Wondering Wednesday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

For those of you "wondering"

1. Yes the boards are up.

2. They are not what they were before GoDaddy did a server update. GoDaddy appears to have lost December 24 onwards in PWYC and Dec. 23 onwards in the rest of the phpBB database.

3. This is odd because it is all one database so it is possible no-one posted anything in any other thread (including J&C) on December 23 but highly unlikely.

4. We now have access to our c-Panel which gives us the ability to look at our files on the GoDaddy server and do things with them. That happened after I sent out the email this morning saying the boards were up.

5. GoDaddy has confirmed that what we have now is all we are getting so any posts that are missing are truly missing. The last backup I have access to is December 22.

Quick summary of the last 4 days.

Christmas Eve was a bust since my service was cancelled due to the weather. It was a good call, while I would have been at the service, the highway that led me to the rural roads leading to the village was shut. So obviously, the locals weren't overreacting, they were right to cancel the service (which they did in the morning but the whiteouts they were in and the fact that the winds weren't forecast to abate made them make the right call.)

Christmas Day was quiet. Dh and I had a discussion about what wasn't getting done, for example the Christmas Cards which didn't have to wait for the newsletters to be printed and we got those done, including stamped (but not mailed because the post office reopens today.) Then he agreed to print off the first page of the newsletters here so he could start doing those. I did all the envelopes. Half the newsletters still need the personal message but then we have to wait for Staples to actually print our job (put in on Dec. 16th, to be done in 1 - 3 days.)

In the afternoon, ds dropped by for a hug out in the parking lot (dgs was asleep in the car) and then we went to dd's for a lovely time of playing with the kids, presents, and good dinner of chicken and ham.

Boxing Day was super quiet except for a few hours trying to find out what was going on with the boards.

Yesterday was a bit of a scramble. Another hour on hold with GoDaddy, then tidying quickly to get ready for dgs to come over for a sleepover.

He is good as gold so we had a lovely afternoon/evening. And he slept 10 hours (and I slept over 8, going to bed after tidying up and doing dishes, and then getting up before him because I was fully awake.)

He was good while I was on the call with GoDaddy and is playing nicely beside me while I write this (over 30 minutes, though, because he keeps asking me to sing or read a book or catch a ball!)

He'll go home late in the afternoon and I'll go into fast mode, trying to get the house ready for tomorrow's Family Christmas Dinner. At this point, everyone is well so it looks like this planned event will actually happen. Because I didn't believe it would I have no menu planned, only a ham bought for those that don't like turkey, but need to buy a turkey and all the fixings, plus make a cake for dh's birthday cake. I'll be very busy today (squeezing in what I can between playing with and caring for dgs) and tomorrow.

Kathryn - THANK YOU! In between juggling everything else, you have managed to do what seemed impossible. You have given the best gift with restoring the SHE boards. I hope and pray your hours of celebration are filled with joy and blessings.

My heart is happy to be back in the SHE village.

Thank you K in C for your time and effort on the boards.
I have missed you all.
Following is my Check in.
I am well. Cmas eve was a bust for me low in mood and energy.
Christmas day was good family gathering at dson's went well and the biscuits & gravy I took was a hit.
I made it there and back 1.3 mi. safe.

Temps have warmed up here it is 40* this morning and just a few snow crumbs is all that is left.

Decluttering: I have been working on my decluttering got a dresser cleared off in the basement rec. room zone I am currently working on.
Tossed some boxes of stuff for boxing day.
I decleuttered and got a desk in the zone completely cleaned off today yea!

Needle work: I finished the granny square throw yesterday that has been my most recent project.

Health & Fitness: Got my step goals in barely yesterday.
Got the front yard raked and got the driveway out front also.

Mon. I had em in by one pm as I'd raked the front yard fueled the one rig and got a few items at the market.
Walked the dog the last 2 days we were both glad to be able to do that. Saw 6 deer cross in front of us one day.

Today I have taken the Merry Christmas sign down from out front and put it & poinsettia sign down stairs.
Put the let it snow sign outside.

I have been working on my goals notebook / workbook to go in my goals planner. Set up bujo still to do.
Been watching you-tube vids on a goal setting workshop.

Kathryn, thank you so much for your work getting the boards back for us! I'm sending you a message here with an updated email address for me. Changed from AOL to gmail years ago, and for a very long time forwarded AOL to gmail. The last time it broke I didn't fix it.

