I used our new bread machine and made a loaf of bread, which is still doing it's thing. Then I made vanilla ice cream with our new ice cream maker that was an early Christmas gift to each other. (I didn't really want it but dh persisted...) and stuck it in the freezer. It will be ready in 24 hours. We will have it with our pumpkin pie tomorrow night. Then I made stuffed shells. The jumbo shells cooked while I was doing the other stuff, so they could cool down enough to be handled. Then I mixed up the ricotta and egg and parmesan. Let that sit for a bit while I made the meat sauce. Half the sauce goes under the shells and the rest goes over them. While that was cooking, I stuffed the shells with the cheese mixture. Now it's all ready to go into the oven, which I will do in an hour. The bread should be ready to eat by the time the shells come out of the oven.

I'm exhausted. The kitchen looks messy, but it's under control. Dh has asked if I'm putting a load of laundry on tonight because he needs pants.

I walked the dog.
I made up some practice hand pies for the ddog they are in the oven now.
My kitchen needs a bit of a spiff, I am deciding if I want to mix up the dough for the batch for tomorrow.
I am going to try making up some each day till I figure out what I am doing!
ddog approves of her pies I cut in 1" squares. Froze half.

I have made my quota of 2 granny squares for today. Knit a couple of rows.
Brought up the vest to cut out that will be later.
Had lunch.

Good afternoon!

Visited my DM and got home just in time to take DC. Realized at that point that I’d left my purse at the nursing home, but there wasn’t really time to go back and get it. I was uncomfortable driving without it, but I took DC to their play, then went back and got the purse. My phone rang with a call from the nursing home literally as I was pulling into the parking lot there. I answered it and said, “You’ve got my purse; I just got here!” The desk clerk told me to pull up to the doors, and she had someone run it out to me. I didn’t even have to get out of the car!

Harriet, our fandom is not really wide-ranging — we live spitting distance from Cleveland proper. But lacking anyone currently playing sports, we have to make do with the professionals!

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for the Floridians. blessed, how are your DM and DD younger doing?

Good luck to Twins with all the furniture moving! What are the chances your DH actually thought of what to do with the credenza contents?

I should have a bite to eat. I’ve been nibbling at candy; I should nibble at something a bit more healthy. (Those stuffed shells sound appetizing, Cathy!) Then I think I’ll get a wash started — something with some of my clothes in it.

after months of having dd Youngers room a catch all; I have finally started going through it. I tossed 2 bags of dd Youngers old cloths that the cats ruined. she has not been home since December. Dd older said it be be better to get her a couple warm things to wear that are new but I will say the guilt always gets to me. I have gone through her things for 3 years now and I have decided to keep everything in this room at a minimum as I can't do this washing etc. anymore.
I hope she will be okay. I want her to feel like she belongs here without the overwhelming stuff.

Could be simple "preoccupation" that happens to everyone, LadyM. We realize there is a priority of importance (such as loss of loved one), and have a hard time setting the profound aside to get the day-to-day done, even if the day-to-day is what's keeping us afloat! I have often thought preoccupation is sort of like guilt, or at least worry I might not be caring enough. I think to myself: how could I possibly consider the ordinary when the profound is happening - wouldn't that be "bad". And then, later, I snap out of it and realize I've been thinking about the profound so intently I've forgotten to eat. Even though I know I need to shake off the fog, I always take a while to get there, so maybe it's just natural for me.

Anyway, I certainly proclaim you normal, for what my opinion is worth.

The online church service today was very sweet, the sermon was kind. It was about a homecoming queen in a well-to-do community who wanted to become a missionary, and met with much obstruction from people in her life who wanted her to stay the same beautiful, protected, cloistered person instead. She left anyway. In a book later, she likened her life to the Velveteen Rabbit, who became real only after being needed, worn.

Had also been able to attend virtually a prayer meeting last evening.

