a Happy Saturday to you!

Post by blessedw2 »

Can we do it all - No.
Is it okay - YES!!!

The day will come and go no matter what - the earth will move from morning to night and morning again. Why not enjoy the gentle cycle of nature and the the little special moments throughout our day without putting pressure on us that we are supposed to do it all. Enjoy the moments and let go of the expectations we have for ourselves.

What can you do today to take time outdoors, to take time with your loved ones, enjoy a moment to yourself?

My focus today is dh of course but it also an animal care day. What do you see again for your day?
I hope it is blessed, comforting, and fruitful.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

I emptied the dishwasher this morning. Discovered that the ice cream machine takes longer to "mix" the frozen ingredients than it takes for me to empty the dishwasher! LOL!

I have started to use a clumping cat litter to see if it was less expensive in the long run than cleaning 3 litter boxes every second day. So, I spent a bit of time doing the cat boxes.

Dh and I are going out for lunch to the new Indian restaurant that just opened in our tiny town. We also decided that we will have grilled cheese for supper because I am expecting lunch to be quite filling. Just something new to us sort of. My ex and I always went for Indian for lunch because it was $2 less than going for supper. I recall that we always needed a nap afterwards.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I'm soooo far behind on so many things, as I'm pretty sure Blessed is feeling that as well. So today I'll be trying to catch up on some things.

Just found out that Memorial service for Dbil will be Saturday, February 4th at 1pm. So at least that much is settled.

On my way to work on some things -so much of which are computer things and calendar stuff past, future and present.

Good morning afternoon!

Thank you for the lovely start, blessed!

Cathy, I hope you enjoy (are enjoying as I write this, maybe) your lunch. You’ll have to tell us what you had.

Wishing Dee an uneventful catch-up day.

And I hope that BS roller coaster lets you off soon, Nancy!

The pound cake was yummy! I may have to make it again, though it was something of a pain in terms of dishes — you had to separate the eggs and beat the whites in one bowl, and the dry ingredients had to be mixed in another before being added to the bowl where the butter and sugar had been creamed and had the egg yolks added; add all the measuring cups and spoons on top of that… sheesh!

The hibachi dinner (where they cook the food in front of you) was very nice. One of the women complained later that the chef seemed to be off his game compared to the one at the next table, but I was sufficiently entertained, and the food was tasty.

DH is out with the Scouts at their “Klondike” event all day today. He left at 6:30 and doesn’t expect to be home till 9:30. So I’ll have to figure out what to cook (or pick up) for our dinner. I should probably do a Covid test before going out; I woke up in the middle of the night with a scratchy throat. It’s doing a bit better now, but still….

Next up for me will be lunch, then cleaning up the breakfast and lunch dishes. After that, I’ll swish and swipe the bathroom, then get a load of wash going. I may do a load of DH’s shirts, since I have the time to babysit them today. Off I go! Have a good one!

Trying to figure what to cook for dinner as well, Mystery. DD has Orlando Solar Bears Hockey tonight so I need something that dh can eat and something that Dsonil WILL eat. He's so extremely picky that it's making it indeed hard especially now. Know he won't even try anything that doesn't have salt in it and we're trying hard not to give dh any additional salt. (And yes I know he can add salt at the table and he does that aplenty!) DD's going to try grilling some 'cabbage steaks' on the grill tomorrow without adding the salt. Already told us (even though he likes cabbage that he won't even taste it without the cooked in salt. Oh well!

Just finished completely sorting and filing all of dh's medical papers of recent history. PT will be here in a 2 or 3 hours and I'll have more.

Dh "thinks" I slept last night -not. I heard every movement, groan, etc. This morning he was asking me when they were coming to get him to take him "down". Down where? "For surgery". Had to explain more than once that we're at DD/dsonil's house and he wasn't having "emergency surgery". But I sure can tell it's on his mind. I'm almost sure we're not through with the hospital yet. Think about you all the time too, Blessed!

just a quick wave before heading out to the hospital.
dd's don't quite understand that I am not overly positive but am just moving in one direction. I was sad for dh today - I feel bad that he has been through so much and is still in the hospital 21 days later. I don't sit in it but I am okay feeling sad for him and being sad for the moment.
Why do we feel we can't take time for all feelings has always surprised me. Sometimes I feel when I acknowledge the feelings, then I don't fall into them for too long. (and getting myself outdoors of course).

dinner is made already
chicken and gravy, potatoes, I stil l'have to cook broccoli and cauliflower

CI:

(((Dee and blessed))) I just want y’all to know, you are both a great inspiration and motivation to me in the way you are dealing with caregiving but not letting it prevent you from managing other areas of your life… I mean, sometimes I let that sort of thing just wear on me till I’m basically useless for anything else. It is much better, I believe, for your mental health to carry on with the necessities routines as much as possible, as you two are doing. All too often I have used it as an excuse for laziness and that just leads to more depression.

Today I was urged on to action by Dgd, who said we needed to get the tree down NOW, no, don’t lie down again after breakfast…
So I started taking the lights off and after the 3rd strand of 8, Dgd announced she was quitting. :) she was tired and bored.
I did finish getting the lights off, but then took a break to work on photos on the computer.
All December photos (115) are now labeled and in the process of being uploaded to S-fly for printing. This takes FOREVER. Only on #29 and says “more than an hour” time remaining. Sigh. Wmart is faster, and cheaper, but no dates printed on backs… so I sit… guarding the computer so dh doesn’t come in here and interrupt it.
I’m about to go threaten him with… something? LOL … if he touches the computer and go ahead and take my shower.
Tomorrow is another day.

Blesses… nothing wrong for feeling sad for your husband. I am going through the same thing with mine. I hate watching him as he mentally slows down and gets confused. It difficult to watch because he is so brilliant minded and he does know what is happening to him.
