Wonderful Wednesday

I didn’t get in here on Tuesday and I wanted to make sure everyone knew I appreciated the anniversary wishes! Actually, y’all got ahead of yourselves — our anniversary is today — Wednesday— but it’s okay, because we celebrated Tuesday night anyway. We went through the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A! Dh’s idea, because he knows that’s honestly one of my favorite places to eat. (And it is NOT his favorite, for sure.)
Tonight I’ll go to church, but he does not plan to go; and Thursday we will be celebrating Ds’s birthday.

So — I don’t have any real plans for ta-das or anything today, but I do plan to count my blessings and be thankful for the 43 years dh and I have had so far!

Well, that would have been ME who was a day ahead of myself. For some reason I thought yesterday was the 19th and today the 20th. So consider yourself doubly blessed: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MR & MRS LUCYLEE!

There! Think I have my days straight now. Even wrote the 20th on a check for propane this morning. I woke up just before 6 and realized the furnace was not sounding right. So, got up and realized it kept trying to 'fire'. So I turned the thermostat down and waited about 10 minutes and turned it back up. Same thing wouldn't fire. So when dh finally awoke around 6:40 I told him, "Sadly I think we're out of propane". He thought perhaps when he put the 2nd tank on 4 days ago that he forgot to turn it on. Went out and lo' and behold, both tanks empty. We have been using a LOT OF PROPANE! It's $51.84 to fill 2/30# tanks. We've gone through 2 in less than a week. Hopefully it's the last check I'll have to write this fall. We have less than 10 days left.

DGD27 texted me last night just after 8 to ask if we were available any time between Sunday and next Wednesday. Told her I'd get back to her today after I check our schedule. She's obviously working 12-hour night shift at the hospital (she's an RN in the obstetrics unit) and is sleeping part of the day. Can't imagine how they're managing that with her dh working and a 4-month old baby in the house. I have some things to give her. One is a ceramic angel in memory of her Mom (DShelley). Also have some other things I want to ask her about. I'm really trying to downsize in this RV. It's our 'home' but some of the fluff I know I don't need to hang onto. So, we'll see.

Dh is continuing to have intensifying leg/ankle/foot cramps after he gets in bed. Last night was awful. He can't even walk when they hit. So I sent a note to his Dr this morning asking if he could go for blood work to check things out. He didn't have any blood work done last week and it's been a while. Dr did change him to 500mg of Magnesium OXIDE. He was taking plain magnesium before. I am really suspecting his potassium level is low and I know that can be dangerous. Oh if it's only something that simple.

As long as I was up, dh asked when we were doing laundry again -checked my list and had it scheduled for today. So stripped the bed and we're doing those plus a load of whites. I have 'darks' scheduled for Friday and "whatever's left" for Monday morning. The laundry room/bathhouse are being turned off later Monday afternoon. Then the water to the whole park is being turned off late Wednesday, the 25th. So we've stocked up on some gallons of water and dh says we have 1/3 tank of water in our holding tank. Should be enough to get us through till the morning of the 29th. I imagine he'll winterize before the water is shut off.

Well as long as I'm up (and I certainly can't go back to bed -we only keep the one set of sheets in the camper. Guess I'm in trouble if something should happen to the sheets one night! ) may as well get dressed and start my day with another list of "Ta-Da's". That worked well for me yesterday (and somewhat following my routines list). Wasn't really feeling up to snuff but feel better this morning, despite only 4 hours/19 minutes of sleep. I see a nap again today.

My week of appointments out of the house continues. Today I'm getting my eyes checked at 11:30 and it's out by the mall. I need to pick out new frames. I think it's been over three years with these? Assuming I need new lenses, I'll stick with the same sunglasses frames if I can. So there's a chunk out of the middle of my day.

DH is supposed to be out tonight but his client could cancel too and he'd be home instead. I'm counting on some evening time to work. I was upstairs until 8 last night and had that sinking feeling that what I'm doing might not be right, might not be strong enough, that I'm missing something, that it's going to blow up.

I gotta stop lollygagging and get in the shower.

Good morning all!

We woke to "freezing fog" but that cleared off quickly, first mist, and now a beautiful sunny day. The leaves are just past their peak so are still stunning and the lower sun in the sky makes the light angles more interesting.

I had an 8 a.m. errand (picking up mail for an apartment bound person in the other building) and I was late by a few minutes due to getting distracted and organizing my extra shoelaces. No kidding.

