Wow the weather everywhere is gnarly. Here in Florida the heavy rains are a bit north of us and I know Dee must be getting some of it and a huge part of our state is in a Tornado watch. We would be in a lot of mess around here if that came here with all the debris still sitting around. We are just on the edge of the red zone on the weather report.

It is very breezy here. Yesterday I had to go out and straighten out the clothes on the drying rack and put clothes pins on them. I brought everything in this morning. I am watching the huge oaks across the street. They picked up their debris from the storm (actually a volunteer group pushed it all out to the street into a huge big pile) but they've never trimmed those trees and there is a lot of dead stuff up in them. The dead stuff has all turned brown and it is more evident. I'll bet some of it is going to come down in this wind. I hope it doesn't fly across the road...

I caught up my spreadsheets this morning.

Had trouble sleeping last night, my back has been hurting ever since I was in the dentist chair. Ended up on the couch where I slept better. Thank you Kathryn for sharing your dental experience; I don't wonder now at what happened to me. Gal I had after the dentist seemed very competent. My gums are a bit sore around the "tooth" or what's left of it.

I ordered a new water tube for the water P ik. Tried the cheaper place and their system was down so I got a name brand, maybe that'll last longer. I really need it. When I brush and floss my teeth should be clean, right? No, then I use the W Pik and more comes out. Always amazed me.

LadyM, enjoy your vacation from school!

Yep, it's about to hit here, Harmony. AND I'm just getting ready to go out the door for a hair appointment at 1. I was going to go to A ldi's first but with this storm coming in, I'm heading right to the salon. Hoping it's not raining when I get there. Need to get my umbrella handy.

Today is our matriarch, Indiana's, birthday. Happy birthday in Heaven, Indiana.

I'll post more later. Have talked with dh and I think he'll be heading 'home' pretty soon. PA has discharged him and he was just waiting for nurse to remove probes, etc.

BBL. Turning off this computer while I'm gone.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Stay safe, Dee. Did you see what happened in Louisiana yesterday?

Dove, thank you for those links. I watched all 3. I watch Mayberry all the time and I never remembered a Christmas episode. That refrigerator in I Love L ucy house is very much like our old one growing up...which was moved to our basement when a neighbor gave us a slightly bigger one for our kitchen. It had a little interior box at the top which fit 2 ice cube trays and not much else for the freezer!

(((Dee))) Take extra care of yourself during this stressful time. Glad to hear your DH is doing well the day after surgery.

Dove - Thank you for sharing those videos. I love everything about them. I used to do 3D graphic design like that during one part of my career. The number of details involved in creating them is staggering. I have subscribed to that YouTube channel so I can come back and view them in small time frames as treats.

Our weather is the best it will be for the next couple of weeks. We are about to drop below freezing and stay that way for many days. Our high temperatures will be in the teens and the lows will be negative numbers. Usually when it gets that cold we don't get a lot of snow but they are predicting a white Christmas for our area.

I am staying on target with hourly 250 steps. It is starting to feel like a game to me.

I just finished my second mini-meal (lentil soup) and have the other 3 mini meals planned. My main meal will be eating out with DS14 on the way to his 6:30pm appt with counselor. I have placed an online WM order for curbside pickup after his appt as we leave the city. I didn't realize until recently that some WMart prices are reduced if you are doing curbside pickup. I recently discovered that Sam's has some items at reduced prices if you use the Scanning app. I absolutely detest everything about the normal way of checkout, so discovering these price reductions to encourage online shopping & self-scanning feels like a WIN WIN.

The Man has come and gone re: heat unit. Lots of rust in unit, but he says he cleaned it and we can continue using it.

Dh is folding towels, yada yada yada... and getting ready to go get a haircut. He does not feel like any of this, but he did sleep all night, so that's something. Cough medicine has codeine in it, so it's good stuff... but you can't take it and function during the day.

I am practically falling asleep here at the keyboard, but when he gets back, I have to go get dmom at rehab and take her home.
Have an appt for Tuesday for her to get staples out.

I am the one lagging behind... can't seem to get anything wrapped for Christmas! Closet is FULL of packages, but there are still a few gifts I need to buy to "finish up" certain people... and now dmom wants to know what she can get dgs, which means I have that to figure out. And must figure out those final gifts... whew... they're still hanging over my head because I have no idea what to buy.
Cards are ready to go except for stamps and the ones that dh wants to write notes on.

Next week...
Monday -- Ironing
Tuesday -- dmom to doctor's appt
Wednesday -- ?
Thursday -- ?
Friday -- bake cookies
Saturday -- Christmas Eve service at church, supper/gifts with ds family and dbil family
Tomorrow is another day.

Dh suggested doing the beef ribs in the slow cooker. I poured a bottle of BBQ sauce over the ribs and set it for 4 hours on high. As far as I know we will be having rice and dh will have oven baked butternut squash.

hi -quick hi as my brain is a skitter scatter today.

I thought you would enjoy this story re d mom. (preface to understand mom's thoughts) mom seems to have a problem when she takes her ambien - dr. has said she can get off of it cold Turkey and it won't hurt her. I asked for a placebo as mom has been taking this for 40 years - they suggested melatonin - dd younger said a gummy wouldn't work but will look to for a similar type pill of melatonin.

what was cute - she was watching one of her favorite news shows and they spoke about butt lifts being a problem - my d mom said - your d brother knows all about that - he has talked people out of butt lifts and showed them how bad it is for them. oh my goodness it was so funny/cute -of course we didn't laugh - it was very sincere and sweet. She then said that my brother talked to the other board members in the fire department out of getting butt lifts. Adorable. She doesn't remember that this morning but absolutely adorable. she was very loving yesterday.

Lunch for the kids and DH was chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, and chocolate meringue pie. I took a bite of each dish but was satisfied to stop instead of continue eating it.

Did I tell you that I've found 4 baby snakes this week? All 4 of them were found inside the house! There are 2 rooms of the house that aren't raised footing and those 2 rooms always have problems with pests & critters. The other parts of the house never have a problem. DH said "I wonder where the snake clutch and mom is?" ****Groan**** I did not need to think about more snakes! Last year we were overwhelmed by mice, This year we don't have a mice problem but apparently that is because we have an increase in snake population. These snakes are not poisonous but that is the nicest thing I can say about this experience.

Snakes and mice ugggh! People here get roof rats and they come around because of the citrus trees they have in their yards. We had one in our garage years and years ago, but never since. We are not lucky enough to have lots of fruit trees that are producing. All people have to do is pick up the fruit that falls onto the ground, but most don't do that. I would if we had that much fruit. Our grapefruit tree died; I told DH not to plant another because neither of us are supposed to eat them. I think we got one lime last year.

I followed LadyM's link from yesterday and printed out a nice monthly calendar for 2024 for those "come in a year" appointments. I also got a monthly calendar that I could reduce the size to 6.5 x 6.5 for 2024 for the same and stapled that into my pocket book. Yeah, I know, I should just be using my calendar in my phone....old habits die hard I guess. I printed out a 8x10 2023 year calendar for inside my hutch door...I look there quite often when I'm writing a check to make sure of the date...and while I was looking I printed out one for 2024. I think I'm all set for next year!
