Thinking about you and your whole family, Lady M. Know this is one of the hard parts of life. Our sister-in-law in CA is also very near death. She's in hospice within the assisted living where she's been the last 2 or 3 years. Dnieces had written asking us to send pics for a video. Unfortunately they're all in Fl and not sure I know where to tell DD to look for them and send copies -if she even has time. After a week off from school she's back today but I don't think the kiddos are back yet.

Harriet, thank you for posting about Elizabeth. I've thought of her often and in fact was thinking of her just this morning wondering what had happened to her. So, good to know things are going well for her and certainly understand her being unable to get here. Her last posting ended so abruptly I was afraid something bad had happened.

I've been trying to catch up on loose ends around here. Found I was very sore/lame this morning after all yesterday's activity. Put my meds up for 2 weeks, now am going to work on dh's for the next 3. We're almost breathing a sigh of relief here. He has just 3 more days of this medicine regime for his infection. Still waiting for the requisition for his testing in another 4 weeks though. That'll have to be done in FL.

I still plan to fly out at 1:45pm on October 29th. DD's trying to get a flight up for Dsonil -gets here at 2pm on the 29th. What we're hoping is that dh can take me to the airport and then wait for dsonil to get in. At that point their hope is to simply start heading south toward FL. It'll be the earliest dh has gone south is a lot of years. First time he's not hanging around to shut down the water around the whole campground. He only discovered today after YEARS that there's a valve to turn off all the sprinklers in our Rec hall. They've turned them all off individually every year after the Pub closes.

d dee - I am also thinking of your d sil, your dh and the whole family! Such a hard time!

I have to admit that my d mom is not easy to talk to now. She can be judgmental and mean and then can be funny or loving. She will never be what you think a "mom" or "grandma" should be. Right now... ooo la la! She doesn't see her own flaws or her own dementia moments but is so so hard on everyone else if they have moments or their body doesn't work well. No humble moments. I will appreciate the good and funny parts. My goodness - God bless dd younger for dealing with it.

I did dishes spiffed up the living room dog hair got taken care of then I walked.
Sipping some tea while I type this & have lunch leftovers.

(Bw2) I know what you man about mom not being easy to talk to.

Testing out my voice sort of back no high notes and a crack every so often lol.
I will have juice again in a while.
Might be the first time I have lost my voice.
Did some knitting.

Had a break. Got the planters already emptied out rounded up and most are in the plant cage, as well as sprinklers,
cushions on the patio furniture, I did not even use em this year. Bucket lawn chairs are now in the carport also.
I left out the hoses on intentionally for a while longer. Feels like I actually did something!

bw2, the stress of the storm and the changes to her environment probably exacerbate the dementia. Your dd is a saint!

Laundry is done, office dusting is done, bedrooms and living room are dusted but the dining room dusting and the vacuuming all need to be done.

This should take less than an hour if I can move steadily.

I also pulled out the drawers missing pulls on my jewelry chest and am attempting a repair of that (the bolt the pull screws onto is not accessible from the inside and keeps sliding back into its hole.) And I plugged in and tested the colour laser printer, which, much to my surprise, appears to work. Printed off a pic of dgs6 to put on one of the gifts as a name tag.

filled pool with water for dogs as it's warm
now for filling the bird bath

dd younger had to tell mom that she can leave if she continued beings so mean - I don't like those tactics but it's the only way mom changes her tune. It's not used often but when she gets super mean then it's time. Mom wants her to stay and dd wouldn't leave her no matter how mean she gets but dd must have had enough.

I have to see if I can find a laundry mat that is open for them.

Homeschool is done for today. I switched DS14 to a different curriculum in his computer technology class. I have high hopes Webucator will be a good fit for his learning style.

We had a bit of excitement this morning. DSisIL was staying with DMIL and called to say she heard a POP then smelt rubber or electrical burning smell and saw smoke in the laundry room. DSisIL couldn't find the source and just started unplugging things. DH, DS14 and I jumped in vehicle and drove those 9 miles as fast as could. When we arrived, the smoke had spread to all the room in DMIL tiny home but wasn't getting worse. DBroIL arrived and started plugging things back in as his method of troubleshooting. DMIL never roused as we checked every inch of her home. Our best guess is the washing machine belt or motor got stuck and burned. It was a scary few moments and I was fearful we would have to scoop DMIL up and carry her out of a burning home. I had started to mentally make quick plans where to take her. I am thankful it ended okay and hopefully will stay that way. We just need her home to be a safe place for another couple of days.

DH was able to get 3 hours of good sleep this afternoon. He is awake now and tracking down the morphine prescription that was supposed to be delivered to our home for DMIL.

I'm going to get DD11 from school and then get her started on the two book summaries that are due on Thursday. She has activities the next 2 nights so the book reports must be finished tonight.
