I don't think I commented yesterday on how glad I am that Dee and Mr. Dee are reunited in FL! I hope you guys can get feeling well again - the FL life clearly appeals to him.

I have a quiet day planned. I think we're going to the river tomorrow. Our friends are planning to be there - she feels she can get in and out on her recovering knee. I assume they aren't staying the night - their bedroom is upstairs. Today I think we'll be watching the TN/GA game at 3:30 with RR. I need a break from people today anyway - we had a fire last night and dneighbors were over along with their guest in town overnight. And M and her dh and R uby came for awhile too. We have an amazing view looking west at the mountains.

I need to s2s and get the smoke out of my hair! And get started on a.m. routine instead of sitting here.

Landscapers cut my internet cable so I have no service. Won’t be repaired till Nov 15 so you won’t see much of me till then.

After winds took three branches out of the big tree in front, two were smaller and a good sized one
neighbor, brought his chainsaw and cut em up we loaded em in his truck and he took em to ECO where they chip em up for free.
No damage that I can see and the one big branch blew out in the street a safe place for it to land in the nite.
I have power! Very satisfying, to have that done yea!

Had a bit of a low but ate before I started on that!
Journals done.
I got dressed.

May need a nap today bc I was up early with the storm noise.

Ramblin' loses her internet just as mine returns!

Inspector came this a.m. and glanced, turned, waved and was gone.

biiiiigggg price tag for all the work, but we are good to go into the 21st century now.

Harmony said land with trees equals problem - true. And land with a (wonderful) old house in the trees equals problems, too.

Electrician also listened to me (wonder of wonders) and believed me that when I was a child, a light switch in the LR near foyer worked an electrical outlet in LR, so that my parents could turn on the lamps as they walked into the room, even though no overhead light was in the houseplan. He looked behind and investigated, finding something of a mess that he criticized quite a bit. (Who knows what year or what electrician did work on that switch.) He quickly restored my faith in my memory. Now the lighting is back to the way the architect envisioned, and so easy to use.

With all that inconvenience out of the way, the long period without refrigeration seemed to reveal new aromas.

TaDa so far
So, my immediate household chore was to deep-clean the refrigerator surfaces. Had three bins out and drying all around the kitchen at one point. Done. I hope that was all of the smell. After you've been around an odor for a while you don't sense it as well as you first did. HRH was still blaming the kitty litter, but no. I could tell it was that vegetation-organic smell, not potty-organic. I'm a sniffing expert.

Slow start to my day until I remembered I needed to make & deliver a dish by 10am to a nearby church for funeral meal. OOPs. I kicked it into high gear and got the food there in time. This funeral is for a 44 year old female in good health that unexpectedly died of heart attack. She was the daughter of lifelong friends.

I got up at 4am to find DD11 awake. She couldn't sleep because she felt yucky. I checked her for fever and she was okay. I gave her some OTC meds for congestion. I've given her another dose of OTC meds this morning.

I just finished placing a big online order with Sams to have it shipped here. Since they will deliver things to my front porch for free, I'm willing to let them. I still have to go to the store to get cold items and fresh fruit/vegetables but the amount that I need to put into my cart, load into my vehicle, and unload is greatly reduced by using the free delivery to the porch option. I try to restock the pantry when they put things on sale.

I have no plans for the rest of the day. I would like to relax a bit since DS14 isn't here. He is high maintenance.

How difficult for that family, LadyM, and very kind of you to take something. 44 is so young for a woman to have a sudden fatal heart attack, just by statistics. My dsonil was 48 and it was considered extremely young for him, but the same had happened to his father at 47.

Recommendation :
Battery-back-up recharging light bulbs worked like a charm for us during our planned electric outage. A friend recommended them when he heard we were about to have the electricity turned off. We purchased this brand, but there are several brands. They came completely charged, did everything they said. We could have lights on in the house and also, no one outside would even suspect the house was without power.

I made a loaf of bread it is cooling and another is raising.
Picked up another half of a 5 gal. bucket of twigs in the driveway.
The forecast said it was supposed to calm down by now but it's still blustery.
I have waited to take the walk, I did walk with the dog to the corner and back.
Had to b/c the bread was in the oven anyway.
I spiffed up the kitchen again after this batch of bread had to refill
the flower canister.

Hello. Taking a break. Still typing without the index finger. Very awkward.

RRose, sorry your internet cable got cut. I've seen the X Finity truck here in the neighborhood today. People with that service are screaming about their lack of service. Some getting the news it will be till February to get fixed. The cable TV company here was severed up in back of us. Someone replaced a telephone pole and the cable co came along and drove into it and knocked it over. 2nd new pole installed. I'm living in a war zone.

Nancy, so glad that tree stuff didn't fall on your house. Good neighbors to come and help. Our neighbors were wonderful, guy in back helped with our wiring to our generator which DH had messed up with the wrong type wire. Couple from up the street came by with 2 pieces of warm chicken.

Also glad Harriet is now attached to the grid. Did you have to live with the generator for a while? Sorry I've lost track of when everything was happening. Oh, here the code is every room has to have a light activated by a wall switch. We have switches and outlets all over the place, though we don't use them all. Sorry your food got spoiled.

LadyM, I'm seeing information about the excess death rate going way up and so many younger people dying of heart problems who never had any of that before. Sure makes me wonder what's been going on. They are not investigating or keeping track of all this and some are beginning to question it all.

Long desk day as I straightened out a couple bills and my auto-pay for my cell service which got messed up. I had tried to change the credit card but I guess they didn't get enough info on their automated phone service and today I finally got an actual person to straighten it all out. Apparently they didn't get the new charging set up and were telling me I had none...

Also still working on that back bedroom, today taking the dust ruffle off and getting rid of all the black fuzzy cat hair. They had evidently gone back and forth under the bed...and I don't believe those kids ever brushed these 2 critters. I've vacuumed and washed sheets and now the ruffle, and now if I dust and mop it will be clean of all cat. DH is allergic, I have to be careful.

Poor finger is now raw all the way around from the constant bandaging, so getting worse instead of better. And I've been using an antibacterial salve which doesn't appear to be working. Well, good excuse to not be outside working, anyway.

Was watching tornado news last night. Looked pretty grim over in LA and Texas and Arkansas.

DD and dh have left to go to Tampa to see the Lightning/Buffalo Sabres game tonight. Dh wore his Lightning hat and his Buffalo Bills T-shirt. Figures that should confuse them. Either way "his team" is going to win. Asked dd to watch out for her Dad tonight. She told him I said that.
DD has tickets for tonight's game. Dh had his choice of games this fall and really wanted to see Buffalo play.

I've done nothing this afternoon. But as I was reminded in a book I'm reading: "Busy hands help push back the worries". So, I'm working on cleaning off our table in our room. I had it pretty clean yesterday -until dh/dsonil arrived home. Have other things listed that need to get done and I'll peck away at them. Remembering, "busy hands".
