Nancy, that is a fun topic for today.

This is a catch-up-on-posts post!

Watches chat - Nancy and Kathryn, my watch stopped the other day. Because of this site and A-River, I can say without a doubt it is 2 years 4 months since I purchased it. I don't think that's enough to expect from either a battery or a watch. Especially since the band broke and had to be replaced after a year. I ordered a cheap one which will be here today. HRH was disappointed in me for not spending more money, but I just didn't feel it. I'll still get another battery put in when I get around to it. This new one has a band with very high marks on the opinions on A-River.

RoboCalls chat - Harmony, I have recently become so irritated at them that I actually spoke gruffly to our HVAC tech who called here by mistake. That's bad when the mercenary people make you so mad you can't even be nice to the real (however mistaken) callers. (He was supposed to call dd42 about that house and called us saying he had a note to always call us when they work on that house. This makes both households crazy, because that was supposed to be REVERSED for while there was no one living here in THIS one. They can't get it right.)

Twins',
we're proud of your work on your project! You will send it off into the heritage universe and Let It Go... .. :D
I remember being church treasurer and having to constantly tell the credit-card holders (we never had more than 3) that no, the church treasurer couldn't call the bank FOR them, because the name on the card was THEIR NAME. Convenience payments are much more difficult for groups than for individuals.

LadyM, I read about your dsisil's diagnosis with concern. That is a tough situation. Possibly a family-group agreement for several to take smaller amounts of responsibility, dividing it up? Perhaps everyone deciding on an in-home caregiver? (so expensive, I know)

Another forty minutes on the phone but supposedly account will be closed (...up to 72 hours...blah blah blah.) I wouldn't bet the house on it. Terrible communication - Asian phone bank.

Guess who slept until after 10am this morning? ME!
I got up at normal time (6am) and took a OTC cold tablet and went back to bed. The next thing I knew, it was 4 hours later. I love Fridays!
My body might be fighting off a cold, but I have no symptoms other than a feeling of being a bit off and needing an extra 4 hours of sleep.

While I was snoozing away the morning, DH went to a quarterly checkup appt with family doctor. The doctor said to keep doing exactly what he is currently doing with the exception of changing his weekly 1mg ozempic to 2mg. This medication change isn't to help his A1C but to encourage the loss of a few more pounds.

DD46 brought us several sweet treats. She has been selling 1/2 pint and pint mason jars of sweet things at local BBQ place. Pecan Pie, Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Fudge Brownie with espresso mascarpone and chocolate cheesecake topped with graham cracker crust, and Peanut Butter cookie with chocolate mascarpone and peanut butter cheesecake topped with graham cracker crust. Thankfully, I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so it isn't a challenge for me to have these sweet things in the house. I'm not tempted by them. The kids and DH will make them disappear in the next day or two.

hello again - I ordered a sandwich from door dash - first time in awhile. I thought we had things. I don't feel like cooking.
I fished the one project -
I also am working on the weeds in the back - I want to come back to spring with less weeds.
As I work, I am listening to "The Maid". I had heard good things about this so I shall see.
dh is at the dealership for dd older's car.

dd older took d mom to the doctor. I had mentioned to them that I wanted her ears checked but it was forgotten. She listens to tv really loud. I think I will have to make an appointment for her at an ear dr.

mom's hiding of meds has made her cholesterol go up. (problem with telling her is that she will stop eating anything). They also raised her thyroid meds - both issues are because of her taking a pill or two and putting them somewhere else. They have been found in listerine packets or under something. The dr said the nurse we have for her meds and dd younger need to count her pills. They do but it means nothing if the person doesn't take them or appears to take them. There is a lack of understanding

. I can usually tell when someone hasn't had a family member who has had dementia or Alzheimers. They also can't understand that because someone appears to with it in the moment can have beginning/existing dementia.

I have a sweet tooth for sure. But recently I've quit anything sweet because it stirs up the tooth. Which, by the way, still needs fixing. The search for a good dentist continues....so many of them are out or closed right now because of the storm. It's a very difficult time to have a toothache.

We finished putting all the pickets in. DH needs to work on one gate. The one hinge broke off and the latch needs redone. At least it's still together.

I went around to the outside of the fence on the side by the empty lot. There's so much carp growing in there and it grows closer and closer to the fence... we try to keep it cleared out. Then the tree trimmers with the electric guys cut a couple trees and just left them back there. It's all a very big mess. I chopped and dragged out anything close to the fence so we could walk back and forth to take care of it. We're very disappointed. DH went around and sprayed all around the bottom of the fence inside and out but it doesn't seem to be killing the vegetation. It's all weeds and on the one side honeysuckle vines. We have a weed vine in FL that crawls up trees and covers everything....sorta like Kudzu like Harriet might see in her state.... and if we don't keep it chopped back it will take over the fence too. Our neighbors in back and the other side do not pull their weeds and they both have some sort of weedy vine throughout their grass.

Anyway, that's about as much work as I can do. DH is cutting some of the damaged poles into some sort of L brackets he's going to use inside some of the top fencing...all in an effort to keep this from happening again. The reinforcement bars are supposed to be in tomorrow. We will drive around in the truck and put them down in the posts and hope for the best.

Time to cook some dinner. I did get the desk chores done. Tonight I have some filing and a letter to answer.

DD11 and I have teamed up to set her priorities for today.
** Virtual school paper. Completed -it took her less than 5 minutes.
** School project due on Monday - Write book summary, create poster, and decorate pumpkin with theme of the book.
** Clean her bedroom including vacuum and mop.

DS14 is working today but will need to get his bedroom cleaned, vacuumed, and mopped when he gets home.

I have created a display for this year's school pictures of DGS15, DGD11 and DD11 but I don't have a school type picture of DS14. I was disappointed in the quality of pictures from the photographer I hired last year so I want to use someone different. ANYway, we now have a photo session scheduled for Nov 11th to create school picture for DS14.

I chose to put my focus on about 10' section of a wall today (instead of focusing on a corner). I removed everything from that 10'x6' area, decided its purpose, decluttered, deep cleaned it, and then put things in that area that serve its purpose. That area was an embarrassing looking disaster when I started but now it looks nice. The best part (to me) of only focusing on a small area is it gets done and didn't take much time to accomplish.

Not a productive day. Not due to interruptions, this is all on me.

Went for a walk with dh.

Put the extra decorations in the office.

Picked up the Halloween candy from staff. The manager bought 1475 pieces. I had asked for 500 pieces. With that much we have about 200 pieces left over every year.

I've posted a picture of the grocery cart full of candy on the neighbourhood Facebook group inviting the neighbourhood kids to trick or treat at all three buildings.

I waited until the last minute to cancel a mini-trip to watch DGD11 compete in an equestrian event tomorrow. I was willing to drive 8+ hours to watch her compete (less than 10 minutes) but I'm not willing to do it while it is raining. I assume the event will be cancelled due to the rain. Last weekend DGS15 was competing in a bike race, but I couldn't get things aligned so we could attend. It is one disappointment after another for me. It seems we will never get to watch DGS15 and DGD11 much. We lost 2 years during c19, plus many months doing end of life caregiving for DMIL. However, now that things are back to normal, I don't seem to be able to get frequent trips & visits planned like we used to do. Time is flying and they are growing up so fast. **Pouting***

DS14 has found another pickup he wants to buy. **Big Sigh** >>>reminding myself that it could be worse. He could be obsessed by drugs, gangs, s*x, laziness, etc<<<<< DS14 has talked DH into going with him to look at the potential pickup. If it happens, it will be purchased with cash that DS14 has earned, but still......
