Movement Monday
Time's moving like a river's flow, taking us along with it. We can fight the current, we can drift aimlessly, getting caught up in the weeds, or we can move our limbs and use our minds to plan how to get to where we want to go.
Whether it is through walking, cleaning, forward movement on a project, or movement on a diagnosis (and some fluid out) for Dee's dh, let's hope for lots of movement in the village today!

Re: Movement Monday
The movement I choose to envision for Dee is the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she sleeps.
For myself, I may only be just keeping up but we'll see.
It is bitterly cold outside so currently there are some dramatic scenes of mist coming up off the rivers. Bitter cold also means sunshine. If that holds, it will be the third day of sun in a row here (and crushing the 2023 record of 1 day.) On Saturday, everyone we came across was talking about the gorgeous sunshine. With the heavy snow (11" over the previous 36 hours), everything looked like a winter movie set, clean and sparkling. As I waited for dd to get ready to go, I stood in the sun on her driveway and just let it absorb into me.
Later, in the elevator on the way up to the apartment, a young man commented on what a lovely day it was and how much more energy he had now that he had had some sun. He said, "I think we are all solar powered!"
I got out for the walk yesterday and may get out a bit today if it warms up enough to take dgs out to play in the snow. In the meantime, I'm having tea and chocolate under my light therapy.
Dgs went to sleep immediately but was up for a little bit at midnight and then whimpered through the night a few times. Dh was on hair-trigger and while he let dgs settle himself at 3, he sounded desperate enough at 4 that dh got up with him and they had a rocking cuddle until dgs' eyelids were so heavy dh felt he would fall asleep again. He did and he's still asleep now. My first round of light just ended so that means I'll start the day well charged. Dh is also in bed because he felt he was awake every 90 minutes or so. Part of that, I think, is the fan on our bedroom radiator was turning on a lot in the night due to the cold and it is very loud and I woke at least 3x to that. I turned it to low when I got up; I know I can sleep through that coming on but it may not be strong enough to keep the room warm. I think last night was our last cold night, so we'll see.

Re: Movement Monday
Morning….
Hurray for Harriet’s dd and young man. So happy for y’all!
Been thinking of Dee and her DH all night. Sending healing thoughts
I’m off to see the dermatologist this morning. Sure I’ll come home looking like patches.
The drs office is close to some stores I like to shop. Looking forward to this because Sweetie will
Be home waiting for the screen guys to come to repair our lanai and I seldom get free time by myself when I shop these days.
It’s still cold for our area this morning, but I’m enjoying it. One year ago today Sweetie and I left our AZ and headed her. When I mentioned it to Sweetie he replied … it certainly been a long one! Had to agree to that.
Gotta run…BBL

Re: Movement Monday
Sun is up now. Just before the mist blocked our view, I realized it is a hoar frost day. They are so beautiful, with every branch sparkling like crystal as far as I can see. The island in particular is magical with the sparkling branches over the white ground, surrounded by the deep blue of the open water (there are rapids by the island so the river doesn't freeze over there.)
So, for a moment, I'll float along rather than moving my limbs, and simply enjoy the view.

Re: Movement Monday
YAY!! The sun rise was gorgeous and it's been sunny ever since I got out of bed. What a difference in my mood. The youngest cat is scampering around the house. The older 2 cats have been out and are now in again as it is minus 6 right now.
My bedroom looked so nice this morning now that all the vases along the windowsill have been washed. This morning I cleared the entire island off and wiped it, including under the toaster. I'm telling you our cleaning lady was Lazy with a capital L. I don't thinks she picked up anything to clean under it. I also got up on a chair and dusted the top of the dining room cabinet.
Headed out to knitting. BBL.

Re: Movement Monday
I was up at eight but have been lollygagging in front of the computer. Just made my breakfast/brunch omelet and will post now, and then, hopefully, have my day underway.
We spent the day yesterday with friends, from noon until sevenish. We went to the river and sat for awhile outside in the sun - although temp was around fifty we were in the sun and there wasn't a breeze. The river was beautiful, flowing from all the rain last week. I missed the barge going by (dh and V didn't let me know, I was inside reading newspaper) and there were few boats out. She and dh barbequed a salami - I didn't know that was a thing - and we had leftover brisket, squash casserole, fruit and other leftovers from their fridge for an afternoon lunch. Glorious time! Then their dd called - her car had been left at temple while she went out of town with youth group - and it was gone! Not in temple lot. Turned out in the end the frat boys next door had it towed - they have a contract with the temple that they will clean up our lot after parties - and they thought it was a car they were responsible for! (A far cry from my days as temple prez when there was occasionally vomit on our parking lot after their parties.) We needed to get home to ddog anyway, so we headed to our house with V and her dh went to pick up the dd and get her home. Then he came over and they all had wine and drinks (water for me) and we had cheese crackers and sliced turkey. So I had a lot of socialization - perhaps a little too much.
And when they left I was just worn out, and dh went right to sleep in his chair.
I expected dh to be home this a.m. but he had a breakfast appt and must have gone on to his office.
Now I need to get moving somehow. Need to s2s, walk dog, do a million things I haven't done.

Re: Movement Monday
Good morning!
So much for getting out of vacation mode — I forgot today was a holiday. DC’s classes don’t start till tomorrow, and DH is home. But I have the alarms on my phone adjusted for the new semester, at least. When I get done here, I’ll go wake DC, who was intending to get up reasonably early and didn’t.
I would like to get some of the clutter out of the living room today. I have a stack of extra towels from when I spilled my tea the other day — I asked DC to run up and get some towels from the stack of old ones, and they brought the whole stack. I have medical papers to file. The card table is up — that needs to be put away sooner if I can’t convince DH to play a game and later if I can. And the entire coffee table is covered with DD’s things, so I need to get her to put them away.
I hope Dee gets some rest — and gets some good news.
Congratulations to Harriet’s DD on her engagement!
As far as movement goes, there was a story on the radio this morning about a study that said five minutes of movement every half hour was enough to reduce chances of high blood pressure and diabetes. So there’s a goal for sedentary me to aim for!
I hope everyone has a good day!

Re: Movement Monday
I am in holiday mode along with mentor/nursing mode. DD11 is running 100 degree fever, has a sore throat and sniffles. I did a c19 test on her which was negative. . She is now showing an interest in taking her own temperature, meds, etc. So, I set up a sick basket with everything she needs including a 3x5" card documenting time/temp/med. She is totally content & prefers to stay in her bedroom while she is sick.
Yesterday was a bomb to healthy habits. I drove for 5 hours, sat in church for 2 hours, and sat with family meal for 2 hours. 9 hours of sitting plus too much food is showing up today in negative ways. I'm okay with not sticking with healthy habits during occasional special times as long as I get right back to the healthy habits I'm trying to develop & maintain. I am giving priority today to getting back into the healthy habit groove.
