WTG WEDNESDAY

I'm giving myself a little POTB here.

Yesterday, I never even checked in. I was busy with laundry most of the day, since I'd been out with dmom Monday, and then dh and I went out for supper at R*d L*bster... which I love, but which is getting a bit too expensive. Approx $100 for the two of us??? I ordered crab legs, and the price was not on the menu, but they must have cost as much as dh's scallops plus the lobster pizza appetizer plus soft drinks all combined!!! WOW. We were a little shocked when the bill came. Anyway... laundry was my big task for the day.

But today, with dh out of the house, I am getting things done! (DH and DS are gone to College Town, basketball game.)

* backed up photos on computer to external drive
* s/s all bathrooms
* in process of washing ALL textiles in the master bedroom
-- mattress pad, plus sprinkled baking soda on mattress and vacuumed
-- sheets
-- quilts & blankets
-- dust ruffle and * planning to do * curtains
* talked to dmom
* called gastro-doc for dmom (see J&C)
* talked to ddil

Still to do --

Lol, Mystery, this has to do with a deep dive, while taking a nutrition course, into how to make cooked greens taste good without adding sodium or fats, or taking up any time. Traditional balsamic vinegars are aged, can be thick and syrupy and need only drops or a drizzle to mix in and give a really nice taste to greens.

Harmony, that would be one reason to try to find even less acid in a brand, but I've never gotten acid reflux from the thick balsamics. In theory, the natural acidity is just going to be 6 percent and sometimes what they do in order to lower it is to add sugars like caramel, so it can be a trade-off.

I just got three more volunteers for the Residents' Association, one to help with membership, a social director and a building rep. Plus we had a wonderful time just chatting. It was a lovely evening.

I want a good night's sleep and getting off the computer will help me succeed with that so I'm going to take my vitamins and then grab a magazine to read.

[x] go to church for Bible Study, took dgrands home b/c ddil wasn't feeling well
[x] talked to dfriend, whom I had called earlier and who called me back -- this is the husband of my friend who passed away last spring. He is still having such a hard time dealing with loneliness, and the fact that their daughter has basically abandoned them makes it so much harder for him. At least his grandson is close by and stays close to him. It is always sad to talk to him, because he always tears up, but he always thanks me for calling -- so I try to make sure I talk to him at least once a month or so.

I got a lot done today.

RRose, some of what I got done today was because...... listen to this....... I was back there folding laundry and putting DH's whites away when he pulled back his blanket and I saw..... huge spots of blood. On sheets, on pillow cases, clear through to the mattress pad/protector. I started stripping everything off. He said it came from his arm and showed me. It was where the dermatologist did a biopsy and sent it away for lab work. This was months ago. He said he didn't remember it bleeding but woke up to this mess. Did not tell me because he didn't want to bother me. I looked at his arm, it had a little scab over the site. It's much smaller than it was when first done. All I can figure is it must have gotten itchy in the night and he scratched. Well, he takes baby aspirin every day and he bleeds badly when anything is 'open'. I put a bandaide on it, said we'd leave it covered until it completely healed. Biopsy was negative.

He's never had anything positive treated by freezing. The one he had years ago was cut out.

So, all those bedclothes washed and dried. I had to put the mattress pad outside in the sun and breeze to dry and then in the dryer with cool air because it has a plastic layer attached. Pleased the way it came out.

While that was going on I refolded and reorganized one of his drawers. Looks nice now.

Blessed, guess what we had for dinner! Red beans and rice! I had some turkey sausage left over from last night and I added that. I hope your DH is doing well. Since this is rehab, are they getting him up to walk, etc.? Any luck finding a twin bed yet? I wish you luck.

What else, a lot of dishes. Mopped kitchen floor, mostly because I dripped water on it when I was pre-spotting and scrubbing the sheets before washing. Was afraid DH would come out and slip.

Guess that's enough for one day. Wow, there's a lot of bad weather out there. We're supposed to have a cold snap coming this weekend.

So Harmony has all clean bedding tonight too! (Or at least, Mr. Harmony does!) I can understand what you are talking about -- dh bleeds sooo easily since he started taking blood thinners. The least little thing and it's everywhere.

Well -- I edited my post -- vacuuming is DONE. Now... if I can just get curtains back up before dh gets home. LOL, he will not mind if there is no dust ruffle (probably would prefer we didn't have one -- I keep fussing because he pulls it out on his side) but if we don't have curtains, we're really going to wake up at dawn.
I really need to get blackout curtains for our bedroom, and hang them farther out, past the woodwork on the windows. We have what is supposed to be room-darkening shades but a LOT of light comes in around the window shades at the edges of the curtains. Just plain "country curtains" you know, with the ruffle at the top and down the middles, pulled back to the sides.

I wish I had seen Coal Miner's Daughter before we built our house. There's a scene where Doo is showing Loretta where everything will be in the new house he's going to build for her. At one point she says, "NO! NOOO! You don't want to put the bedroom here where the sun will wake you up every morning!!!" Well... that's exactly what I did -- put the bedroom on the east end of the house. Sigh. And never bought blackout curtains.

Editing again to say BEDROOM IS DONE! It seems sooo fresh and clean in there now. I may not even get out of bed tomorrow, LOL!
