Thank you for all your hard work maintaining this place for us, Kathryn!

My past few days: I was fortunate enough to get the last of my shopping done on Thursday before the storm hit. So we were basically holed up, playing games. And wrapping presents — this is the first year since I can’t remember when that I didn’t stay up for a couple of hours past Midnight Mass to finish wrapping.

Bundled up and went to visit DM Christmas Eve morning. DB arrived while I was there. DM was mostly sleeping, so we sat there and watched the football game until it was time for Mom to be changed.

Went to Midnight Mass, which had a much smaller attendance than even last year. It was pretty bitter cold at that point, though actually not as cold as it was earlier in the day.

Our kids are well past the get-up-at-the-crack-of-dawn phase. We didn’t have breakfast and start opening gifts till after 10. After a leisurely morning, we had the weekly Zoom with DH’s family; more than usual showed up, since it was Christmas. We had to cut out of the call early to make it to DB’s on time. Had a lovely afternoon/evening there. Played some Apples to Apples, and DB and his girlfriend spent a while picking the brains of my kids, trying to understand the new generation. :D

We got too many games for Christmas. Because of the owner’s assistance when I had a fall in the game shop I went to (my cane/chair broke out from under me; very embarrassing), I bought two games for DH when I had only intended to buy one. And DH went to the big game store on the other side of town and was like a kid in a candy store, so I got 4 new games, maybe one of which I would have asked for if asked. And one of DH’s siblings sent us a game.

I really need to do some laundry; I’ve gotten behind again. We have plans to go to Dfriends’ for New Year’s. Despite their DD being DC’s best friend, DC is planning to go elsewhere. OTOH, said friend spent a lot of her time this summer going to and from her then-boyfriend’s house 2 hours away and didn’t see a whole lot of DC. It’s sad to think they may be growing apart — or maybe they’re such good friends that they don’t need to see each other so often.

I’d better go do that laundry — and maybe clean the bathroom, if I’m ambitious. Have a wonderful evening, all! Stay warm!
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

I figured out why I could see December 23's PYCA thread. It was still in the cache of my browser!

I'm exhausted. It is almost bedtime.

Ds and TG stayed and visited for an hour after coming to pick up dgs. Then dh and I headed out to the store to get the food for Christmas dinner tomorrow night. There were no fresh or stuffed frozen turkeys at the first store but thankfully the second place we tried had small, fresh, turkeys, so we are all set.

The fridge has been rearranged to fit most things, those that don't are on the balcony in the cooler.

I just finished up 2 lemon squares in order to free up that room in the fridge!

I'm going to try and get the table decorated before bed and still get to bed in an hour.

Tomorrow if a very long day, starting with making a carrot cake first thing in the morning since it has to fully cool before frosting.

I am mostly caught up on my desk. Mostly. I did all the last quarterly reports and the last quarter unemployment, state and the one for the federal for the year. It doesn't matter that we had NO payroll this year. I was planning to get at least half the business account transferred to us, but then DH took that last job so I didn't. And he didn't get paid all year either. Course, he didn't do much work all year... and we did pay for our phones and internet out of that account, so I guess that's what we worked for. The work he's doing will carry over to the next year and he'll get paid for that. Even with no payroll, if I don't do the reports we'll get fined, with interest.

I paid our big statement and will send it out at the end of the week so it doesn't go through the bank till 2023. It takes too long, so if I register it for this year it will be outstanding. That's not a problem except I hate having to explain that this year and next.

I'm not usually this far behind with things. It's been an unusual year. But it shouldn't take too long to tidy up the rest of the paper, and I can get on to making sense of the house. It is kinda driving me crazy with all the disarray around.

And we have the rest of the post reinforcing bars to install. Some of them go in quickly, some require some extra work. We've had to take whole sections of fence apart to get them in.

Well, time for bed.

:D :D :D HAPPY DANCE :D HAPPY DANCE :D HAPPY DANCE!!! :D :D :D
I have been soooo thrilled ever since I saw the email! We were in College Town and dgd had my phone almost all the time so this is the first chance I've had to post! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, KATHRYN, for getting us all back together. I was really beginning to panic and think, how can I find these people????
Oh my goodness, I've missed ALL OF YOU!!!!

Catch up for my doings is not really important -- all I did on Christmas Eve was complain, LOL! I went to church and had a wonderful time with supper and gift exchange with ds/ddil/dgrands -- Just lots of snafu with dbil/family... dmom had been diagnosed with Covid and dbil/dniece didn't want to be around me. We're going to make up Christmas somewhat with them on Tuesday night next week.
Also complained about dbro, who could not get here because of flight cancellations, not his fault at all. He refuses to drive, but you know, I can kinda understand. He had 5 days to spend here, counting arrival and departure days, and he would have spent basically 24 hours on the road if he had driven to and from. Anyway. I don't know when he will get here. We don't really do big Christmas with him anyway -- we have breakfast (usually for supper, LOL) and we all give dmom her presents, and she usually gives us $, and dbro and dsisil buy for dgrands, but we don't exchange with each other anymore.

The good news is -- dmom should be dismissed from hospital tomorrow! More in J&C.
Tomorrow is another day.
