Monday PWYC
It's Monday in the village - a new start for a new week! What's happening?

Re: Monday PWYC
The reason we've been missing her is a new job (good news - she's pleased), which has meant an increased schedule without ability to check online through the day. Her commute is better, though. She hopes to be able to get back to see us and says she misses the village. She sent her dd off to college, btw.

Re: Monday PWYC
Good morning!
That is fantastic news from Elizabeth! Thanks for sharing, Harriet.
I'm following SHE cards today because I don't have a lot of extra brain space. I am at near max compacity IYKWIM. Thankfully there is no drama happening, so it is just a matter of keeping all the plates spinning to cover the basics. Life continues = Kids schooling, everyone fed and watered, etc.
I've texted and talked to half a dozen friends and family this morning. In the past 24 hours there have been several people come to say their last goodbyes to DMIL. DMIL is not aware of what is happening 99% of the time. The hospice nurses have been outstanding in their support, advice and response to any request or question. My main focus is to make sure DH takes care of himself = eating so his blood sugar doesn't go haywire, staying hydrated so he doesn't get another kidney stone, keeping CPAP with him in case he gets a chance for a nap, etc. I'm waiting now for DH to finish meeting with hospice nurses then I'm going to offer to go get DH and bring him home to take shower. I want to minimize DH driving because he has been up all night and is running on adrenaline/emotions.
Next up -
** check on DS14 progress in doing homeschool assignments
** cook spaghetti and meat sauce so there is food available for the kids.

LadyM: don't forget to put on your own 'oxygen mask' while you are busy taking care of dh. And I remember what a comfort the SHE cards were when I went through the deaths of my parents.
My alarm woke me for the first time in ages and it took another hour to get out of bed. I think the extra weight of the blankets helped.
I did a ton of zone work in the office yesterday (taking advantage of dh being away.) Still have to dust the wall of bookcase shelves, but the rest got done.
Because the bed was done yesterday, today should be more productive but I'm looking around for the BGS as I'm still on the computer. Got distracted.
Our bivalent vaccine is geared for BA.1, not BA.5 and our appointment is next week. Given the news on the BQ.1.1, I'm now casting about for advice on whether I should do a border run to get the BA.5 shot from upstate NY instead. If I go ahead with the 'older' shot, I shouldn't get the more relevant one for at least 4 months, so if the later one is approved in under 4 months (it is currently in for approval), then I'm screwed. And if BQ.1.1 takes off the way the original Omicron did last year, I'm really screwed. I'm still working towards not getting Covid through a combination of mask wearing, limiting contacts and vaccination. If I get a sub-prime vaccine then I have to increase the isolation in order to avoid getting sick.
No-one in our family has yet tested positive for Covid. Ds confided he tests very regularly (between outbreaks at work, plus whenever he has a symptom) because he's living life fairly fully and doesn't want to infect anyone by accident. Still hasn't tested positive (which is why I believe in masking to protect myself, since he works in hospital ERs and has had outbreaks among his colleagues but never got ill himself.) I keep thinking that if I keep doing my 4 point approach (the 4th item I do is ventilation), I might manage to avoid it. Of course, the odds are very good dh will get it with his travel and pass it along to me since I don't mask at home.
Hmmmm, I just realized that dh is back on Friday and dgs6's family party is either Sunday or Monday, but that's within 5 days of dh's return. Normally, dh can only see dd's kids outside for at least 5 days after he's been traveling.
First washer load is done, so I'm going to go start the next load and hang this one up to dry.
Then start in on the vacuuming and dusting. I have a good book to listen to while I work.

Re: Monday PWYC
That makes me so happy that we have heard from Elizabeth! Happy dance! And a new job to boot!
And turning to LadyM...brings make memories of my dmom passing, although not as prolonged perhaps as LadyM's dmil. Prayers for nurses and all the family. The hospice nurses were outstanding, and I'm so glad you're receiving that support.
I'm having brunch, and the plumber is at work in the garage. I'm trying to stay close, will head upstairs when he's all done. A.m. routine done.
Kathryn, I don't know if you looked in but I had COVID in June after an out of town wedding. I wore the mask on the airplane and shuttles, but got it from someone from here that we were sitting with at the reception. (That's my opinion - they were positive the day after we got home when I wasn't but had symptoms.) I went upstairs for the duration and dh, who also sat with these people, never had it
Repeating Katheryn's wise words:
We're eating out tonight - eggplant parm night at my favorite neighborhood restaurant.

d lady good morning! No drama is a good thing d lady!
d lady I am praying for your d mil, dh and d family! I am thinking of you! My heart is with you!
hello everyone!
Yesterday was a mishmash day of helping dd younger through stress and emotions. I don't think everyone is grasping that mom's dementia is worse right now. dd would love her to go to adult day care but mom would never go. I am thinking retirement village. Mom will hate it though.
so praying for a good day for everyone.

Re: Monday PWYC
spoke to my brother - he is now in Kentucky.
dd younger said someone stole her friends 30' motor boat and trailer from the front of their house bc no one can live in the house right now. 30' - I don't get these type of people. The good: there are the helpers that make the good in the world.

Re: Monday PWYC
So happy to hear Elizabeth is okay.
Sad news around here... an ex co-worker died of cancer yesterday. She was a wonderful person to work with. One of very few that I kept in touch with on FBook. No sooner had I read of her death, I saw that someone dh knows died "suddenly" yesterday as well. Between now and Canadian Thanksgiving next Monday, we might have 2 funerals to go to. My MIL's birthday is also between now and then. Sigh...
Supper tonight will be ham and something, maybe mac and cheese from a box. Haven't decided yet.
Sorry to hear about LordM's mother being close to death. (((LadyM)))