I sure have missed you guys! Talking in my head to you hasn't helped that much, and I probably have worn out my computer trying to refresh to see we're back yet.

DH is supposed to go back to work today. So far he's still in his chair. I never got sick, thankfully, but it's been a lonely holiday. Update, he's gone! After six days here!

Kathryn and I both have dh birthdays this week. We are having A and V over with ds on Friday night for his - I'll make the lasagna I had planned to make before the holiday.

Considering another dog. It would be so easy right now - the dneighbor's mother passed away and left a dog they need to rehome. She is sweet, not too big and five years old. Not a puppy. Potty trained. We don't have a fence, although I think the dmother used an invisible fence, which we could do. (Still have one in the ground from former dogs, but probably cut in a zillion places by now.) Anyway, thinking on it. Will talk to dfriend M later too, she always helps me sort out my thoughts.

Oh, I'm so happy we're back. Thank you, thank you, Kathryn.

Let's be sure our email addresses are correct here on the boards, please. Some couldn't get their emails as Kathryn tried to reach out. We definitely want to have everyone on the same page.

So, more or less a loss of five days's posts? In PWYC, the loss is actually from Friday the 23rd, I believe. At least I don't see the 23rd.

I know Nancy and I posted in A, C and Needlework thread during that time and those are gone. I think others posted in the H and F thread, the Declutter thread. Twins', did you get to read my brilliant advice back to you in A, C and N? If not, I shall try to reconstruct! (smile) Just not certain regarding other ones.

For instance, whether anyone who recently posted in J and C, which is one in which we certainly want to feel we're keeping up, would like to recreate that.

Grateful to be here. Still digesting it and watching for more villagers to arrive. More to tell later from our household. You all look maaaaavelous.

I've been outside to enjoy the sunrise. I didn't put a coat on so I could only stay outside for about 5 minutes before my fingers got so cold they started to hurt. It felt refreshing and something I am considering making a daily habit (outside to watch the sunrise).

The day after Christmas I took down the decorations. Christmas was different this year and I was ready to put it behind me. Yesterday i decorated the house for January using the theme of snow.

I have removed all the covers from the cloth couch in the living room and have them in the washer. 4 pillows and 3 seat cushions. After the upholstery covers are washed and dried then I will discover if I can get them back onto the foam inserts. I've have done this process several times over the years with no problems, but it is always a risk. This couch is one that I bought at an estate sale 7 years ago and we have already got our money worth from it. Someday I might find a couch that I love and will replace this one, but it is way down the list of things I need to buy.

DS14 has left for work. I had breakfast (yogurt & blueberries) and accomplished my first hourly step goal.

Hurray!!! Thank you so much Kathryn for all you do for us. I so appreciate it. I missed all of you as well.

We ended up going over to my sons on Christmas Day as we ran out of time for presents on Christmas Eve. I have much to do around here as I want to redo and reorganize several of my rooms.

Yesterday I woke with my shoulder really hurting … been going on for a while but know it is the muscles from the back of my shoulder blade to the front part of my shoulder. It’s happened before. Spent the day watching Games of Thrones with a heating pad across my shoulder. Really struggled with hurt when I tried to take off a shirt or put on a sweat shirt jacket. Finally got some relief, but had to take a pain pill for it.

Slept with a heating pad on it and never moved during the night. This morning it was better. Put the heating pad back on and the Sweetie massaged me working on those muscles. Took a shower and it helped.

Twins… I’m looking for a dog as well. Just taking my time till the right one adopts me :D

I’m off to Sams as I am out of everything. The sun out and it is finally warming up so I uncovered my plants.

I placed online order for a few pantry items. Some items couldn't be picked up curbside but everything could be shipped for free, so I picked that option. Dryer sheets, instant potatoes, tang powder drink, and foaming bathroom cleaner will arrive on my porch in a few days.

I had become used to having someone else clean 3 of the bathrooms each week (I have always cleaned my own bathroom). Now we are having to implement habits that will keep those 3 bathrooms clean. DS14 bathroom is the worst. He knows how to do it and is willing but always has a reason why he will do it later. Unfortunately, later never comes. I need to guide him somehow in this much-needed life skill. Just do it NOW.

Hum...DS14 has appt with his counselor at 5pm today. Taking responsibility for the status of his bedroom & bathroom are minor issues compared to what they are working on, but I do want to mention this tendency toward continual procrastination during my part of our joint counseling session.
