Hi. We are having a really hot day and sunny. With all the work outside I'd love for lower temperature and a nice breeze.

Right now I'm so hot and can't seem to get cool. We went out this morning and did a lot of work that took 2 people and got one post in the hole and the damaged one out. We think there's another 3 at least to do. and then all the other parts of the fencing. 1 smaller gate to redo. The big double one wasn't damaged, thank goodness, because DH pulled his dump truck right up to it. That protected it.

We came in to recuperate a bit. DH has been sleeping. He's all worn out. He was out before I went out there too. While he slept I went out and did the area all around the big oak tree in the back yard. I removed the firewood, the bigger pieces and the smaller ones. I raked and took all the twigs and spanish moss and junk that came out of the tree out to the piles. Then I stacked up the wood again. DH grows pineapples under there too. I propped one up.

Then I went back to the place along the side fence (damaged) and raked and took 3 cart loads out to those piles so we can walk along in back as we fix those sections. I got that much done and then had to stop and come in to cool off. I am getting very sun tanned with all this outside work.

DH looks all done in. We may not go out again today. Sometime soon I need to get to the store. I need some stuff. Last night I ordered a couple supplements online. Just trying to keep up.

Well, I’m pulling for both orange teams today, Rose. My team has done a little better than expected, actually, but I don’t think there’s anyway we will win. The other orange team may have a chance. They just scored on their first possession!

Atlanta Braves are NOT doing well at all.

So that’s what’s going on here. Dh still feels really rough. We’re just glad to be home.
Tomorrow is another day.

Today is Fall Festival Day times 2. Our little town is having their Fall Festival and a small town about 10 miles away is having one too. Both of them are having a car show included in the festivals. DS14 is going back and forth between the two festivals. DH, DD11 and I went to our local festival and made all the rounds of the various vendors. We ate at one of the food trucks for our lunch. Afterwards we went to an estate sale in the country. I wanted to look at the windows in this house and attending the estate sale made that easy. Estate sales tend to make me feel sad as they show how much STUFF can be crammed into a house.

I'm enjoying reading the plant information being shared here. I am constantly germinating, potting seedlings, growing microgreens, and cloning plants indoors. Today I was outside admiring how beautiful the zinnias are blooming as they spill over and cascade a couple of feet. It made me start to wonder if Zinnas will grow inside during winter. The zinnias have zero chance of staying alive outside in winter, so I have nothing to lose by taking cuttings and trying to grow them inside.

Very interesting day, some of it very sad.

We did go back outside and worked on 2 more of the posts. They are prepped and ready to pull out of the ground. DH has his stake puller out ready to hook up for the job. He had made metal stakes to use for holding up the form boards for all the slabs and footers he used to pour, and he made a stake puller to pull those stakes out of the ground after the pour. So we used it for the first post and will use it for the other ones. Our poles are down in the ground a good ways with concrete all around. Getting them out this way we can put the new poles into the same hole with the concrete intact around the post. Back neighbor was interested in how we were doing this. Their fence is very damaged too. Same kind of fence.

While we were out there I swept the whole back porch, around the big stack of fencing. It is covered with twigs and leaves. I brushed off the hurricane panels still up on the windows, now very dirty and stuck with leaves etc.

By then we were very tired and we tidied up a very little bit and went for a hamburger. Too tired to do any cooking again. Was embarrassed that our credit card was refused, DH tried his and I tried mine, nope. There we were standing in work clothes not looking very pretty with credit cards that didn't work. I guess we looked a little like homeless people. Cash worked! So soon as we got home I called to find out why and apparently somebody tried to use our account number online and was refused something like 4 times. The guy on the phone went through the charges and nope those weren't ours...somebody trying to order online but evidently didn't have our code on the back...so that account is closed now and new ordered. Just another problem.

I was very dismayed to see the damage all around us and downtown. I haven't been out since we got power and I can see where the tree people uncovering the wire also went through the lots and made an awful lot of mess all over. It just looks terrible. As people clear their yards and pull it out to the road things begin to look worse and worse. Some streets are just impassable. And the blue tarps downtown and practically no signs, street signs or building signs intact, and so much damage all over the place. I am just very sad to see it all. DH said, it will take a year to clean up all this damage....yeah, just in time for next year's hurricane season. :(

Our Class at church has been canceled until first of next year. Our host church is damaged and we've said we will wait for them to be fixed up before we attempt to come back. We are very happy to be there and the organization does pay them something for letting us use their spaces, but all their children's spaces are closed up while getting fixed (roof damage) and we have lots of children's classes too, so we are waiting. I'm glad they're letting us come back when they're fixed up.
