Re: Sat. Successes!
Hello, Nancy. Are you completely well?
I hope to have a success as I take care of ds' children today! Will be thinking of fun things to do.
Hoping those affected by weather can check in further.
Hoping those affected by family health can, too.
I'm sure many things are going on in LadyM's extended family - thinking of them.

Re: Sat. Successes!
Lots going on around us here. Chain saw work all morning up in back of us big trees all over our lines. Now they're up a lot of two as they uncover the wires. Trucks back and forth up and down the street. Maybe they'll get the electric crew here next.
Campfire coffee this morning and some lunch on the porch. I had raked and piled a big pile of stuff right next to us and a worker came by and kicked it all apart to back a big truck in there. Oh well.

Nancy - Thanks for the start today. BWTG on your meal prep and planning.
We have water falling from the sky! Not much, but any amount is welcomed. I went outside playing in the garden while it is sprinkling but it wasn't raining enough to get my clothes or hair wet. I saw a report that said my area is dryer this year than in the 1930 dust bowl days. I hope the trees make it through the harsh summer we had. In an effort to save the trees near our home, I have left the water running 24/7 for months. I move the water hose to a different location every few hours. I probably won't know until next spring if it was enough to keep the trees from dying from extreme heat and drought. Hopefully we won't have another summer like this one anytime soon.
We had family drop by our home this morning and DH has spent a couple hours on the phone talking to various cousins. We went to the funeral home this morning and saw DMIL (open casket). The funeral home will host visitation today and tomorrow. Her service is Monday @10. I don't have a head count for who will be here this weekend, and/or how many will be spending the night with us. I'm just going to let it play out.

We just got back from the landfill. I had to get rid of a beautiful Chinese rug that I've had for many, many years. I moved some stuff around in the library this morning and there was some dirt on the rug under where my chair was, so I started vacuuming and one corner of the rug started falling apart. It was a wool rug. I've already ordered a new rug from A river that will be delivered tomorrow. Right now the library is a mess because I still have to vacuum where the rug used to be, so stuff that was behind my recliner has all been moved around. The new rug is a 4 foot circle. I measured before I added it to my cart to make sure it would fit.
I also did a load of dishes in the dish washer this morning and dried a load of clothes. While the dishwasher was going, I zipped up to a local grocery store for canned cat food and 3 kinds of cheese. I am making stuffed shells tomorrow and I needed ricotta and mozzarella for those, plus I use marbled cheese in the scalloped potatoes and I used up the last of that for the fajitas we had last night.
We are going out for Chinese food after I get home from "knitting".

Re: Sat. Successes!
Thoughts and hugs are out to you, Lady M, as you and your family go through the next few days. Am sure your dh is simply working on adrenaline at the moment and then will come the 'crash' and hopefully sleep.
We went to the birthday party for dfriends's Mom last night at the Italian/American Club in the city. Had no idea what to expect. Guess this is her favorite place to go so her dd decided it was the best place to hold her celebration of 80 years. It's actually a 'club' so there was their monthly meeting first. Then dinner -first there were hordeurves, then the first course of course was pasta, after that: salad, baked potato/toppings, baked fish, Italian green beans (yum). Followed by cream puffs and we already had pieces of bundt rum cake and pieces of the huge birthday cake. Luckily my BS was still only 85 this morning. I'm good with that.
I slept off and on last night. After tossing and turning from 1-3 I came out and slept in my recliner. Good call. Got up around 7 and took my Thyroid med and went back to bed. Slept until 10:15. My fit bit says I got 6 hours/49 minutes. I'll take it -after only 4 hours/35 minutes total for the previous 2 nights. So, I'm just not pushing it today.
Dh did say a while ago: "The more I think about it I think this will be my last year" (doing winterizations.) It's a good pay stash, but his health is more important. He has a guy helping him and he will probably take it over next year.

Re: Sat. Successes!
Just waving at everyone.
This stomach virus ain’t no joke. Dgd was sick Wed., dgs Thurs., and it hit me Fri. morning. Dgrands bounced back almost immediately, but I’m still feeling rough. No throwing up, though, so that’s something to be thankful for!
I had sooo much I wanted to get done this weekend… first time in 5 weeks we’ve been home for the weekend. Also, we are child-free tonight, and I don’t know WHEN that has last happened on a Saturday! I need to do sooo much here!
Maybe the Lord is just telling me, nah, you need to rest.

Re: Sat. Successes!
I am mending but sound better than the neighbor that headed out for kid baseball stuff.
Cough sounded like what I had.
Round 1 done the stuffed acorn squash is out of the oven and cooling now. I cut it into portions to freeze some up.
I have went to the market needed two things, then a yard sale got cake pans they are in use now,
not for cake how ever smaller batches of chicken the pans have the thing that goes around to release cake rolls or whatever ,
mom used to have these. I was just thinking the other day I could use some. Score!
Round two has 2 crock pots going and the oven, small crock pot has pork in it,
large crock has chicken legs and thighs in it, legs & thighs in oven also.
The house smells amazing ranch chicken today.
Later I will prep. diab. friendly meat pie & shepherds pie, and hand pies.
I cut up wrap shells to dry for noodles and dog treats.
Walked the dog after starting this round of meats.
Note to self I need the middle size crock pot.

Re: Sat. Successes!
hello
it's been a very busy morning here in my house.
ran to Home Depot
the young man who has helped me in the garden this summer was here very early. Thank goodness I asked if he could come.
-- he cleaned up my pumpkin/corn area. He was able to take it all with him. I bought more bricks but not the ones I needed - its all temporary until I am a wealthy woman
to put a Lannon stone -or fond du lac stone wall around the veg/flower garden.
I would also love a stone wall in the back of my property as well. Ah to dream.
he is cleaning out my reg. veg area - making this one smaller -and putting the bags of compost and soil /worm castings in that area/brick surround so that next year I will be able to plant earlier next spring. (God willing).
went to garden shop but the bushes I wanted are gone -
got a coffee
I had gotten both dd's an online cooking class -nice thing is that they could see each other even though they are states away. - cupcakes - lots and lots of work - I came to dd (born organized) fretting away bc she couldn't keep up with the lessons and washing the dishes for the next cupcake. Once I helped then she was able to keep up with the lesson.
Delicious frosted cupcakes!!!
I would like to do more sister activities for the two of them (online) as they have been chatting and laughing all morning - and they are still talking!
okey dokey -
I will work upstairs even though the outside is calling me.
dd worries that I will try to keep up with the young man until I am exhausted
I wish I could let the dogs run.
I need to motivate myself to get into dd Youngers old room.

Re: Sat. Successes!
Is anyone here (or perhaps parents/grandparents) on Eliquis. Dh has been 'complaining' of itching which is only becoming worse. I looked online and couldn't find that as a symptom of any of the new meds he's been taking. But then I found the sheet that came with his Eliquis and it does mention a "rare" side effect of itching/hives. No hives but the itching is pretty intense on his arms and back. I see no signs of poison ivy or anything. Trying to get to the bottom of this before calling his cardiologist next week. He has been quite hoarse and somewhat of a sore throat for a while. I did finally see 'losing voice' as one of the side effects of one of the antibiotics he's been taking the last two weeks. (He finished this regimen Thursday night and he says he doesn't have the sore throat though still a little hoarse -so maybe that was it for that symptom)> Meds
Nice compliments for your dds, Blessed. Sounds like a win/win!
I just saw a picture of those on FB the other day, Nancy. I'm pretty sure I used to have some too and definitely I remember them and using them at DMom's so many years ago.the pans have the thing that goes around to release cake rolls or whatever ,
