I plan to be fabulous to myself today by taking myself off to the library! And dcleaning lady will be here today too, so the house will look fabulous.

I gotta get started on the straighten up part. And the sun is out today, although the high will only be around forty. So I can walk the dog and get in some steps too.

I need to figure out supper for us tonight.

Good Morning

I had an earlier start than normal. DH left at 4:30am to take his DSis for outpatient surgery. She is getting a port in preparation for starting chemo next week.

I am enjoying keeping my focus on what I have decided to do this hour instead of trying to mentally juggle everything that needs to be done in the whole day/week/month/year. Those other things are captured, and most are scheduled so I don't have to keep thinking about them.

Today I will be making tuna salad (4 cans) and boxed mac/cheese (4 boxes). We will also be getting take-out from our favorite BBQ place. They have items that are healthy & tasty. DH will most likely spend the day at hospital, so he needs to find himself something to eat. I'm texting him now to remind him to eat.

Decluttering & deep cleaning focus today is on water bottles and lids. I have gathered all the water bottles/lids (22) and have them on the dining room table. Everyone can pick out 2-4 of their favorite bottles then the rest will be donated. I have deep cleaned the shelf where the water bottles/lids are stored and have two containers ready to store the bottles/lids.

I'm up. I'll miss my 9 a.m. alarm asking me if I'm dressed, though.

Very cold here. Through the night there were random bangs as the walls/ducts contracted in the cold. The bedroom dropped a degree but that was without any heat on so that's actually pretty impressive.

It is still quite windy here so the apartment is swaying imperceivably and the gusts of wind cause air pressure changes, enough that I feel mild motion sickness (queasy, slight headache.) I think it will go away once I get moving as opposed to just sitting still at the computer. The chandelier is swaying a bit and the toilet bowl water is sloshing, so that's the evidence of the movement.

It is very sunny, so it will be easy to get moving around the apartment as the sun gives me energy. And I do have to go outside today but only to get across the street and I have proper clothing so I'm not worried about it. I might even go for a short walk if I'm comfortable but just back and forth near the building so there isn't a long walk to get home!

Harmony: our beater head is 'turbo' which doesn't mean fast. It means it is driving by an air turbine inside the head, which has a belt which drives the beater bar. The suction of the vacuum cleaner provides the air flow which drives the turbine. Something is causing the turbine in my old one to spin when I push it but it is too stiff, despite greasing the axles, to spin using the suction of the vacuum.

This is the replacement I bought. One of the photos shows the turbine section and how the air flow can be adjusted. My current one from Miele has the same theory (you need that alternate way to get air in because the pile of the carpet can block the air flowing from the bottom, but on a hardwood floor, that adjustment stays closed.

When I bought the vacuum I knew it was primarily for hard surface floors and didn't include any way of adding an electrical powered beater head with a motor. That wasn't an issue at the time. Then we bought two large area rugs with medium pile and it has become an issue.

Yay!! The sun is shining!! Too bad it's minus 10C! I don't want to know what the wind chill/"feels like" temperature is. This is the cold end of our 100 degree difference in temperatures. It's warmer in Alaska right now, I think. On the bright side, next week will be warmer and spring is coming, no matter what the rodent says.

I am making pasta Fagioli AKA "Pasta Fazool" from the Soprano's Cookbook for supper tonight. White kidney beans with peeled, canned tomatoes and some small pieces of pasta. I don't have the ones the recipe calls for, and I couldn't find them the last time I made this recipe, so I will be subbing with either elbows or tiny shells. Recipe says "one inch pasta pieces" for a substitution.

I didn't go anywhere yesterday, but I need to go to the bank today and get a few groceries and go to knitting. I'm sure I can leave the groceries in the car, even if I get popsicles. LOL!!

Good Morning, 33* outside here today 46* is our forecast hi temp. Partly cloudy.
My ear / sinus on one side is still sluffing off stuff but improving.
Was up in the nite several times ddog had a lot of water yesterday and needed out
Thankfully I was able to get back to sleep each time.

I had an art type project and finished that last night lettering on a board I taped it on to see if it would stay
over-nite I need to check that, yep! yea! It is for a group exercise at church.

This week has not been as productive as last but restful and I've needed it.
Thankful temps. are warmer in the day and spring is 6 weeks away.

This, exactly. I'm mostly ready for dcleaning lady and will have breakfast and walk the dog and be off to the library.

Another positive reason to appreciate cold temperatures. I usually think of the reduction of bugs that happen during freezing weather. The few years that we didn't have some extreme cold temp resulted in an abundance of bugs.

I am planting carrot seeds today. They will be put on germination mat under lights.

Harriet - I suspect your 3x5 card file is a treasure!

Cooking for the day is done.

Decluttering and organizing water bottles is done. It resulted in 9 bottles being donated. We went from 25 to 16 bottles.
