((((Harmony)))) You are definitely not whining. What you are experiencing is hard and hopefully once in a lifetime challenges.

My longest time with no electricity was 13 days after we had a huge ice storm that took out most of the electrical lines/poles. After the first few days we learned new ways of getting basic needs met and it started to become normal. It is weird how that can happen. The only public place with electricity was the hospital in the city (it was being run on generators) so we sat in the hospital waiting room to charge our devices every couple of days. We used our kitchen stove (natural gas) to heat 3 rooms in the house and shut the rest of the house off. We slept in sleeping bags in the living room. Now a decade later, that traumatic & challenging 13 days have a little bit of fond memories just because we made it through it. I would not want to go through it again! ((((Hugs)))) as you get through these challenges days.

DH and I have put ourselves into slow mode because we can tell we aren't thinking clearly. We are intentionally doing as little as possible. DH is taking his second nap of the day. I realized about noon that today is Friday. I thought today was Saturday even though I looked at the calendar. Things just aren't clicking in my head like normal. I took the kids to the local BBQ to get them lunch. Our refrigerator is full of ready to eat food, but it seems too much to make even the smallest decision. Getting takeout food for the kids seems easier than preparing a plate from food we have on hand.

You're not whining, Harmony, just stating life as it is right now. There is a rainbow out there -somewhere! Dh's boss just got back from his trip to your area. He flew down shortly before Ian hit -his place is about a block off the intercoastal in Englewood. So he's been down there for well over a week. Not sure but figure he didn't stay in his house during the hurricane -have to ask dh.

We're going out in a couple of hours to a surprise birthday party for the mother of one of our neighbors. We're all paying our own way at the Italian/American Club in Rochester. Guess it's her favorite place to go. We've never been. Friends from here are picking us up at 6 so we don't have to drive in the dark. Hard getting to this age I'm afraid.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Thank you everyone, but I know I'm in a whiny mood.

Several crews showed up and looked at the trees on our lines and said nope maybe live wires and they left. Our generator is running every 3hrs but our main lines are shut off. So they wouldn't be getting any power back to the line from us. I can't vouch for anybody else.

I cleaned and got my bedroom put back to rights. I scrubbed bathroom. Won't tell you what I think went on in there when we couldn't flush. Thank goodness for Clorox.

My little load of clothes I hand washed today dried. Clean clothes for tomorrow.

Power co. Announced they got 98 percent of the county up and running. We're the lucky 2 percent.

DH and neighbor flagged down an electric crew driving by the main road. They came and looked and got some workers started. There's still a little hope. We 've had the hot water tank on for a bit. I might get a tepid shower tonight.

Back again. We are 10 days in so far. If LadyM made it 13 days and has some good memories I guess I can make it a little longer.

Good thing is DD called and I asked my question about my phone. She had me send a screen shot of my problem - something else I've never done - and she told me what to do. Duh. Easy, just something that never came up before and I just couldn't get anybody to tell me today. Now I will be able to make my phone calls tomorrow. Sheesh. Wrong time to learn new stuff.

My house is all electric, except for the propane grill. I heated up a can of soup for dinner. Shower sure felt good. Can't wait to stretch out in bed. We both have clean sheets tonight. I've been sleeping on the love seat.

See ya later.

((Harmony and the lucky 2 percent.))

Hurry for small loads of wash, for stretching out in a bed.

I only know of one completely downed and scary power line(s) still down in our area and it looks like it doesn't affect a lot of houses, but who knows. There's such a tree over it - a complicated giant. I don't see how some people are getting in and out of there, but maybe I'm not seeing it right or perhaps two ways in, not sure. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to have hit anything more than the lines, other trees and fencing. looks like the situation needs an engineer. :ugeek: Perhaps one would help Harmony.

I think it was only internet that Ramblin' was without at this point.

Went out with dd42 and youngest to get gas in cans for mower. Trouble with the gas pump. The fellow on the other side had trouble, too, so I struck up a conversation, of course. Dd and he together were able to figure out what was wrong just before he headed to cashier to tell about it. So I was helpful. (smile) Also I had a baby-wipe in a baggie when her hands got a little smelly. I was on my game like my aunts used to be -
