I'm less tired this a.m. The homework last night was to continue work on the "practicums" if we wanted, but we do have class time today and tomorrow to work on them and ask questions. So once dh got home I gave it up for the night and went to bed a little early. Ddog had me up and out in the night for a stroll during which she had no apparent bathroom needs, but I had a decent nights sleep.

Need to finish up a.m. routine and walk her a couple of laps and get upstairs.

I'm getting more tired but that's OK, I'm heading for a dental cleaning now so will rest a bit in the chair.

Looking out, cars are moving faster now, so the roads are slippery but clear enough. Google says it is a 32 minute drive and I would have left 30 minutes on a regular day so that's another indication that slow and steady will be fine. So far, about 7" are down with another 1 - 2 through the day.

~~~~waving Hello to everyone~~~
Twins - Thanks for the start today.
I stayed home from church last night because I think that I might have caught Twins cold. I'm not sick but I can tell that I'm not feeling my normal self. I have 1/2 degree of temp and runny sinus. I am not really sick but just off my normal. I am taking OTC musinex and know from experience that it will typically be all that is necessary. My immune system seems to be getting stronger and able to overcome most virus/bugs/germs. I suspect constantly exposed by being around nursery babies, toddlers and teenagers has helped strengthen my immune system. I don't know if that is true but that is my best guess.
I felt the need to start using hip card again. That usually happens a few times a year when I'm feeling stressed & overwhelmed. I am thankful for having an easy solution to help me juggle things when my mind gets overloaded. 3"x5" hip pad to the rescue!
Homeschool is already finished for the day. DS14 started working on today's assignments when he got off work yesterday and spent most of his evening doing school. I'm not okay with him working full time and going to school but don't have a good idea how to stop him. I do realize I can MAKE him stop working but that would be the start of a tremendous war between us. I am thankful for having a counselor to give another view and professional opinion in these issues. Once she verifies that DS14 is doing his schoolwork and making good grades then she usually sides with him.
DD11 is at regional academic team contest today. They don't allow any visitors (parents) to attend. That is one of the leftovers rules from covid times. They are still limiting the attendance to contestants & teachers only.
It's overcast outside with very dark skies over Lake Ontario. It's also overcast inside. Poor dh has been having a very rough week. Today he's been dealing with a customer who owns a local winery who thinks he knows more than a mechanic about his car. Seems the guy went to a dealership and talked to another mechanic after he left here. Dh was not happy when they got off the phone. Plus the hassles with the post office/mail delivery. Plus something at the bank. Plus... plus... plus...
I am not going to knitting today because there were a lot of accidents this morning and the back roads are slick. Snowplows have gone past once this morning. Waiting to see if they come back around. Good news is that compost and recycling have both been picked up.
Supper tonight will either be Shepherd's Pie or meatloaf. Maybe meatloaf, so I can boil some potatoes. I'm getting sick of instant mashed potatoes. Dh loves them, but twice in 1 week is too much.
I think there were coyotes howling nearby last night. Either that or the Jack Russell terrier next door. I've never heard the howling like that before though.
Morning…
LadyM… is t it wonderful you have a professional that you trust that can help you navigate your ds, dd, and yourself through all this time. I know I really loved how my sons counselor was able to make me see both sides of a the coin when my son and I had a conflict. Btw in later years we became very good friends.
My day is sort of slipping away as I still need my shower. However my delays have been for food reasons. Had a lengthy discussion with my brother about my moms estate, then I needed to call my moms and now my brothers and mine finance guy. After that I sent a text to my neighbor because I found teeny tiny ants in my kitchen draw and she uses an exterminator.
Also had some business Sweetie and I needed to talk about and poof my morning is almost gone. I did get my morning routines done before I went to class and Freddy is very happy with his new clean home. Yesterday I got all my steps in, but I did give in and eat two chocolate chip cookies, plus a small glass of diet soda. Haven’t had a soda in over a month.
Today is laundry day and of course I’m getting a late start. It is dreary and cloudy today with temps only in the 60’s but I’m just fine with that.
My brother is a master when it comes to gardens and is known far and wide for his tomatoes. He told me today he is bought some tomato seeds that are suppose to grow plants that will produce a 1-5 lb tomato. He’s like me and like to grow new things. This year he has set up a growing station in his basement so he can start germination his seeds… he usually buys his plants. I sent him so interesting seed last year to grow for this season. He grows flowers as well. They are called Torch Lilies and he start his today. I was gonna start mine on Valentine’s Day but may rethink that.
Cathy … it’s mating time for the coyotes and they are singing to each other. I loved this time of the year when I lived in the desert because I would leave my bedroom window open at night and wait for them to start singing. I know I’m weird but I really miss that!
I’m off to take my shower and then it spinning the laundry time. BBL
Dh's home care nurse was here little after 10 this morning and now his PT is here. Unfortunately despite his Fitbit saying he got 12 hours sleep last night :o :shock: -most ever- he keeps dozing off on her. Sure it's the anemia doing it's thing! Waiting patiently for his lab/blood work to come back. I keep checking but don't see anything. Thought for sure it'd be back by now. Know the Dr will look into it closely when he gets it. Know he said if his hemoglobin fell below 7 he'd have to go back into the hospital for transfusions. So hoping that's not the case but seeing how weak/tired he is it sure won't surprise me. At least the #'s will give the Dr a point to work from. He's also really looking at his potassium level. I'm checking his blood pressure each morning after he gets 'going'. Can only give him his Metoprolol if his systolic is over 100. So far this week, so good. I'm finding I have so much to do for him that I'm having trouble doing all those things I usually do.
Lady M, would you please explain your "hip cards"? I know you did long ago but I'm wondering now.
I've been working on several items today. Just washed a bunch of items that have to be 'line dried' so that's done. Now I need to throw in a load of 'darks'. I'm doing a lot more laundry it seems since dh is wearing these compression stockings. I probably should order another 4 pair.
hoping your dh anemia is not because of his hemoglobin being low. I know my dh was not happy when he had to go in for a transfusion. praying for him!
Praying for you as you care for your dh, d Dee!
I dropped off dh's gym shoes and new comfortable pants and shirts. He put on his gym shoes but kept his jeans on. I have to bring a bunch of tee shirts and regular shirts for him as bc of the trac, he is going through cloths like crazy. I might sew him some Terry cloth with backing for him so his skin doesn't get wet.
Now, they are talking about weeks before he can come home. He also has been having horrible nightmares - really scary ones like when he was under certain meds. At least it's not during the day when he is away anymore.
I keep thinking baby steps.
cleaning angels are here now. dd vacuumed the entire house yesterday which was needed.
I am planning on doing a 15 min per room/area run during the day that will include trash, donation and put away jobs.
I also hope to pick up bird seed.
it is always a joy to be here with you!
