likely miss his birthday party tomorrow as I am babysitting dgs1.5 tomorrow and between the fact that it will take an hour or more to cross town, and the party is during nap time, it doesn't look like I'll be going. The presents are wrapped, just in case, but I'm not sure when he'll open them. His actual birthday is on Monday, dh isn't home until Friday so we were thinking of Sunday for a 'family' birthday party.
Dd has approved of a trip to the museum for dgd and I today so I have a plan for the day that doesn't involve extra trips across town (with lane closures in prep for the actual closure tonight, the highway is already badly backed up.)
Now to go get dressed and eat some breakfast. It is early for my breakfast but I don't know when or what I'll be eating again, that depends on the success of the haircut dgd is getting today.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
I had some quiet time this morning to plan next week homeschool lessons. It is absolutely vital to have every lesson planned in detail and posted on DS14 google calendar. Once those 28 lessons are planned then homeschool stress is reduced by 90%.
I am staying with DMIL this morning while DH and his siblings meet with funeral director to make group decisions, get those decisions documented and pay for everything.
Lunch will be from local BBQ place. I miss having a menu plan instead of just making last minute food decisions.
DD11 leaves at 2pm for her youth trip. They will be traveling in a van to Missouri, spend the night, have about 8 hours of events and then return tomorrow evening. Note to self - remember to get some spending money for her.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Glad to hear RR is safe!
I'm cleaning up for the cleaning lady. Dh has been unmotivated this week in the extreme, because the market is so "unhappy." He decided to take off today and had tentative plans to play golf but those fell through. When I told him that dcleaning lady was coming this a.m. he growled about it but decided to go out for coffee. Thank goodness! He's in quite the mood. Yesterday he came in and announced he was having a fire outside last night (still beautiful weather here) and was inviting friends over. I said I wanted to read tonight. He backed off of inviting them but later made a fire and I sat out there for a while with him and read. I don't know why he thinks that after entertaining so many on Monday that I'm ready to go again. And we're going to see these friends tonight anyway.
I need to go to grocery and then upstairs to desk to work. At five we're meeting friends for dinner then going to an outdoor bluegrass festival here. I bet Lucylee is aware of it. Weather is supposed to be clear tonight with clouds tomorrow. The rain from Ian will miss us.
What a whirlwind trip for dd LadyM. I hope things go well at funeral home for your dh and his siblings. Difficult and emotion loaded decisions.
Kathryn, so good to hear that you're spending time with dgrands. They're growing up and it's so good you're involved with them.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
yesterday a friend's father arrived at my mom's and dd Youngers condo. He left Sanibel before the bridge went out. He then got caught in the flood in his car with water up to his neck - he held his cat above him. He also has ms and can't walk well. Teens rescued him and took him to fort Meyers hospital. dd younger got a call to say the dad was standing outside Fort Myers hospital as they couldn't keep him as the hospital was filled. They had him in the hospital er waiting room for 12 hours. He hadn't slept for days. They found someone to drive him as dd couldn't drive into fort Meyers bc of road blockages and couldn't leave mom. Dd made him a bed - as soon as he came she got him cleaned up and gave him water and food (also for the cat). Both exhausted.
He slept all evening.
the building is getting together and sharing food. Some had electric fryers etc. that doesn't work in their apartments but bc of the generator the hall and certain areas have power for now. They are meeting for breakfast and dinner.
They are checking the a/c's for the building but they think they got ripped off the top of the building.
They are lucky!!!! Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva etc. have been hit hard.
Dd is sad now - she sees there is so much she wants to do to help but can't leave mom. I keep telling her that she is helping the man and mom and the people in her building. - she is cooking for them as well.
praying for all in Florida and the other areas that are being hit by Ian.

So happy to hear that rr is safe! has anyone heard from everyone else?!
d Kathryn what a joy to see you!!! have fun with your grandchildren!
d lady thank you so much for starting us!
I am thinking of your d mil, your dh and all the family!
praying your daughter enjoys her trip
d twins hello
oh my - my dh goes through this as well. I have to remind dh the market goes up and goes down.
I thought my dh was the only one who growls about the cleaning lady coming. I am thrilled when they come.
I am glad he didn't invite others -and that you got a chance to read by the fire!

I suddenly started yawning and was just worn out at the grocery. May be a slight reaction to COVID shot? I'm going to nap. Just feeling drained right now. I gave dh a heads up for when he comes in so he won't come in all noisy hopefully.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
Just CI. I am a real bear today. Guess that's what happens with less than 4 hours sleep over the last 2 nights.
Just trying to keep my eyes open and working on whatever the 'next' thing is. Just made dh's lunch and then I'm going back down to the laundry building to put our 2 LOL in the dryers. That'll give me another hour before I walk back down there. Could take the car but it's too much trouble getting laundry in/out of there. Dh has the golf cart (as well he should).
Think I'm suddenly feeling overwhelmed with how much that has to be done in the next 3 1/2 weeks. We have appointments up the yazoo and events figured in as well. Think I'm also feeling some 'survivor's guilt' as I'm sure many in FL are when they know how they escaped what so many others are experiencing. DD never lost power. Her GFI did kick off and they didn't realize it so things were getting warm in her fridge overnight. They had branches and some big limbs come down, plus the part of the tree across the street that landed in the road and on their lawn. They did have one big limb come down from the oak tree out back onto their 45' shed and that did some damage to the side/roof. But they count themselves lucky. They took Dbil back home today and a lot of his property is under water. Not sure what other damage he had -haven't asked dh. But compared to the coastal regions they're good!
Kudos to your DD, Blessed. You tell her for us that she's doing more than her share doing what she's doing! So glad she could help this man.
Ok, I'm off to the laundry room. Thought I'd wait for dh to come in for his lunch so I could use the cart, but he's late and I know the washers are all full so need to get mine moved.

Re: Friday PWYC Do what you can
I slept more last nite, very slight temp. Just above normal & under 99*.
Went back to bed till 8:00.
Had soup in crock pot cooking on the deck.
Noon CI ~
Weather is cool and I did not exercise & had a low mood.
Temp. is my regular below normal.
Soup for lunch was great!
The ddog approved of crock pot cooking on the deck.
Processed the mail.
Did not do the sheets this morning.
Finished the net flicks series I was watching.
