My Friday has been "okay," but not what I would call Fabulous. We did get gumbo from local restaurant and ds and dgrands ate with us.
I am hoping tomorrow will be fabulous, though.
Tomorrow I have to get dgs signed up for baseball, then he has a basketball game at 5:00 pm, and THEN, we are planning to surprise dgs with a trip to Nashville to see Bobby Osborne at the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree. (A misnomer, because it is recorded at 10:00 pm, then replayed on the radio the next week.)
For those who don't follow bluegrass music, Bobby Osborne and his brother Sonny were the first to record "Rocky Top," now one of the state songs of Tennessee and the fight song for the University of Tennessee. He is probably dgs' favorite Opry star, and dgs has been singing "Rocky Top" with ds and dh since about the time he (dgs) started talking.

So, at the Midnight Jamboree, the performers do a show and then they will sign autographs and sell CDs and talk to people after the show, and we thought dgs would enjoy getting to meet him. It will be a late night, but it was my idea and dh is now excited about surprising dgs, and of course, ds will go with us so that will help about the driving.
DGD is spending the night here tonight but she is eating and watching YouTube right now. . She just "grazes." She did not want to even TRY the gumbo, although she loves shrimp and crawfish, so I don't know why she wouldn't try shrimp and crabmeat gumbo... but she has had peaches, Cheerios, a tangerine, and a popscicle.
She'll be ready for her shower soon and I am hoping I can bring myself to vacuum the bathroom while she is in there.
I really need to try to focus hour by hour like you are doing, LadyM.
My morning and bedtime routines are pretty well set. Sometimes I skip a step, like my stretching exercises, or I put off Bible reading from morning till night, but I follow those routines very well.
In the middle of the day, when the actual WORK needs to be done... THAT'S when I fall apart, into a heap in the recliner and then think what a lazy bum I appear to be.
Maybe if I had one focus per hour, I could accomplish a little more.
On my checklist, after morning routine is completed, I have the following tasks:
* START SOMETHING* *FIVE MINUTES ON TASK* *CHECK CARDS*
Daily/Weekly/EOW
Monthly/Zone
One from Extras (These are the things that are not weekly or zone tasks, stuff like "hem pants" or color hair, etc.)
Paperwork/Projects
Maybe that is too vague? But if I focused on each thing,
one per hour, I'd normally have time to cover each item before supper.
For example today, after I got back from the post office, I could have done
Vacuuming at 1:00
Focus cleaning at 2:00
Hemmed pants at 3:00 and
Work on photo albums at 4:00.
I'm going to try that next week. None of those tasks would take an hour, and if I just promised myself the minimum 15 minutes each, I would probably see some progress around here. It's not that the
HOUSE is such a mess, it's that
Ifeel like a mess, because I don't feel like I accomplish ANYTHING most of the time.
Actually, I have 4 hours before I'll be ready to go to bed tonight. I should start NOW and let y'all know how it goes. I may not cover all four areas, because dgd is here, but I will make an effort at it.
BTW -- I am sooo glad you found your address box, Harriet! I need to update mine. I have cards in a file in my nightstand, but they haven't been updated in a long time. I've kept my master list of addresses on the computer since dparents' 50th anniversary (2011) so the extra info you mentioned is missing.
And blessed (((BIG HUGS))) -- I am so glad you had a visit with a friend today! Also glad to hear things are looking up with dh, so far as not needing the oxygen, one less worry for you. Hang in there.
Someone here mentioned black gutters the other day. I meant to say, there are two new houses within a half-mile of my house, and both are white siding, black roofs. One has white gutters, one has black. They both look really nice. I would have thought the black would be distracting against the white walls, but it kinda sets it off and looks good. But I had to look really closely to see that the other house even has gutters. So it's really personal preference, I guess.
My rule of decorating is, if you like it, it will be right for your house. I don't care one bit about what is in style or trendy, or what some interior decorator recommends. No one has to live in your house but YOU and your family. Paint it all white, paint every room a different color, all that matters is what your family feels comfortable with.