Dd also called and apologized when I said I couldn't talk long because I had an 8 a.m. errand that I was late for. Then laughed when I said it wasn't her fault and told her about the shoelaces!

So my tah-dah's so far are: I have an amazing shoelace organization system, am s2s, opened 1/3 of the mail, picked up yesterday's mail, ran the errand, sent money owed to ds, and have eaten breakfast (which I usually have after 11.) Time to finish up my grocery list and go do the groceries.

From last night, this made me chuckle in recognition.

Part of me felt bad for the little thing. Part of me thought it would make a tasty morsel for the tuxedo cat that’s been roaming around, which DC has also been quite taken with. I did not say this to DC.

Twins: I hate shopping for new frames. Good luck! At least with cell phone selfie-cameras we can now see what we really look like in the new frames, and from different angles. I chose badly last time. They look just fine but the frame doesn't fit well so the glasses are always slipping down and thus I'm never looking through the correct part of the prescription for the distance I require. At $500 a pair, I feel I need to suffer through for another year and then get a new pair. In the meantime, my computer glasses fit wonderfully and look amazing. They were a very expensive designer frame but dh insisted (I had misread the price or I never would have tried them on, then immediately fell in love with them.) Since I don't go out much, I wear them almost all the time and only use my other glasses for driving (although I can drive in these if I forget, signs just aren't as easy to read.)

I'm hoping the folks there can give me glasses advice, Kathryn. The owner's wife is amazing at it; I used to specify setting up my appointment on the days she would work, but OTOH I'd get there and she wasn't there anyway. So I'll take my chances with their staff.

I talked to dfriend whose wife had knee replacement yesterday. I'll drop chili at their house this afternoon in the shade on their screened porch, so they can retrieve it when they get home. High will be in the fifties so it will be okay for awhile.

Eating my brunch, will need to head out soon.

Wow! Such an elegant anniversary dinner, lucylee! Actually, it's sweet of your DH to suggest such as a gift to you.

I hope your DH gets straightened out soon, Dee! Thinking warm thoughts of your DGD -- and thoughts of warmth to you! It sounds difficult to pace everything at the end of the year, but I suppose it's old hat to you by now.

I'm glad DC's wildlife encounter gave you a chuckle, Kathryn! We had another one this morning. As I was backing out of the driveway to take DC to class, there was a bird just sitting there that didn't move as the car approached. I stopped the car, and DC took a look at it, then went inside and got gloves to pick it up, as it really wasn't going anywhere. They were tickled to get to pick up and stroke a bird (even through a pair of rubber gloves) but worried, of course. I said maybe it had run into the window and gotten stunned. We'd had a bird do that before, at our front door, and it sat there for about half an hour. So they moved it off the driveway to the grass. When I got home, I looked, and it was gone, so I assume it got out of its daze and flew away. I texted DC, so they could stop worrying.

I hope you find some lovely glasses that work well for you, Twins! Mine are OK for the computer, but not as good as taking them off and holding the computer a bit closer to my face. But then I only have one hand free and so have to hunt and peck.

Thank you for the poems, blessed! The first one sounds familiar -- my kids may have learned it in preschool.

Still working on grocery list -- I need to compare it to what little we currently have in the house. I think I will place it as an order to the big grocery store, which will likely not be ready till tomorrow, and go to the nearby grocery store and pick up a rotisserie chicken and potato salad for tonight.

Good morning!

My morning has been one distraction after another. It took me 2.5 hours to finish my morning Bible study. I have one spot used for Bible study. When I'm sitting in that spot it helps me to remember what I'm doing. It works 95% of the time but today wasn't one of those days. In fairness to myself, it was not my fault today but just constant calls, drop ins, questions, and text from others. I could put my phone on silence but I always keep my phone near when the kids aren't with me so they can get hold of me. Ohs well.. The good news is I did finish the 15 minute Bible study even though it took me 2.5 hours!

Today's schedule -
** Infusion Therapy appt. This is #6 of 12 monthly treatments. I am halfway done!
** Pick up DH prescriptions from pharmacy
** Pick up DS14 belt from clothing store.
** Get egglife wrappers from Sam's. I saw a recipe I want to try with them. (Using them as noodles)
** DD11 has academic team practice after school so that gives us an extra 45 minutes to be in the city.
