bw2, excellent advice from RR about rehab. My mother was in assisted living but the same info applies. The hospital social worker can help with rehab I think. When my dsis was hospitalized, early on, when it looked like she would recover, the social worker came to me to talk about where she would to after, and seemed like she would have been helpful. Of course, that never happened and she went down quickly while still in hospital. So ck for a resource there. And talk to others who have had loved ones there.

Yes to getting your name on the insurance stuff so they will talk to you. I had to do that for my dmom. Do you have a durable power of attorney and medical poa already? That allows you to act on his behalf. Banks may want their own form too but start with the durable POA. What else? This is all overwhelming, I know. Take one day at a time and don't forget to breath.

We had a good day with dgs except he didn't nap. He did sing to himself for over an hour, though, so I could have napped but I kept waiting for him to fall asleep.

I changed him and was just about to head downstairs to meet his mom when I smelled something. Three times today I smelled poop and it was just a fart. The fourth time... after I'd packed up the diaper bag... it wasn't a fart!

Spent a little time on skype with the other grands. Their other grandparents have RSV. Nonna was holding her grand-niece, 2 months old, for a few hours late last week. The baby is now in the NICU with RSV. She was congested at the time Nonna was holding her but they didn't think they would get it from her. She sounds horrible but is in a good mood so should fight it off fine. The concern remains with the little baby.

I did manage to get sheets and towels changed, two loads of laundry done and my plants watered. That's my Monday Bare Minimum. I'll do the rest of the house blessing tomorrow.

Not a lot of MOVEMENT here, but I have some ta-das:
* FINALLY s2s, morning routine
* started load of laundry
* I did find 15 minutes for the tree, so ornaments are (slowly) coming down.
* spent a LONG while filling out a census form from USDA -- we have some trees in a government program that pays us money each year (we inherited this from dfil). Well, for the first time I remember, we had to fill out a long, drawn-out census form. I guess it is our first time because dmil passed away nine years ago. If this is a 10-year kind of census, it would be our first time. But it involved dh looking into tax records and a bunch of paperwork, and mostly I just checked "none" on multiple questions over 24 pages!
* spent a long while on phone with

HOORAY HOORAY HOORAY -- Definitely an answer to prayer!!! DS is more than happy to take over the management of the rental house!!! He agrees he does not want to raise the rent on the current renter but loves the idea of being able to do what he wants to with it if/when this couple no longer lives there. We're not going to change anything on paper -- we're just going to give ds the rent money each month and he is going to take on the expenses of the house -- starting with a new roof in a couple weeks! HOORAY! I am sooo glad to have this settled and everyone happy.
* dh spent time on phone with dfriend and then with newspaper reporter -- a local landmark is being torn down and reporter is doing a story on it. It is a coliseum that has hosted county basketball tournaments, country and gospel music shows, and multiple county-wide events.
* sent text messages and made one phone call re: teacher group meeting tomorrow
* sent text message to church secretary re: prayer list
* went to town w/dh

Blessed -- ditto all Rose said for you. I don't know how dmom's insurance works, actually, but I do have POA for her medical needs, etc. so I hope I'd be okay in that situation. Labeling clothes, etc... such a pain, but yes, always required when she has been admitted to rehab.
This all can be overwhelming and depressing, aggravating, frustrating... just know that we are all here for you when you need to talk and we are praying for you when you don't even have time to talk! (((BIG HUGS)))

Kathryn... singing baby... so sweet... poopy baby, not so much... And my goodness -- that is scary about the baby with RSV! Praying all goes well.

Harriet -- am I being nosy to ask if the young man asked HRH's "permission" before proposing? DH didn't and I think it really rubbed my dad the wrong way. (NEVER MIND that my ddad, at age 21 had crossed state lines with my dmom age 15 to marry her without even telling my grandfather!!!) DH and I had absolutely NO IDEA that my ddad expected to have that "talk" with him beforehand. Shaking my head. DH had no sisters and dmil had no father (her dad passed away when she was 2). DH had no idea what might go through the mind of the father of the bride. Shaking my head...

Ooohhhh... LadyM, spaghetti sounds sooo good. It is cold and windy here and that would be so nice. Your ddil's plans sound exciting -- glad they are all together on this -- sounds like she and your ds work together pretty well. (I suspect they have a good example in you and LordM!)

Gotta wave at everyone else and run -- laundry isn't going to flip on its own...

Dh came home from work late afternoon and had a turkey sandwich, then didn't want the turkey for supper. We found some chili in the freezer and thawed it in the microwave and it was perfect. Not a big meal but just right.

I walked the dog two laps I think and she was so good once she settled down a bit. So I've made my step goal for the day plus a little more. Raising the goal 500 steps/day every week.

Twice the young man has talked to both of us together, privately, lucylee, meaning without dd around. Not really a "permission" but just talk among the three of us regarding his hopes and plans himself, and how he wanted dd to say "yes" someday and us to be okay with it. HRH was not easy for him to talk to, but rather understanding in some ways. I was easy, because it's just their decision and I don't see how to give any ultimatums from us. Obviously, dd talked with us a mile a minute many times, because that's the speed and frequency of her conversation, lol. She has always made it clear that she saw every fault and still wanted nothing to do with anyone else.

They have no timetable yet at all and see no hurry, I don't believe. She came by this afternoon. The ring mount, which we couldn't figure out in the photo, is a pear-cut ruby, with small lab-grown diamonds wrapping just its curve. Very different and she loves that.

She clipped Tobias' claws for us - always a welcome help. She handles it so effortlessly but I am tentative with it, so he knows I'm not confident and gets skittish.

I made a cake of cornbread this evening and cooked veggies. There was pizza lying in wait earlier in the day and I wish I'd avoided it better. Sigh.

Wonderful advice for blessed. I read it all with a bit of trepidation, thinking how lost I'd be someday if it was me. I was told the laundry process in these places is really harsh on the clothes so when DH was in rehab 2 weeks I was advised to just do his myself.

Harriet, ring sounds beautiful. I'm glad she's happy with it.

I kept busy today. Brought back in the bins, so glad there was pickup today despite it being a holiday. I'd forgotten that and had to bring my mail back in not picked up today.

Got my drs. office visit and lab reports filed and noted on my chart. Got a good start on my study for this week. My laundry basket was overflowing, so I got that washed and hanging up. It was cold today outside so I'll hope it's all dry tomorrow to bring in.

Made homemade biscuits and a beef stew for dinner. Really worked on the gravy/sauce and it turned out nice. Was wanting a hearty warm dinner in this cool day and this hit the spot.

Kathryn, I hope the little one gets over the RSV. Scary in one so little. It's going around here also.

Hoping for some good news from Dee. Maybe she's been sleeping a lot today.

Which reminds me, I have something for J&C next.