Signed up for a virtual panel on Thursday, but didn't send in a question. I felt like others probably had long-held hopes of their questions being answered, while I don't need to think up some clever addition - just get out of the way and learn something.

When I posted earlier I had forgotten (conveniently) that I still need to do our tax return. And I need to get what tax info we have for dd to her. The extended due date is a week from tomorrow. So I'm mostly gotten ours done. The worst part is charitable contributions because we make a lot of small ones and it's a pain to go through and summarize. Have to be aware because there are duplicates, sometimes triplicates, for some. I do think I'm missing a form for dh and hopefully he can get it for me tomorrow.

Besides playing on the computer, I actually did some dishes. Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and the dish rack. Washed all of the tiny things like measuring spoons and whisks and I also did 2 large mixing bowls. All that is left is 2 frying pans that dh dirtied yesterday morning. They aren't really non-stick, so is soaking. I think I can get them done before I go to bed tonight. I also have the pasta pot. Other than that, the kitchen looks so much better. I can smell the bread baking... I looked in the viewing window and the bread is pressing right up against the window. I hope it's mostly edible.

Was just figuring our laundry for the remainder of the season. Think I have it figured out. Just found out tonight that the laundry room will be closing at 4pm on Oct 23rd -Sunday. So I think I have it all figured out. Dh usually takes it down and gets it in before anyone else gets there. By then most of the rest will be closed out and gone anyway. Just have to figure our clothes so we have enough till the end of the year. The water to the campground will be turned off around 4pm on Wednesday, the 26th. We plan to leave here by 11am on the 29th. My flight for FL leaves at 1:45 and dsonil will arrive at the airport at 2 o'clock. So dh will only have to wait for him just a short time between flights -that's supposing that everything is on time.

LadyM, I get the slow brain thing. Right now I'm having trouble putting 2 things together up there.

I don't know if I've ever been this tired before. Probably, just don't remember.

It looked like it would rain, and that seemed disturbing to me. I hope I don't have PTSD over this storm. Surely not, I will get used to 'normal' again sometime. Yesterday afternoon they told us we don't need to boil our water but when I use it I think Uggh is this safe? It just seems odd with everything changed again. We were long enough with our hurricane routine that I got used to that. Now I must change back again.

When I thought it would rain I brought in all the laundry and it was either dry or 95% dry so I hung it up. Still so much to do. I'm glad I cleaned the rooms I cleaned a couple days ago.

Got 2 week's garbage out for pickup. They started a few days ago picking up. No recycling and that bin is stuffed full with all the water bottles, etc. I have several important calls to make tomorrow. Did read a county notice today which said we don't have to cut our limbs to at least 6', they will take as long as we can leave them for now. Usually we have to cut them. That's helpful, means less work, though sometimes they're heavier to pull out that way.

Made us a dinner with emphasis on vegetables. I don't think we had any vegetables this whole time, except for the one chicken dish I found in the freezer, and the potatoes in the soup one day. Tonight we had carrots and broccoli and cauliflower. We kept the refrigerator/freezer going, 2 hours on and 3 off. Maybe not quite enough because the milk soured. Oh well. At first until the last days we kept it running all the time but the gas bill was pretty steep. Poor DH never got a good night's sleep getting up to turn the generator on or off or fill it with gas. I did a couple days when his knee was its sorest. It is getting better, but not nearly there yet. His last dose of antibiotic is tonight, so I don't know what that means.

I tried to post last night when we first got electric but I wasn't fast enough and timed out.

Hoping each day gets easier. Another night's sleep might help.

Hand Pie Report ~
I made two more for me they have crumbled meat loaf cheese on pizza sauce in em.
They are in the oven.
I keep telling myself they do not have to look pretty! LOL!
Saw some on a history or cooking show on the history of them and how they were made for miners back in the day.
They were not pretty either. Guys took em in their lunch pail [lard tins].

Success it tastes great, half is a serving so I will be considering how to make em smaller.
I wrapped em in foil for later I will freeze a couple later.
